We have not tested the drive on mobile devices or an iPad. We recommend you to use the computer to move the data from the phone to the drive. - Answer Hi Jerry, The WD My Passport for Mac 4TB External USB 3.0 drive does not have built-in network or wireless capabilities, so it cannot connect directly to your Spectrum WiFi for backups.

- Answer I believe this is an HDD(Hard Disk Drive) not a SSD(Solid State Drive) drive. Western Digital SSD drives are called My Passport SSD. The SSD WD drive that is SSD similar to the My Passport for Mac is ...(4TB) Part#: WDBAGF0040BGY-WESN My Passport™ SSD from WD According to the description it is both PC and Mac compatible. If you are using a Mac contact Apple help to see if the drive needs to be reformatted for your computer. I'm only familiar with SSC as a SATA drive although the web appears to use SSC and SSD(Solid State Drive) OUT OF THE BOX COMPATIBILITY No setup required. Ready to use right out of the box and compatible with PC and Mac. Equipped with USB 3.2 Gen-2 technology, the My Passport™ SSD comes with a USB-C™ cable and USB-A adaptor to work with legacy systems. QuestionIs this the same manufacturer that made the older Passports, which quickly failed for me and literally stopped working? I could never get back the pictures and videos stored on it.

- Answer OK, failure is always a possibility. If you have very valuable work that you wish to backup, I strongly suggest you get a smaller external drive and back up your valuable work there, then get another and back it up to that one. I doubt you would be unlucky enough to have two of them fail. I have only ever had one fail and it was backed up.

We have not tested the drive for mobile devices. I would like to inform you that its a portable hard disk and use it as a storage portable drive not a NAS drive. - Answer Yes you will. I purchased this because I had ran out of room on my MacBook Pro. It was freezing or taking for ever to perform simple tasks. What I found was iCloud was storing my files in the cloud and on my drive so I decided to use my iCloud for basic office files and transferred videos and photos onto this drive. Performs better than expected! Highly recommend

- Answer If you get the one that says “for MAC” —- not the one that says “for MAC or PC” you will be fine and don’t need any other software. Beware, I had to send one back that wanted additional software, and I didn’t want to be bothered with all of that.
