QuestionI have a newer macbook pro that doesn’t have a usb port- am i able to buy a different cord that would connect to my mac? I tried the device that plugs into macs with the usb port option but the connectivity kept going in and out. I can’t transfer files

- Answer you'll have to get a quality dongle to transport most small ones are not powerful enough, it needs to be able to move large GB files. We got a belkin power dongle ,it's pretty pricey though

- Answer Hello Saminma, Please be informed that the WD Easystore External drive comes preformatted in NTFS format for Windows OS, It will work on Mac OS. in order to use the drive for macOS you can reformat the drive with macOS supported HFS+J file system by using this link: https://support-en.wd.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3879 .In order to use the drive with both Windows and MacOS you need to reformat the drive to exFAT file format by referring to the link: https://support-en.wd.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/20821 .Please be informed that reformatting is a data destructive process, please backup the data from the drive before reformatting it. -Need Help? - Answer I just bought one comes with WD Security, WD Drive Utilities and Acronis True Image Backup software. All 3 available under the apps tab on WD Discovery software that is downloaded when you hook it up the first time.

- Answer That depends on your TV and the files you downloaded. Different TVs use different video compression software so you have to download the right codecs to support watching the videos you downloaded, if your TV supports downloading additional codecs that is.

- Answer a computer such as apple, often times is not used solely for gaming. this tool brand is in use among musicians and graphic artists, and the performance relate to these art forms is outstanding. may I suggest that in order to appreciate the capabilities of a Mac, you got to explore more artistically uses VS the gaming realm, which , to my opinion, is a limited and awful waste of time... no personal offense intended.

QuestionI don’t see a power button so I’m assuming this thing would run constantly. Is there an automatic shutdown feature when inactive ?

- Answer Full automatic shutdown: I don't believe so. It does go into a power save state when inactive, with auto wake-up when you access it on the pc it is plugged into.

- Answer That all depends on your TV and the file compression codecs of the files you want to display. Generally yes unless you have an older TV that doesn't support it. In which case I would normally copy files to my tablet/phone and stream to the TV with a dongle or hook up with an HDMI cable, again it depends on the TV, most newer smart TVs will support most codecs and you can hook up no problems.

- Answer I do not know about the compatibility question, But I use external drives like this to backup multiple laptops. I schedule the backups for different laptops for different days. Since the drives are plug and play would just switch the drive to the appropriate computer for the scheduled day.

- Answer I used to use the WD Discovery software for a number of years before I switched to Acronis. It was easy to use and scheduling was quite simple. All my PCs (three laptops and three desktops) rarely sleep as I use all spare time for public computing projects. I love to see every thread of the CPU running at 100% along with high usage of the GPU. It would be easy for you to test whether the backup takes place when the computer is sleeping. I do remember that if a backup was missed for any reason it would let me know and allow a reschedule.

- Answer No. If you plan on using this directly connected to your PC or Mac, you can "eject" and remove the USB cable. Then pull the power cable.
