It's an apple.. nuf said..
I'm an artist, and this is an awesome piece of artist's equipment. I use it with my iPad for when I'm using Vectornator, Procreate, and other creative apps and platforms.
I love the pressure-sensitivity!
I've looked at many, many other pen / pencil / stylus' out there but there's a reason why the Apple Pencil came out on top... I may be biased but I've found apple products do what they say they're going to, and they are more often than not... user-friendly!
I've been using a Wacom, which is great, but I needed something that I could use directly on my iPad so I could be creative on the go, and not stuck to my computer.
This really is a nice device. It's comfortable to use, it's responsive to even the slightest variation in pressure that my hand provides (which means I get excellent results when using pressure sensitivity for shading techniques, stroke techniques, and for the airbrush tools which are available in many creative software apps.
The only downfall I've found with this first get pencil is the really dumb way they decided to have you charge it... Let me rephrase that... the really dumb way you have as ONE option to charge it. There are two charging options...
1. To charge it via it plugged into the end of a charging cable, which is hooked to the end of the pencil.
-or-
2. To charge it via plugging it directly into your iPad's charging port (BAD IDEA).
The reason why the number two way to charge it is horrible is simply because it sticks straight out of your iPad like a fork sticking out of my dog's mouth. If my dog were to turn a corner while walking down the hall, there's a good chance that my dog will run that fork into the corner of the wall... well the same principle applies to having a stick sticking out of the end of my iPad. You will certainly break your iPad, Apple Pencil, or both if you don't make sure nothing will disturb it while it's charging.
They took care of that on the 2nd generation Apple Pencil, which rests nicely along the top of the iPad via a magnetic docking solution. However, I do believe that they knew they were going to do this from the day that they invented the Apple Pencil (1st Gen). They probably knew this would disturb people.. so let's just make another version a couple years later, and make sure that people have to buy a new iPad that's compatible with the new "magnetic docking" design.
OOPS... I'm babbling.
Anyway... Yes! Awesome in the utilitarian department... not so awesome in one of the charging options.

If you own an iPad Pro and are a student that likes/wants to take notes but keep losing the notebooks or the loose pieces of papers, then by all means, buy the Apple Pencil. You won't regret it. Great quality build and works perfectly every time. Another great Apple product. A bit overpriced, but if you know how to use this properly, the cost is well worth it. For designers, it's a no brainer, of course. A must have.

I'm a med student, and I've loved using a tablet to take notes. As I got an iPad, I wanted to get the pencil to round out the full experience.
I think the Apple Pencil is alright. I don't like that it doesn't have an eraser on the end, like the Surface pens do. The tip wore down in less than a month of (admittedly pretty heavy) use, and I had to put the spare on. It writes well, and I get a lot more out of the iPad by having this, but it's not very intuitive to use. Also, it's kind of weird to have a moderately expensive electronic just floating around, I wish the iPad came with a pencil holder or something. Ah, well.

Way better than a regular pencil. The pressure sensitivity is insane! Shading from light to dark while drawing is amazing with ZERO hand fatigue. Made me a believer that digital art is the future. Excellent product even though it’s a pricy, you can feel the quality when you hold it in your hand. Way to go Apple, great work

I got this for my sister for her bday…. SHE LOVED IT!!!! She loves drawing so I’m so excited for her to start drawing digitally. My only recommendation is to research which iPad you have first cause this one works with the reg iPad and NOT the iPad Air/ pro

To complement my iPad Pro 10.5 my family decided to purchase the Apple Pencil. I was confident the tool was a gimmick. But I quickly discovered otherwise. The Apple Pencil works seamlessly with most of the business apps on my iPad. I regularly use it with the MS Office. It has become indispensable when I am giving presentations. If you are a power user this will quickly become your go to tool with your iPad.

Bought as a present for my granddaughter and she loves it. Is making amazing drawings. Just be sure you get the right generation pen. Originally bought newer version but granddaughter’s older iPad had to have the older version 1

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my wife, and she loves it. While shopping around I saw a few options that were not Apple for about half the price, but opted to go with this item. She is happy with it, and you know what they say, happy wife happy life, lol. She uses it with her iPad, and has more control and accuraccy.
