We had an epson inkjet printer and unless we used it on a regular basis it would dry out and need to be cleaned 2/3 times before operating properly again - became very frustrating .

I found the operational interface to be quirky and not user friendly. Also, no matter app and updates, I could not get the scanner to scan from the printer unit, only from my computer.

Cost a bit more but you're getting a feature packed device that prints only Black and White. You can Scan in color. These devices are what I'm replacing awful HP versions we have and so far, there has been little to no complaints. The toner install is easy that I taught my users how to do it. Thus far it's been a very Brother experience. Here's hoping it continues that way.
