QuestionI want the phone for call out emergency only. Are the chips only good for a certain amount of time? Can I buy a chip for say 300 minutes and use it a year later? In other words do I have to use it or loose it? What is the cheapest chip available?

- Answer Looking at the front of the phone, the bottom button on the right side - press it until it beeps, is it on speaker phone. Repeat for it to turn off.

- Answer No. This phone doesn't work on postpaid. It seems that this phone has to be active on prepaid for 6 months for it to be able to use it on postpaid

- Answer You get 300 minutes per month for $15, so about 5 cent per minute if I did the math right, unless you don't use all 300 minutes of course. We only use about 60 minutes per month, so it basically cost us about 25 cent per minute. Any text message counts as one minute.

- Answer The volume can be adjusted by pressing the Volume buttons (located on the left edge). You can also change the volume by selecting menu, select Settings, select Volume and highlight (High, Medium High, Medium, Medium Low, Low, Vibrate Only, Alarm Only, All Sounds Off) and click set.

- Answer You can use a micro USB to USB dongle and copy them to a flash drive. (Good to have when you don't have access to a computer.) Or if you have the USB cord with a separate wall charger, you can plug the USB cord directly into a USB port. You should be able to navigate to your phone through the file system. If it doesn't show up, make sure your phone is set to media and not camera for when it is plugged in to a computer. Otherwise, if it has a spot for a micro SD or SD slot, you can purchase an adapter that you would put the card in and plug it into a computer. It looks like a flash drive with slits in it. - Answer No activation fee to activate the phone, but there is always a small activation fee when you purchase the phone minutes for a prepay service. I pay a 1.00 fee when I purchase my $30 Verizon monthly prepaid payment plus tax. the total cost is about $33 a month for everything I need - unlimited text and calling nationwide. Service is very good and there are fewer dead zones with verizon service than I find with other services.

- Answer The unequivocal answer to your question with regard to making calls in Ireland and to the U.S. is you definitely won't be able to use this device for this purpose. The Verizon Wireless "Samsung Gusto-3" cell phone cannot be used anywhere outside of the United States, since it is not globally capable.

- Answer Yes. My husband has a really old prepay plan from Verizon and when he lost his cellphone, this was the only phone which they allowed him to keep his same prepaid account and transfer to his new phone. The only things he lost were the phone numbers stored in the lost phone. He didn't even need to go to the Verizon store to transfer - there's a menu that you follow to do the transfer by yourself at home.

- Answer Yes, you can use your current number. This phone does not come with minutes. You have to buy them in monthly intervals or with a Verizon Pre paid card. I recommend it as it is easy to use, and works just about anywhere in the lower 48 states.
