QuestionI understand you can screen a call/message using the cordless handset by pressing the screen softkey. But can you configure the handsets to automatically screen calls like the base station so you can hear whose calling when not near the handset?

- Answer Hi - Regretfully, the call screening on the cordless handset of the VTech IS8151-4 will only engage when the MENU/SELECT button is pressed while the answering machine is recording a message. The message broadcast is only automatic on the telephone base. Thank you, -VTech Support

QuestionRegarding Smart Call Blocker, do the handsets also announce the caller's name?

- Answer Yes, name is announced UNLESS it is blocked then you don't anything, not even the ring. But the phone does light up so you can answer or not.

- Answer Yes, each handset comes with their own batteries (2 each per handset) and recharge while in cradle. Yes, each cradle has individual electric cord for outlets.

- Answer Yes, you can connect between the base and individual handsets to any other. Each handset is numbered and you go to the intercom feature and select who you want to connect to via the intercom.

- Answer Try again on the question. Want to use this system as a stand alone system paired to a cheap cell phone with a unique number. Do not want to hard wire to land line as AT&T cannot seem to provide a line without static all the time. So have an otherwise unused cell phone with a unique number. Can I pair this cell phone with this product and not answer the cell phone on any of the handsets. Back door way to give this system a cell phone number. Would leave the cell phone on all the time next to the base station. Hope this clarifies the question.

QuestionModel:IS8151-4 I want to place a unit in my garage. Does weather changes have an affect on this unit? I live in Michigan so humidity and winter cold is always changing. I could pull the unit in the winter time, but what about humidity? Thank you.

- Answer Not sure. Probably a good question to ask on the Ooma web site. The Vtech system has built in call blocking, so this feature might be duplicated. I don't know about the differences between Ooma basic and premier, and whether neither, either, or both would allow you to transfer a phone directory to the Vtech system.
