This RACHIO Iro 16ZULW 16-zone controller enables you to control your outdoor sprinkler system from the palm of your hand, using a compatible Wi-Fi-enabled Apple® or Google cell phone or tablet. Auto scheduling offers an ideal plan for your yard.
- Controller: Lets you operate your compatible outdoor sprinkler system using select Wi-Fi-enabled Apple iOS or Google-based Android cell phones and tablets for ease of use. Also supports Web-based operation.
- Works with Nest: Automatically begins cycling through your sprinkler zones if Nest Protect detects smoke. It wets down your outdoors and prevents fire from spreading to your community.
- Weather intelligence: Utilizes real-time weather data for your location and adjusts the sprinkler schedule accordingly, turning it off when rain is forecasted. Built-in software and Cloud-based information help conserve between 15-40% of water.
- Seasonalized: To adjust the watering times throughout different seasons based on temperature and location information.
- Automatic scheduling: Takes information regarding your zones, location and humidity levels and then creates a schedule for your yard. Smart cycle schedules the best watering cycles for your specific area.

Q: Is this 1st or 2 nd generation
A: This is our first generation controller. It uses the same software (app) as the second generation controller. To learn more about the differences, please see this community post: http://community.rachio.com/t/generation-2/2706
Q: do you replace the old sprinkler control and install this? My control is outside right now.
A: Yes, this completely replaces your old sprinkler controler. But all controls are via their website or app. So you won't have any manual controls on the device itself. I don't miss that at all. I love being able to set and check on my sprinklers from anywhere.
Q: Can this be mounted outdoors?
A: As long as the housing is in good shape, there is no reason this couldn't be mounted outside. Make sure you have a good wifi signal at the location you intend to install it.
A: You can certainly put two controllers next to each other, depending on your wiring set up, our team may need to assist with any technical questions that come up along the way. You will be able to control both units from your app under a single log in. The controllers will not know about each other, but we're happy to help get your schedule set up with recommendations. Q: These units are compatible with rainbird systems?
A: Rachio is compatible with nearly all 24 VAC systems - Rainbird, Orbit, Hunter, etc. Please contact [email protected] if you have any further questions.
A: Geri, we have two generations of controllers available; Generation 1 and Generation 2. Additionally, there is an 8 zone and 16 zone model for both generations of controllers. The 8 zone list price is $50 less than the 16 zone. A: Good question. We recommend only connecting one valve per terminal, however you can run two valves from the same terminal if you're not using a master valve. Hope this helps.
