I recently purchased the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 from Best Buy and have been thoroughly impressed with its performance and design. This laptop is a true powerhouse, combining portability with incredible computing capabilities. As someone who engages in 3D rendering, frequent travel, and occasional gaming, this laptop has proven to be a versatile companion for my needs. Design and Build (5/5): The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 boasts a sleek and eye-catching design in Moonlight White. Its compact and lightweight build makes it exceptionally easy to carry around, which is perfect for my on-the-go lifestyle. The laptop's build quality is top-notch, and it exudes a premium feel. I particularly appreciate the attention to detail and how neatly it is made. Performance (4/5): Equipped with an AMD Ryzen 9 processor and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 GPU, this laptop delivers impressive performance for a wide range of tasks. 3D rendering, in particular, runs smoothly and efficiently, providing the power I need for my creative work. Gaming, although not my primary use, is also a breeze, thanks to the capable hardware. Display (5/5): The 14-inch QHD display with a 165Hz refresh rate is nothing short of stunning. The visuals are sharp, colors are vibrant, and the high refresh rate enhances the overall viewing experience, whether I'm working on complex 3D models or enjoying some gaming during my downtime. Battery Life (4/5): Considering the power-packed hardware, the battery life is respectable. I get around 6-7 hours of usage on average, which is decent for a laptop of this caliber. However, it's important to note that heavy tasks like 3D rendering will naturally drain the battery more quickly. Connectivity (3/5): Now, let's address the one downside I've encountered with this laptop—the Wi-Fi card. While the laptop is equipped with Wi-Fi 6, I've noticed that the Wi-Fi card's performance isn't up to par with the rest of the hardware. For someone who relies on a stable and fast internet connection, this can be a bit frustrating. I would recommend considering upgrading the Wi-Fi card for better connectivity. In conclusion, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 is a fantastic laptop that caters to professionals and gamers alike. Its remarkable design, powerful performance, and stunning display make it a compelling choice for a variety of tasks. However, the subpar Wi-Fi card is a minor drawback that potential buyers should be aware of. With a simple upgrade in that department, this laptop would be virtually flawless. Overall, I am delighted with my purchase, and it has greatly enhanced my productivity and entertainment experience on the go. If you can overlook the Wi-Fi card issue or are willing to invest in an upgrade, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 is an excellent choice for a portable powerhouse.

Once you’ve finished going cross-eyes over specs, go look at the display model for the g14. Pictures can make it look flimsy but it has a great composition and feel. The open hinge and aluminum lid are smooth and rigid and usually cool to the touch. When GPUs heat up, the extra lift from the hinge really lets it breathe well on any flat surface. The 14” screen with 1440p display is beautiful in any light and cleanly responsive in all resolution / frequencies I’ve tested and switches easily. The RTX 4060 has impressed me by pushing most of my games into the Ultra space and allowed me to play steam VR games with the Meta Quest 2. It takes the stock power block (240w) and Ethernet adapter which renders the laptop immobile but then you have VR so… To play more on-the-go you can scale games down medium to high and run on a USB-C charger. I have been able to play Overwatch 2 and even CoD with 100w charger without draining the battery while playing. I HIGHLY recommend getting a magnetic USB-C adapter day one, which should allow up to 140w charge. A protection plan might cover a charge port but it’s easier to replace the adapter The 780m discrete gpu is surprisingly capble at playing FPS games in the medium to low settings for maybe an hour on battery. Future ready, NvME SSD 512gb super fast but full after 10 games, 16-32gb DDR5 4800 upgrades very easy. Windows 11 home is stable and intuitive. Asus ships several options to control performance and fans so you can get power where you want it

Amazing Balance of Power and Portability I recently upgraded to the Asus Zephyrus G14 2023 model with the RTX 4060, and I've been thoroughly impressed with its performance and design. Having owned the 2022 G14, I was excited to see how the 4060 version would fare, and it exceeded my expectations. This laptop strikes a fantastic balance between power and thermals, all at an attractive price point. The sleek and lightweight body design exudes a premium feel, while the white color not only looks great but also stays remarkably clean. Unleashing Unexpected Power At first, I had reservations about the RTX 4060's capability, but I was proven wrong. The 16 TFLOPS power in this laptop surprised me, enabling me to achieve upwards of 125 FPS on QHD resolution in games like MW2. It handles every game I throw at it, including titles like Dead Space and Cyberpunk 2077. The nebula display's 500 nits brightness delivers crisp visuals, with minimal backlight bleed – just a slight bit in the bottom right corner. Movies and YouTube videos are a treat, thanks to Dolby Atmos-supported speakers. I'm even planning to upgrade the storage and RAM to enhance its capabilities further. Cool, Quiet, and Ready for Anything One standout feature is how cool and quiet the laptop remains even during extended gaming sessions. Compared to last year's model, it's noticeably cooler and quieter, providing a much more comfortable gaming experience. The RGB backlit keyboard adds a stylish touch and contributes to the overall immersive feel. Unmatched Performance The Ryzen 9 7940HX CPU coupled with the RTX 4060 GPU delivers impeccable performance. While there are some optimizations required to make the most of its potential, once set up, the laptop handles AAA titles with ease. It's worth noting that playing while plugged in provides a substantial performance boost compared to running on battery. Display settings and GPU utilization can be fine-tuned for optimal gaming experience. Stunning Display and Design The laptop boasts a stunning 2.5k 165Hz display with 500 nits brightness and a wide color gamut, making it perfect for gaming and creative work. The symmetrical and futuristic design, along with the white clamshell, adds to its aesthetic appeal. The hinge design not only looks great but also improves keyboard comfort. Exceptional Keyboard and Trackpad Asus excels in keyboard and trackpad design, and the Zephyrus G14 is no exception. The responsive keyboard with its well-spaced keys and thoughtful layout enhances the overall typing experience. The glass-like trackpad is a standout feature with its smooth surface and responsiveness. The Ideal Blend of Performance and Portability To sum it up, the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 2023 model offers exceptional performance and portability. Its powerful internals, stunning display, thoughtful design, and impressive keyboard and trackpad make it an excellent choice for gamers and creators alike. The laptop's thermal management is impressive, ensuring cool and quiet gaming sessions. If you're seeking an RTX 4060 gaming laptop, the ROG Zephyrus G14 is an outstanding option that won't disappoint. Highly recommended!

Excellent little powerhouse. Just like a lot of us, our work lives, hobby lives, personal lives, and gaming habits revolve around our computers. I needed a computer that could do all of these things while being portable, and this little machine holds up. The battery life, as long as you’re on the right setting for power consumption, can get you a good 4 hours while doing light loads. I work on unity games at a coffee shop for a good 3 hours before I consider reaching into my backpack for the charger. Gaming works well, I can play most titles at acceptable frame rates at 4k, and most games on full settings at 2k. It’s lightweight, beautiful, great typing experience, and trackpad feel, and it can take whatever you can throw at it all at a decent price.

Pros: This is an awesome laptop with great preformance and good (its a gaming laptop) battery life. The first thing I did was to run cinebench r23 and she goes! I have yet to actually utilize 100% of the cpu in any daily task or game, perfect for future proofing. The rtx 4060 is a small monster that can play most of my steam library at native res high settings. The last pro would be the battery life. It is better than 95% of all the other gaming laptops, at least on battery saving. I would point you toward Jarodd's tech (i think) if you want a much fuller review. Ok. Lastly, ITS WHITE! the color is kinda nice but, oh boy, have a microfiber cloth to go. And it is small (in a good way). Cons: Price. I got it on sale. Thank goodness. Also, when the gpu starts to get to about 75-80 degrees c, the fans sound like an f-22 doing a flyover 50 ft from the ground. However, the fans don't scream (pitch), which makes the noise MUCH more bearable. I had a chromebook before this fellow and its fan (yes, one) had the ability to act as a dog whistle. Summary: Very good. Buy if you like a snazzy laptop that can fit snuggly in your bag. I wish there was a darker color that didn't attract all the pencil lead in your bag.

This model with the 4060 seems to have the right balance of power and thermals at a great price. I have the 2022 G14 with the 6700 as well. My son fell in love with it, so I gave it to him for college. The laptop is nice and light with a solid build and just feels very premium. The white color looks great and is super easy to keep clean. I want to be honest here and tell everyone at first, I did not think the 4060 version would be powerful enough for what I wanted to do. I found out this 4060 on this laptop has 16 TFLOPS! I am able to get upwards of 125 FPS on MW2 when gaming at QHD and this model can run any game I have, Dead space and Cyber punk 2077 etc. The nebula display is wonderful at 500 nits of brightness and looks crisp and clear. I have almost 0 backlight bleed when I ran the test. Just a tiny bit in the bottom right corner. I can hardly notice it, but it is there. When watching movies or YouTube it is a real treat. The sound from the speakers is amazing for such a small laptop. Yes, it has Dolby Atmos! I am about to add a 2TB SSD and another 16 GB of ram for about $200 as this one is a keeper! Why spend more for what I don't need is my thought. I feel for $1599 you get what you pay for. Another big surprise to me was how cool this laptop stays for long gaming sessions. It is much quieter and cooler than last year's model. Overall, I highly recommend this year's model with the 4060 and have had 0 issues with it from day 1.

    Pretty Reasonable Machine

While I've got a solid desktop for my main work at home, having something reasonably portable and capable when traveling was what I was looking for here. My previous laptop was a 2016 Razer Blade 14, which served me well (until the battery gave up), so a similar sized and reasonably powerful machine was what I was looking for (without the major cost of a Razer device). Battery life is solid. Being a secondary device, I primarily was charging it very infrequently (~ 1 time a week or so), and even when I was using it for web and work related tasks, it had plenty of life for what I needed (Windows reported as high as 13hrs, but I wasn't too sure about that). Gaming Performance was reasonable for the games that I'd keep on a travel device (a mix of singleplayer and multiplayer mainstream titles). It is a little jarring when the computer switches from the AMD integrated GPU to the Nvidia GPU as the screen goes black briefly when it switches over. Keyboard feels pretty good for typing, good key-travel and feel. And the trackpad is nice, felt pretty reasonable (though I daily drive plugging in a mouse) Upgradeability is acceptable with 1 DDR5 SO-DIMM slot available and you can change out the stock NVME SSD with a larger capacity one. ASUS has pretty solid documentation on how to do these upgrades on their support site (both upgrades I did on my own). Note: the stock RAM on the machine is soldered onto the mainboard. I/O is reasonable for a laptop this size, no complaints here. The webcam has Windows Hello facial recognition which is nice, and does 1080p video which is also nice. I'm not a huge fan of the power adapter plugging in midway on the left side of the chassis, though that is due to their design of the display and the cooling system taking up the back half of the chassis. It's manageable none the less. I would have preferred the power adapter plugging in further back on the chassis. Speaking of the power adapter, a 240W power adapter is pretty chunky, so do have some room for that in your bag. All things considered so far, I really like this laptop for the feature set and price. Get some hands on time if it's at a local store. Cool things for future iterations Would be nice if USB-C PD 240W existed and the charger used USB-C for charging rather than the barrel jack.

Wanted something more reliable than a basic mac so I could work on college assignments and play games while saving money since I don’t play console. I went ahead and splurged on this laptop a while back. Great performance on the laptop so far. I downloaded RDR2, Sea of Thieves, Subnautica, Diablo4, Overwatch, LOL, VAL, Fortnite, and other smaller games (only have OW, SoT, and Diablo4, and Roblox as of this moment). Fan gets really loud when in turbo/high performance mode which makes sense, majority of the stuff I play takes heavy storage space and the battery isn’t late, but it’s always plugged in so I don’t have much of an issue on that part. Bit of a slow startup when loading bigger games but I’m more than patient to play my favorites. This things pretty awesome.

I’ve owned many computers. And this fits every need. I love the size, performance and battery life. You won’t regret this purchase! I upgraded the ram by adding a 16gb stick in making it 32 gb and upgraded the storage to a 1tb ssd. This laptop unlike others is easy to get into and fix. Display is amazing! I play with a laptop stand and a little fan to help with cooling and I’ve had no issues at all with cooling!

If you are looking for a light, portable gaming & daily work (media editing) laptop then this is it! Great specs, awesome battery life, good price. I use as a daily work (audio engineer, media editor) laptop and of course I do game a bit on it in my free time. Performance per dollar is insane. Yes, ssd is a bit small but an easy upgrade which still makes this laptop a great value.

The 2023 ASUS G14 with RTX 4060 has been a perfect choice for me as a college student. Its impressive performance handles everything I throw at it, from heavy multitasking to gaming and graphic-intensive tasks. The RTX 4060 ensures smooth gameplay and quick rendering times, while the Ryzen 9 cpu is great for my workload. One of the standout features is the battery life—it’s amazing! I can go 9+ hours or a full day of classes without worrying about it dying unlike my(ahem HP). It is alsp sooo light. How do you do it Asus??

It does everything I need it to do and exceeded what I expected. Good battery life considering the specs. I can run almost every game I play at max graphics with some in the high 90's and most well over 130. Great for studio work with an extra display. One problem is the thermals the top sometimes gets so hot its kinda hard to touch without it being seriously uncomfortable. It never affected my typing experice though since the keyboard stays decently cool. I'm very happy with this purchase and strongly reccomend anyone looking for a good price to perfomance for high end laptops. screen gets very bright and looks great. It gets noisy but all gaming laptops do. Lot's of cool details in the design of this laptop.

Bought this on the BF deal of $1149. Upgraded the SSD to 2TB and the ram to 48GB. The size and speed of this thing is sweet. The screen is perfect. Battery life could be better but with some tweaking with settings, its acceptable. Definitely recommend this if you can get it on sale and I'm sure with the holidays not over just yet, it could go on sale again.

Pros - Performs brilliantly and 165 hz screen is very smooth. - Comes with game pass and runs any game you throw at it with atleast 60 hz. - Touchpad is precise and keyboard is joy to use. RGB lovers paradise- so many color options to choose from (Ghelper makes it easy to change RGB colors). - While not Macbook good, speakers do sound pretty decent. Be sure to change it to dynamic mode from Dolby app that comes with the app. - GHelper is awesome open source control tool for Asus laptops. Pls install it and remove Asus's Armoury Crate for your sanity. Cons - Battery life is far from the best. If you lower refresh rate to 60hz and in efficiency mode it does run longer by an hour or so. But after being used to 165 hz, running it at 60 hz feels depressing. At 165 hz and in silent mode with GPU off you're looking at only 5 hrs of battery life while doing lightweight office tasks with Youtube videos here and there. - While the touchpad is precise, the bottom portion of it feels wobbly. It just gives unfinished experience and speaks less quality. - The surface where your palm rests feels quite rough especially in the first month and smoothens slowly. Kind of nitpicky but just figured i would lay it out. - The app- Armoury Crate that comes with the laptop feels clunky. Pls replace it with open source app called GHelper as soon as you get this laptop.

I like it very much. Very powerful, power efficient device. I liked everything about it EXCEPT It has some issues with display. The screen itself is awesome, but because it has 2k resolution, it has some issues with apps that are not optimized for that(quite a lot of apps). You will have to set high DPI settings for each app that didn't work well(. But overall, I totally recommend it. Battery life after some optimization lasts very long.

This laptop can run RDR2 with high to ultra settings and have more than 70 fps with DLSS enabled. 4060 is more than capable of running games at 1600p. CPU is even faster compare to GPU. It is very light weight, easy to carry around. I usually get around 7 to 8 hours of battery when DGPU is disabled. Please note that the resolution is 2560*1600 with 16:10 aspect ratio. Most games support 16:10 but you have to use 16:9 for games that don’t support it. The display is beautiful even though it’s not OLED. The stereo is great with built in dolby atoms. The fan noise can get a bit loud during gameplay with turbo mode but it’s not a deal breaker. 512gb SSD is relatively small which is the only downside of this model. And there is only one SSD slot so you have to swap it to have a larger SSD. Overall it has great performance and you should pick one up when it’s on sale.

I'm overall pleased with the laptop except one thing. The battery. After one month of usage with the laptop plugged in most of the time I've already lost about 7.5% of the battery capacity. The battery has a design capacity of 76,000 mWh but after the first month of use won't charge above roughly 71,000 mWh. It's been stable at that level for a few months. It runs Llama 3.1 7B in LMStudio very fast on the 4060. The NPU driver has to be installed manually from AMD's website and is still Beta software and I've only found one piece of software call Amuse 2.0.0 that makes very light use of it so far.
