Customers are satisfied with the S3220DGF monitor's screen size, refresh rate, and resolution, frequently praising its suitability for gaming and work. Many appreciate the monitor's quality, HDR capabilities, and FreeSync technology, although some noted the absence of built-in speakers and the monitor's weight as drawbacks. A few users reported issues with dead pixels or ghosting, but these concerns were less prevalent than positive feedback. The curved screen is also a feature that many users enjoyed.

I just picked this monitor up as a second monitor and I really like it. The colors are good and there is no lag. I almost bought a 27" monitor, but I am glad I bought this larger 32" screen. It's quite impressive and the blacks are quite good on this which is what I wanted for watching in darker environments. I like the adjustments up/dpwm. side to side, and tilt. I also watch youtube and netflix on it and it is excellent for that and has a sharp vibrant image. HDR works well on this monitor. I got it for $379 and it's well worth that price.

This monitor is awesome. I upgraded from a 1080p, 60Hz monitor and the differences are astounding.
The resolution upgrade to 1440p is great. Everything looks sharper and games look much more nicer. It's hard to go back to 60Hz now that I've been using 165Hz. The smoothness is noticeable, especially in games like Overwatch. The color quality is spectacular as well.
I also wanted to note that this monitor is HUGE. However, the curve helps with the size and looks gorgeous.
I would definitely recommend this monitor, especially if you find one on sale!

A little on the expensive side for a Computer monitor but it dose look great. Takes a little time for your eyes to adjust to it but again it just makes everything look that much better. Love playing games on it. The ONLY reason i gave it a lower score for value is due to its cost. Honestly for $350 i could buy a larger smart TV and use it to watch tv, stream and play games on the ps4, ps5. This is only good for the computer (and yes i play games and watch streaming on it, but you get the point)

The only criteria I had for a monitor purchase was that it be 32" and 144hz minimum, this monitor fits both those choices and gives me 20mhz more although you'd be hard pressed to see the difference. The Dell S3220dgf is a nice monitor for computer or console gaming. The HDR400 seems to only work with HDMI which also means you'll only get 144hz max because 165hz requires a Display Port 1.4 cable which the box does not contain, it only has a Display Port 1.2 cable. The only issue I have had with this monitor is when Freesync is enabled using an Nvidia gpu there is flickering only in some gaming menus, such as when you're changing setting or waiting for a match to start. If you have a high end nvidia gpu ie 3080, 3090 then you can leave freesync off with no issues at all.

Upgraded to this from a 27" gaming monitor, the size difference is noticeably pleasant & I got adjusted to it within a week. Comes with crisp settings straight out of the box so I didn't adjust the colors or anything.
When I first set it up on HDMI, it was outputting only 60hz, to fix it I went into the NVIDIDA control panel -> monitor settings & changed the refresh rate to 144hz.
Value-wise, the standard price I saw on this for most of the year was $450, only ended up purchasing on black friday for $300. I wouldn't recommend buying unless you can secure it for $300.
Only minor complaint I have is it doesn't come with a miniDP cable which I would've preferred over HDMI.

This is quite a nice display. Decent color out of the box but after calibrating it punches above its weight class. I was lucky on the panel lottery and got one with great uniformity. Viewing angles are better than many other VA panels i've compared though still not up to par with a good ips. Brightness and contrast are fantastic however. This montitor is quite comparable to the Samsung C32HG70. I believe they share the same panel except that the samsung has the better binned one that can consistently do 600nits. 165hz resfresh is game changing if coming from 100hz or less display like my old ultrawide.
Now, the HDR feature of this monitor is a bullet point in the box at most. For HDR you need 1000nits and a backlight array (both of which every monitor of this class and size lack.) When using it for the 1st time one thinks they are seeing a difference but upon toggling it on and off in a variety of games you realize the picture isn't improving much and in some cases it worsens, but mostly it stays the same. What you initially saw was the already exceptional native vivid and clean picture this monitor produces, it has great contrast and really good brightness, it's almost HDR like as is, regardless of HDR being toggled on/off.
When engaging HDR; both with freesync on/off, not only does the image quality not change but introduces a quirk that whenever an OSD or screen overlay action is initiated (such as changing volume and a volume bar is visible on screen or using STEAM overlay or notification pop-ups) the screen drops brightness and over-saturates for like 3 seconds then recovers. Any such action will trigger it and a continuous action perpetuates it until action is done.
This monitor btw was a steal at $350 and a bargain at $450. HDR is not the reason to own this monitor. Color accuracy is outstanding after calibration, brightness is great, refresh rate is at the top of its class, and the 3000:1 rated contrast is closer to 3000:1 than many other VA panels that claim as much. Those are the reasons to own this monitor. The 1800r curve on paper may seem aggressive but in this aspect ratio it is hardly an issue.

I love this thing! It looks great, great size, great colors, a touch of true HDR base level, AMD free Sync support, 165hz is tooooo nice as well. I also love all the usb ports for charging stuff and powering my speakers instead of having to plug them into a wall socket. Slight goofy added bonus, this "tricks" the PS5 into outputting a "4k" signal and does 60 or 120hz easy as pie for it. If you can wait for a sale like I did, its even sweeter.

Coming form a HP omen 32inch 1440p 75hz. The dell is so much better. Colors Pop, Curved is really immersive, HDR is amazing! and 165hz is buttery smooth in all games i have played so far. This monitor has everything you will ever need in a gaming monitor.
Now the only con/Flaw is something called free-sync flicker. It was driving me nuts and almost returned the monitor. After google searching the issue i did the following fix below:
What I did to fix the issue is downloaded an application called CRU ( Custom Resolution Utility) With this application I changed the free sync range from 48-164hz to 48-161hz. This stopped the dreaded free sync flicker.( AWESOME!) Hopefully this is something dell is aware of and will fix in the next firmware updates ( not holding breath lol.)
All and all a great monitor minus the little fix you will need to do to stop the free-sync flicker.

Fantastic quality at a reasonable price. Picture is amazing once calibrated.
My current rig cannot run 60+fps 144+Hz in 4K so this 1440p 32" monitor is a great compromise. I have two for an eventual dual monitor setup. I had to exchange one since it had a few dead pixels and got one with a semi-stuck power button, but I'd rather deal with that then play the dead pixel lottery again--my luck has been awful.

Bright high pixel and refresh rate just what I was looking for. No dead pixels, looks like a clean and high-quality monitor. I got 2 and setting them up was a breeze, Plug and play, Installing the base was also simple no tools required just pops in. The hardest part was moving it around as the monitor is heavy.
This monitor is extremely adjustable with the base that comes with the monitor. You can move them way up or way down or tilt left or right to get your perfect adjustment.

Ask pretty much anyone what makes a good gaming monitor, and many people will tell you 1440p, 144Hz, IPS panel, and 27 inches are kind of the sweet spot currently. The first and most obvious difference with this monitor is it's size, at 32". Making the decision to go up to 32" vs 27" is entirely personal, and this Dell model makes very good use of that extra real estate. The bigger size allows for more immersion when gaming, and this is something I really enjoy. When using my computer for other tasks, such as work, the extra size really helps out there as well.
Next, this monitor has a VA panel, which allows for a very good contrast ratio, but middle of the road colors and response times. This is also another personal decision a buyer must make - but for me I love the VA screen panel in this monitor because I use it in a dark room and I am able to fully appreciate the deeper blacks and better contrast. For a VA panel as well, this monitor does surprisingly well with it's response time when playing fast action FPS games. The delay on this VA panel compared to the Dell TN panel monitors is hardly noticeable in most circumstances. The only problem I have had with this monitor is that it has an issue where the screen will go completely blank for several seconds as a result of the monitor disconnecting in some way. This will happen WHILE IN THE MIDDLE OF PLAYING A COMPETITIVE VIDEO GAME, such as Battlefield V or Overwatch - often times leading to a death or a loss. This problem is related to a software flaw between the integration of this monitor's FreeSync 2 technology when trying to utilize adaptive refresh rate / G-Sync comparability. I found a way to fix this problem by tweaking the monitor with a special application, but just be warned that it's complicated to do this and if you experience this problem it is potentially a deal breaker and a very good reason to return this monitor and buy a different one. For me however, I have decided to stick with the Dell because I found a fix for the problem, and because I was able to pay $350 for it on sale which is pretty good (but not completely FREE REAL ESTATE).
DELL!!! YOU NEED TO FIX THIS ISSUE AND RELEASE NEW FIRMWARE DRIVERS FOR THIS MONITOR! I HAVE ASKED SUPPORT FOR HELP AND BEEN IGNORED ON THIS ISSUE! Because of this I am rating this product 1/5 in Ease of Use.

Simz,
Thanks for your review. We're glad that you've found a way to make your monitor perform better for you. We're sorry to hear about the issues that you did have with the screen going blank. If you want to check for software and driver updates for your monitor you can check our Product Support Page here: https://dell.to/34UC1bQ.
It's important to note that the S3220DGF is a FreeSync2 monitor and it is not G-Sync Compatible. If G-Sync is enabled on this monitor, issues such as flickering and blinking could occur. A list of Dell G-Sync Compatible monitors are listed here: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/products/g-sync-monitors/specs.

I wasn't sure how I would like the curved monitor, but I LOVE it! I purchased an open box Samsung 32" but returned it the poor gaming performance.
This Dell is an upgrade from a prior Dell, and I have no regrets. Refresh rate, performance, color are all fantastic. No issues at all.
I would definitely recommend this, especially at the sale price!!

I was actually going to buy a dell 27 inch ips gaming panel over this for an extra $499. I saw that this was in stock at my local Best Buy and decided to give it a try and probably just return it. Long story short it's not going to be returned. This monitor is amazing! Gaming is so immersive on this panel! I don't think I can go back to anything smaller than this for gaming and desktop media consumption.
Pros:
IMMERSIVE
Immersive!
-colors 3000:1 contrast is amazing
-165hz refresh is excellent for something like this
-movie and gaming on this monitor is beyond what I expected. -Moving watching isn't as good as an oled panel/tv , but VA panel is probably the closest thing you can get to it.
-G-sync works and it is smooth
-HDR in games is fantastic
-1440p
-Response time is good, but not as fast as my TN panel, but this panel runs smoother than my TN panel.
Cons
-not as sharp as a 27 inch panel, but 27 inch panel won't give you the same gaming experience imo
-might be too big for some, but perfect for me
-black smearing, but that is found on all VA panels. This one doesn't bother me, but it might bother you. I have the response time set to superfast and it looks good to me.
-will need a decent pc to get run this monitor to the max.

I was looking for good hdr at a price. With that said, let me start by saying it’s 400 HDR. That’s more towards the low end but not terrible HDR rating. 800-1000 is more polished and noticeably better but this monitor delivers. It’s 32” and wide, bright and hits it’s low brightness and darks without missing a beat. It’s backlighting hasn’t leaked out in dark scenes to throw me off and left me hating it, it’s been stunning me with visuals on bright/dark HDR games like Battlefield, Forza Horizons, Destiny 2 and Sea of Thieves. 165 hz, it’s jaw dropping. I use it for my PS4 Pro for HDR, my Xbox One X for HDR. Both consoles getting better FPS, looks so smooth. Heavy, quality base. Easy up down movements, tilting and swiveling. I just don’t like the buttons underneath for the UI. My other Samsung 144 hz monitor has the toggle button in back out of the way and so much better. This one, well, it’s Dell and they’ve never been that great at optimizing button placement. I find myself hitting the buttons as I adjust my Logitech speakers volume buttons. Overall, very very happy and pleased with this monitor and will add second soon. Next gen consoles are minding of breaking me lol. Definitely recommend.

Excellent choice to use with a new Mac Mini!

I bought this monitor to use for my new Mac Mini with the Apple Silicon M1 chip. It's an addition to an existing 23.5" LG, and it's definitely a game changer. I'm using a USB-C (with DisplayPort Alt) to DisplayPort 1.4 cable, and it's crisp and clear. I can drive the monitor at 165Hz, 2560x1440. It's very clear and the colors are vivid. One of the reasons I decided to upgrade is that I'm getting older and having a larger monitor makes it much easier to read text and distinguish fine details in games. The *only* complaint I have is that the included USB3 hub turns off when the monitor goes to sleep, which causes some issues with the Mac complaining that the hard drive plugged into one of the ports was removed without a graceful disconnection. I wish there was a way to allow that to keep working, but I can work around it by using an external powered hub for the hard drive(s).

I wanted an HDR monitor to replace my current 32” LG monitor. I’ve been following this one since it was announced and jumped on the deal once it went on sale at Dell and BB matched the price. Out of the box the tweaks I made were minor. Regarding performance the input lag on this monitor is amazing, even better than my LG ultragear. My only complaint is that I am not able to tweak the same preset with more than one port. If you are looking for a 32” monitor with focus on gaming this is one of the best options.
