We replaced our Canon printer with what we thought would be as good as the previous Canon printer. While this one will do the job, it isn't as good as our previous Canon printer.

The Canon - Pixma TR8620a Wireless All-In-One Inkjet Printer is a solid multi-functional printer that does it all in a fairly compact footprint. It can be a good addition to any home or small office or nowadays a work-from-home situation. I’ve owned many laser and inkjet printers from HP and Epson and actually used the nearly identical Canon TR8620 model about 2 years ago. The 8620a is pretty much the same, probably some bug fixes and minor improvements and as far as I can tell the Bluetooth printing option is gone, though I never used it before. The only other feature I wasn’t able to test was the FAX, since I no longer have access to an analog phone line, but it’s a good legacy feature to have just in case. The setup is very easy through the large built-in 4.3” LCD touchscreen display. The prints are high quality, crisp colors and dark blacks. The better quality photo paper you use, the better the prints will be.
Pros:
* Easy to use 4.3” touch-screen LCD, almost double the size of the competition
* Animated instructions on LCD how to install ink cartridges, and beeping to confirm successful install
* Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) scanning for up to a stack of 20 sheets
* Automatic 2-sided printing, saves paper and trees
* Wireless smartphone (both iPhone and Android) as well as Chromebook printing
* Multiple paper feeding options - bottom, back and top, depending on paper and print type
* Built-in SD-card reader, can view and print pictures directly from it
* Unique 5-cartridge system that offers greater, more accurate print quality
* Many connectivity options, USB, wired Ethernet, WiFi, Web/App
* A few 4x6" sheets of high gloss photo paper included - nice touch
Cons (minor):
* Slower printing (but higher quality) than other comparable Inkjet printers 10-15 ppm
* Bottom paper tray feels fragile and is a bit confusing to refill
* Control panel has to be raised in order to print
* Lower capacity (100) than other comparable printers
* Only lower capacity starter ink cartridges included

I'm very tech-savvy. This printer has had connectivity issues from the first day I installed it. The software interface is pathetic. The paper output is a 2 inch wide guide that often results in the paper falling off the printer. I've had it for only two months and now it won't function at all. I get a "Support Code 6004." Canon Support wants $129 to have a technician "fix" it. Best Buy wants $99 to send out a technician. I'm annoyed and frustrated.

I am so disappointed with this printer. I thought it would be an upgrade but it is more work to deal with everything from paper loading to printing. I had never had a printer that wasn't turned on automatically by a wireless command to print. There is one printer for 4 computers and yesterday it took a while to have it print for one in household which never happened before.

If i could give NO STARS i would. I am 44 yrs old & have purchased HP printers for decades. I decided to try something new to my demise. This printer has been the ABSOLUTE PIT of hell since the day i plugged it in! It NEVER works...every single print stalls! I must tend to every print in order to get anything. If i print double-sided it picks of 4 pages. This is the worst printer I've ever had. I will NEVER EVER buy Cannon again. It's so bad i won't consider a camera feom them either.

It is not nearly as good or easy to use as the Canon TR8620a printer I bought from you several years ago, and it costs about $100 more. In order to print any document, you have to open it, turn it on (again), pull out the receiving arm, and then press print. Much more complex and distracting. Not suitable for anyone who likes to write and print out document.

Purchased this printer as my previous Canon printer was fine. This one is far lesser quality in general, the plastic arm that must be extended when printing falls off. You must push that tray and arm back in order to pull out the paper tray. you can not easily put paper in the tray, you must take a piece off, put the paper in and than make several attempts to put the piece back just right (and it is cheap plastic) before you can print
