    Better Than I Anticipated

First found this as a kickstarter project a while ago. Then i quite recently i discovered the project was a success! This little OBD tool far exceeds my expections. I have been using it for a month in my little old car(2001 Nissan Altima) and the performance has been great. I get faithful and accurate readings for my commute between home and work each day, which is easily reviewed in the companion app in the Google Play store(also works on iOS). Packaging doubles as a thermos which is pretty cool. Setup was straighforward and easy, and i like the fact that if i should get into an accident the device actual captures data right up to impact, and stores it in the cloud on my account for later retrieval. When an accident occurs 911 is immediately called and a GPS location sent out to responders. My wife is also immediately notified via call and text as well. Terrific and amazing little piece of tech. I highly recommend it to car enthusaists, tech geeks like myself, or anyone for that matter who wishes to know a little more about their car's health(fuel consumption too if your car's computer chip is supported) and to feel safe in the event of an accident.

    Alternative to "OnStar"

The Automatic sensor turns your car into a "smart car!" Provides audible feedback to help improve your vehicles fuel efficiency (i.e. sudden braking & acceleration, driving over 70 MPH etc.) The best part of the device is the accident notification feature ... providing after an accident or high "g" force occurrence, the company's 24/7 service provider will attempt to call you to ensure your safety. If they can not reach you, they will attempt to call up to 3 ICE (In Case of Emergency) contacts. Cool peace of mind for families!

This tool is fun to use and pretty accurate, but it does come with one flaw that is pretty annoying. It disconnects way too often. There will be days where it works flawlessly, but other days where I have to manually connect it again to my phone. It saves your parking location which is very cool and useful (at least for me), it tells you your mpg, which coincides with the fuel economy my Q5 tells me, and most importantly, it monitors your driving behavior. I realized that I brake hard very often and it has definitely helped me be more aware of that. It also diagnoses issues your car may have, but thankfully I'm not there yet. Don't buy this if your car gives you 3 mpg and you think you'll get 20 mpg if you purchase an Automatic. But do buy it if you are like me and look for any cool toy to add on to your already cool car. It makes driving your car feel like a video game exam, where if you accelerate too fast or brake too hard, it makes a sound to alert you.

purchased this to find out why my check engine light was on, not only gave me the code but told me in the app what the code meant. Tracking feature I'm now using on my daughters car, only downside is she has to have her bluetooth on, if not it does not track. If the dongle would have some sort of internal memory it woudl be a 5 star.

    Great Concept Product

This product is pretty cool, it tracks your mileage and fuel consumption as well as gives you a gps outline on where you drove. However, the gps is probably one of the most inaccurate units I have seen. For example, I am driving straight on a road for at least 8 miles, After the trip I check the log and it tells me that I went off the road made a left turn, then a right turn, drove for a quarter mile, made another turn back to the main road. The next issue I have with the device is the score. As you may have read in other reviews it deducts points for driving over 70mph. Well since most of my driving is done on the highway my average weekly score is under a 20. They really need to adjust this feature if they want me to buy this product for personal use. On another note I decided to keep the units for my work van so I can keep track of millage. That it does pretty great minus the sometimes inconsistent GPS. If you really must have this device then get it, however if you are on the fence I would wait till something better comes out or they decide to release a newer version.

I replaced a competitive product with the Automatic because I was completely disappointed with the other product. Although not perfect the Automatic is providing informative data regarding my driving habits. The Good: Very easy to install and set up. Desktop app very accurately shows my trips and stops. The Bad: Somewhat of a delay connecting via Bluetooth to my iPhone.

This device is good to capture the check engine error codes from your car, as well as mileage, but it would have been awesome if it could decifer the manufacturer-specific codes (TPM, etc). Overall, a good device, but a little short on overall features & usefulness.

Great tool for tracking your vehicle status

After finding this product when viewing a YouTube video, I was interested in the possibilities this device could bring. I was mostly interested in the ability of the device to let me know when something was wrong with my vehicle. It also says it is able to help you improve your driving and gas mileage but alerting you with subtle beeps. It was a little difficult to setup initially, at first it did not register my vehicle but it was a brand new one, so that might have been the why it did not recognize at first, second try worked perfectly. After about a couple of weeks, I actually began having some connectivity problems, in which the device would not even register my drives, and I would sometimes have to disconnect and reconnect the bluetooth for it to find the device. Although the trips were not showing on the app, they were captured on the dongle itself (I am assuming this, since once the device would connect, the trips would be showing up on the app). Overall, I think it's a good device to diagnose any issues you might have with your vehicle and also help track how many trips, mileage, MPG, etc you make throughout the week. Still needs a little bit of work, but hopefully they fix so of the bugs with later app or firmware updates. Customer support is actually really good at replying to your emails.

The Automatic driving companion is very easy to install and connect. This device has very useful in so many ways but my most v favorite feature is the v emergency contact in case of a collision, notifying any 3 people of the accident along with paramedic notification to allow you the best possible outcome in case of injury.

Automatic has already saved me gas, it helps to keep me aware of gas wasting events. I have found that I am much more aware of my driving and it reminds me to stop braking hard, accelerating to fast, and driving over 70 mph. The other feature that is amazing is when my check engine light comes on I immediately get a notification telling me what the issue is and it gives me the option to clear the light. VERY HELPFUL

    Smart device for car nerds

This Automatic is the second one I've bought, I purchased the first one while it was on sale online through another site. I bought this one to go into my partner's vehicle, also on sale as the newer version came out.. This item will tell you what a Check engine light is on for, it tracks your fuel usage, monitors when you have hard accelerations & hard stops, it has crash alert (haven't had to use that!) which allows you to put in your cell # plus up to 3 emergency contacts. It also "grades" you deducting for hard accels, hard stops, and time travelling over 70 mph. You start every day at at a score of 100 and points are deducted for any of those, I'm currently after 5 days of driving at a weekly score 90 with 3 hard brakes, 4 hard accels, and 8 minutes over 70 mph, that weekly score of 90 puts me in the bottom 41% of all Automatic drivers. My original one occasionally has issues connecting to my iPhone, but it still records the trip data & adds it to the app the next time they connect. This one we've had issues where it always thinks my partner's car is low on fuel even when she's recently filled it (her fuel gauge works fine), I believe she filed a "report a problem" for that.

not just to "window shop" either, I actually make many purchases. I saw this in a package while I was looking at Bluetooth headsets. and as I read more about it on the package I was sold almost immediately. it will plug into your fuse box with such ease that even my elderly grandmothers could do this installation. it gives you amazing detail about what is going inside your vehicle - from how often you brake hard, time spent over the sped limit, and even the grade of fuel you are using. I would recommend this to anyone, and on more thing---it will give you a scare out of 100 after each trip and an avg score every week-comparing you to other drivers with automatic, and probably a few other factors go into thagt score too. this product has significantly improved my driving.

The good: tracks fuel and trips, useful for mileage tracking for work The bad: does not give you access to engine data other than trouble codes. I purchased this one to replace a generation one, since that model has trouble connecting to phones reliably. I use this on the company van I work for as a backup to see when I left and how many miles traveled. I also use it on my Father's van for the same purpose for him, so he has a backup if he forgets to fill out his mileage log. I put my Gen1 unit on my personal vehicle, as I don't really care if trips are missing on that one. recommendations all come with a caveat - if you're using it for mileage tracking for work, it's great. If you're looking for something to give you access to ECM and engine data, this is not what you want.

This is a good tool for acknowledging your driving skills. Reads gas mileage, distance, how much you spent, and maps everywhere you go. Wish it could work with my Iwatch as indicated. This would be superior if was also a tuner. Fun gadget.

This is a nice little thing. It gives you a driver score and your score takes a hit each time you go above 70mph or accelerate or brake hard and you get an audible tone from the device as well. Also, keeps a car mileage log and tells your trip costs ( in terms of fuel used). Very nice. It can give you error codes and allows you to clear a check engine light if so happens. And finally, it keeps a track of where you parked your car and you can use your phone to find your way back to the car. However, that's all it does on it's own. It does not tell you intricate details about your engine like RPM or temperature etc. You will have to install paid apps that work with it if you want a real-time engine dashboard and there are plenty of them.

The pros: You can reset your check engine light Tells you the code that trips the light with an explanation Helps to break down gas mileage statistics to a very granular level The Cons: You can not adjust the sensors that dictate when you are accelerating too fast, making hard stops, etc. which in my opinion are subjective statistics Can take a little while to register with the phone after starting the car All in all though the pros definitely outweigh the cons, great if you drive for rideshare or have nutty kids that drive your car.

This is one of this gadgets that I think are a "plus". It works great, minus the occasional error where it can't link to the phone, but you only really use it if your engine light comes on... Which is super rare. Being able to track where you drove and how much gas you used is cool but I stopped checking it after a few trips and after learning the average consumption from home to work and the occasional trip. There is also the feature that helps you with your driving habits, which will make the device beep if you accelerate too fast or break too hard.. That got annoying real quick so I silenced it. I wouldnt suggest this to a friend at the moment with these functionalities.. Unless you have the extra cash and are curious about gas consumption for your car.
