Q: QuestionDoes this require cable? Will it work with or without (independently) of cable? I'm just trying to find an alternative to cable, and it looked like this was an easy/good place to start? Help or comments are appreciated.

• A:Answer Roku doesn't need cable but does require internet. Who you chose to be your internet provider doesn't matter, but you will need WiFi. Roku is a great way to cut cable as we offer 500+ free live TV channels on the Roku Channel as well as the most apps out of any smart platform. Roku itself has no monthly fees but there are apps such as Netflix, Disney+, etc that require their own subscriptions.

Q: QuestionDoes the Roku Express remote work with a Roku Ultra system?

• A:Answer Hello Katie, you can use the express remote with the Ultra as it does accept IR but the express doesn’t have power or volume on the remote. It also doesn’t have the headphone Jack or personalized buttons. You’d be loosing out on several features by going this route. I do recommend purchasing the voice remote or voice remote pro if you’re in need of a new remote. You can also always use your phone as the remote with the Roku app as long as both your phone and tv are on the same internet.

Q: QuestionIs it possible to send a Disney+ show from a Mac laptop to the Roku stick and have the show play on the TV? Is the remote checking wifi all the time, or does it power down when not in use?

• A:Answer Hello, Minkie10! You can airplay from your Mac to the Roku as long as the Roku Express model 3960 is running Roku OS 10.0 or higher to support Apple homekit and streaming with Airplay 2. Roku also supports Disney + so you can sign in on your Roku and stream without having to airplay. For your question about Wifi, the remote is not checking Wifi but please be noted that Roku streaming players are low-power devices that are designed to remain on and connected to the internet. A permanent internet connection is recommended. If you just turn off your tv while your attached Roku device is streaming something, it will continue to stream unwatched. Get in the habit of returning to the Roku home screen when you are done watching Roku-streamed content. In addition you can turn on the Roku bandwidth saver. If it goes 4 hours with no input from you it will ask if you are still watching. If you don't reply it will then stop the current stream and return to the home screen. You can turn this feature on and off via Settings > Network > Bandwidth saver.

Q: QuestionDo you have to buy/supply a power adaptor? If i plug in the usb into hdmi on the tv will that power the roku?

• A:Answer Hello Scott! The 2022 Roku Express includes a USB power cable minus the power adapter. You can use the included USB power cable to connect your streaming player to the USB port on your TV, which should provide sufficient power. If you'd prefer to plug it into a wall outlet instead, grab any standard USB adaptor you have at your house (like your phone charger cube), and you'll be ready to go. Happy Streaming!
