A:Answer Steve, my understanding is that 1080p takes up too much bandwidth for over-the-air (OTA) HDTV. Also, many OTA channels will broadcast in 720p, especially sports, since the lower resolution allows action to render better (i.e. quicker). I'm sure a good part of the decision for OTA broadcasters not moving toward 1080p is that they probably don't see a rate of return on investing in it. Even more so with 4K coming along. I may be wrong (I'm not an HDTV purist), but it's probably hard for the typical viewer to notice the difference between 1080i and 1080p anyway.
