QuestionCan this device (SN5147) be compatible with a range extender of any kind/ sort? We are getting about 150 feet from the cordless phone but would really like to get up to roughly 200 feet if possible. If it is compatible, can you recommend a product?

QuestionHow will my father-in-law know there is a voice mail or that someone called him? Is it easy to retrieve messages?

- Answer Hi - The VTech SN5147 has a built-in answering machine that can record incoming messages. The handset screen will display "New message" and the Play button at the telephone base will flash when there is at least one new message recorded on the bult-in answering machine. You can press the play button at the telephone base to listen to messages. QuestionI understand the phone has caller ID but does it also allow my mom to see what calls she has made. She has dementia and does not remember if she makes a call and will call the person again. A call log would be helpful.

- Answer Hi - No, the VTech SN5147 does not have a capability to limit outgoing/incoming calls. You may need to check with your telephone service provider to see if they have a subscription similar to that. Thank you, -VTech Support

QuestionMy mom’s facility phone system needs you to dial a 7 and then a 1 to get an outside line. Then of course the area code and rhe 7 digit phone number. Can these digits all be programmed to the speed dial/photo dial function- that is a total of 12 digits.

QuestionWhy does it say on the question site that if you have a voice mail with your provider you have to turn off the answering system.? Doesn't the answering system direct the call to voice mail if not answered?

- Answer The telephone do not allow you to use both, you can use your local provider who have answering services or you can use the telephone. I have Verizon and the answering service is set up to allow me 3 attempts to get the call before going into voicemail. After that I have to call the number to retrieve my voicemail. If I want to use this telephone I have to contact Verizon to remove the service and setup my telephone voicemail. The phone will not do both.
