• A:Answer as you know, a Local Area Network is within your home or office so this switch would not, in this case, need a Wider Area Network. you would only need a WAN if you're connecting directly from outside and in that case you'll have to spend a few hundred to a few thousand dollars for a switch that can be used specifically for that purpose. I have optic so I hooked the modem cable to one of the ports and all my devices to the other ports.

Q: QuestionHello. I see this switch is 13 inches in width. The rack I want to mount this switch in has approximately a 19 inch width between the screws. Will the hardware that comes with this switch alllow me to mount this switch in the rack?

• A:Answer Not unless you turn one into an access point or stack one under that other. Turn off DHCP to put on the same network. Then don't use uplink port. That turns a router into a switch with wireless if that is what you want.
