QuestionDo I have to schedule the back ups … or …. can I manually back up when I plug it into the computer usb port?

- Answer You have the option to do either. The WD software allows you to set a backup schedule if you want to, or you can do manual backups only. You can also do manual backups whenever you feel the need while still having a backup schedule. It's pretty solid software.

QuestionI have a desktop with Windows 7 64bit. The motherboard is a 'legacy' bios, not UEFI. So, I have only placed hard drives of 2TB or less into the desktop. Is it possible to use this external 8TB hard drive as storage and be able to 'see' the entire 8TB?

- Answer Having a legacy BIOS instead of UEFI would only prevent you from booting from this drive. Windows 7 supports GPT and will recognize and utilize this entire drive as a data storage device, regardless of whether your system is legacy BIOS or UEFI.

- Answer Depends on the damage, as with all hard drives light data loss can easily be restored with a bunch of disk utility software out there. Some are available for free, but unfortunately most are premium. Heavier/Physical damage are a lot harder to fix, it usually requires you shipping you disk off to folks who specialize in partition/data restoration. HINT: Try not to move your easystore around too much especially if it serves as a backup disk. (get a portable 500gb nand drive if you like taking your movies along with you)

QuestionCan this be run on my WiFi or router. My wife uses her iPad Pro and I use a surface pro 3. It would be nice to leave our photos in one place as well as important documents.

- Answer It needs a usb connection. If your router has one, try using a usb flash drive and see if you can see the flash drive on both devices. If you can accesss the flash drive you should be able to access the drive!

- Answer Yes but you will need to format it before using it with a utility called MFS formatter. The Tivo will then recognize all of the 8TBs.. If you don't you will be limited to 2TB

- Answer no worries, USB3.0 is backward compatible - however the transfers @USB2.0 rates are much slower so you may want to see if you can upgrade the host machine

- Answer Hello, Please be informed that the WD Easystore External drive is a plug 'n' play device tested and designed for Windows and Mac computers for seamless operation. You can backup the data on each drive separately using the backup software but it is not possible to backup on both the drives at the same time.
