IN MY OWN WORDS: If your a Halo and Borderlands fan then you will feel right at home playing Destiny. However there is also influence from another "D" game titled Defiance. You can play as a Titan, Warlock or Hunter each with their own unique skill set as well as subclasses. Plenty of looting and upgrading will keep you busy for hours. A seamless experience between Single Player and Multi Player keeps everything running smooth. Limited Time based quests will keep you locked in and coming back, as you franticly try to complete your goals. ABOUT MY RATING SYSTEM: My Rating System Is Based On A Scale Of ( 0 to 100 ) as explained below... The system is composed of ten separate categories that each can score zero to ten points. The total from these ten individual categories are then tallied up, providing the final score. "Zero being the absolute lowest possible score and one hundred being the ultimate highest score." I believe this system provides a truly fair and unbiased score by addressing all aspects of a game. I liked the Alpha, noticed improvement in the Beta. Final release barely lasted 2 weeks before it was very bland. SP only allows 3 man team that's fun but rather easy if all are upgrading evenly. MP became pretty dull with not really a lot of variation. Like all FPS, hop in and play around is fun but for me after 3 weeks I just clowned around. Good thing is easy to meet new people either at the main station or in events/missions. Hopeful that DLC makes it interesting again. on this version I experienced a number of drops before the patched it unlike the PS4.

Destiny is an MMO for the Xbox One and Playstation 4. I won't go into really great detail as there are a lot of reviews out there for you to read. Bottom line though, if you are a fan of shooters and MMO's, you should enjoy what Destiny has to offer. Beautiful graphics and multiple worlds to explore making use of those beautiful graphics. The controls and handling are top notch. Mechanically the game is very sound. It does have its issues, but there are of course a constant stream of patches coming in to rectify all of those issues. They have already added more content since the game released for players who spend a lot of time with the game and needed some more content to give people something to do after they get through the meat and potatoes of the game. The story fell pretty flat in this game - it is certainly not the greatest out there. There are a lot of generic sci-fi references throughout, and it doesn't feel as if this is a "real" universe that you can sink into with some of the silliness that the game hands you in the form of dialogue, the enemy names, and the names of the environments that you explore. All in all though, Destiny is a very solid and mechanically functional FPS/MMO. Again, if you are a big fan of Sci-Fi, MMO's, and FPS games - you should find a good bit of enjoyment out of this game.

a AAA production value game made by the developers who made Halo. Take out the storyline of Bungie's previous titles and you have yourself Destiny. The game does have gorgeous worlds to explore and fun multiplayer (if matched with fellow skilled players), but many can see aspects lacking that were expected, such as I mentioned before the storyline. If you can care less about story and don't mind a mmo style FPS with very repetitive grinding side missions to get you through the average story that is missing then you have yourself a solid control and multiplayer shooter.

Oh Destiny.... You are the best shooting game I have ever played (shooting mechanics, graphics, movement, action, etc...) but the worst story line, worst grind, and over promised underdelievered amazingness ever. This game is technically the best shooter I have ever played. Explosions, physics, accuracy of weapons, recoil, AI movement...etc... Its better than original halo. The story line is lame and progression is odd. You just go through the game getting thrown bits and pieces of why you are there, what happened, and killing enemies you have no idea of their backgrounds or why you are killing them. Sad because its a new IP story that was open and could have went anywhere. The end game is pretty bad as you just complete mission bounties where you go here collect X, or kill X number of X guys. Great for a bit, then its the same thing daily. The end game raids are pretty skill less as it revolves around having a certain rocket launcher or sniper rifle, or finding the cheese way of completing it (hiding to not get hit, moving XX way, etc..) and once you find the cheese its just rinse and repeat each week. Another issue I have is that there is no matchmaking. I have to go online to find people that will invite me to a group, have a certain overpowered weapon that randomly drops to qualify, then hope I get to them in time before thousands of others spam them for an invite as well. Is a frustrating way to group for a casually hard core player (pro gramer that used to play a lot, is good, but now works and has a family!) I guess I bought into the hype that Bungie put out pre release and expected always to be grouping up with others, massive area battles, mmo elements, etc... This is a solid game. I put in over 120 hours into it, and pick it up once in awhile. Solid buy, just know what it really is and keep expectations in check.

    Can't get enough Destiny

A little background on myself: I consider myself a very casual gamer since I've gotten older. I typically only like pick-me-up games that I can come and go on to match my busy schedule. I also normally don't buy games that will require a whole lot of time commitment in order to get full enjoyment out of them. Destiny fits that... Sort of. And buy that, I mean you CAN pick up and put down Destiny in short periods of time, and don't HAVE to commit a whole lot of time to enjoy the game... But you absolutely WILL. On to the game. I previously had tried Destiny out on the 360 when it first came out and thought it was decent. Gameplay was solid, but story was nonexistent, and it seemed like the game would get very repetitive quick. Fast forward to upgrading to Xbox one. I saw Destiny on sale for $20 and thought I couldn't go wrong there, even if I wound up giving it up after a short while. Even though the story is still nonexistent, the game is incredible and has yet to become stagnant for me. There is just so much to keep playing towards. I quickly followed up with buying the expansions, and now await the new Taken King expansion, but man.. I literally play this game every single day now.. Something that was completely unheard of for me before this game.. And something my wife isn't terribly fond of. But the game really keeps your attention with the various weekly activities and the difficult to gather gear that everyone works toward. If you have friends that play it, you won't find a better time. The pvp is great, the pve is great. The new expansion should make everything even better. Note: if you haven't bought the game yet, I recommend buying the new Taken King collection for $60. It has the original game, the first two DLC expansions, and the new Taken King expansion, all for $60. Simple math will tell you that is a very good buy as opposed to buying all separately.

Destiny is not as epic as I had hoped, but for some reason I can't stop playing this game. First person shooters have been my bread and butter every since the original Wolfenstein, so I've played more than a few. Destiny isn't necessarily anything new (it's probably most similar to Borderlands), but the game mechanics, sound, and graphics are definitely top notch - exactly what you'd expect from the studio that brought us Halo. Destiny offers players a couple options to enjoy the game: campaign missions (solo or co-op) or competitive multiplayer. While you can certainly play through the "campaign" yourself (I did on the Xbox 360), co-op is where it's at. Coordinating efforts to take on hordes of enemies is a frantic and rewarding experience. I won't get into all of the flaws that Destiny has (and there's a few, mostly minor ones), but my biggest complaint is that the game eventually becomes a grind to get random drops for the coolest gear and farm materials to upgrade those items. But that's also part of what I think keeps me coming back for more...I really want The Last Word... Oh, I also wish you could share items with other players. Who knows though: it sounds like Bungie is committed to expanding this game with new character classes, enemies, and weapon types, so there will probably be plenty to keep me eschewing the responsibilities of real life to farm some engrams...I personally predict sparrow races in a future update. =)

I am not a fan of multi player focused first person shooters. I always seem to be the only one running around with a low level character firing a pea shooter. However, the solo campaign of this game is solid and each chapter/. planet requires a multiplayer cooperative mission to advance. A really good way to force you into multi player without feeling like a goof - you have the same goal. Extra content seems to always be unlocking with new challenges on old missions. Good way to keep it fresh. The only downside is a user manual is missing. Explanations of things must be hunted online or through the Bungie website (free account needed). Online content for more story lines adds another $35 as of August 2015. And a big Expansion - The Taken King - is expected in September. If you like first person shooters and have reservations about this game for some reason (like my hesitation concerning the multiplayer) - give it a go. The base game seems to be $20 everywhere now - due to the expansion coming soon. Instead of $60 for everything I say try it out for $20 and wait for the expansions to go on sale.

I only started playing this game about a month ago. I heard so many different reviews of the game that I didn't know whether I should play it or not. People either loved it or hated it. But once it went on sale, I figured it would be worth trying. As so many people already said, there's not much to the story at all. So if that's what you're looking for, then this game isn't for you. However, despite not having much of a story, the game play itself is very good. It's runs very smoothly, and the game play feels very natural. I'm not a huge FPS player, and games like Call of Duty are sometimes rather overwhelming for me. This game, however, has just the right amount of action. It's not too easy, but it's not overwhelming or frustrating either.

I'm sure numerous reviews have described the lack of story in this game and how there should be more content. And I wouldn't disagree. But I would say that the game play and visuals of Destiny is outstanding. The loot system can be very frustrating, I will not deny that. However, if everyone was able to get every gun/armor/gear in the game easily, I think the game's longevity would suffer. That being said, I really do not like Bungie's effort to artificially extend the game in The Dark Below DLC, by putting in new currency in the game. I'm hopeful that the second DLC, House of Wolves coming out May 19th will alleviate some of those misteps. Overall, I feel like I've got my money's worth of entertainment, and in the end, that's very satisfying for me.

Let's get this out of the way now. This game is not the game that Bungie promised everyone across two E3 events and countless ViDocs and marketing. Not even close. It is, however, still a fun and different FPS that does little to move the genre forward, but gives people who love loot grinding a great way to get their fix with gorgeous visuals and solid, tight gunplay. If you just want a fun, mindless time with some friends with some pretty vistas to look at, this is your game. If you wanted the vast open universe and interesting story that was originally promised to you, look elsewhere, because you won't find it here.

    Lacking in Areas

Destiny is a great shooter as for an MMO or RPG it leaves alot to be desired. Lets talk about the positives first. The controls are fantastic and the look of the game is amazing. The game modes are fun in multiplayer and the strikes and raid are difficult to keep things interesting. With some new patches the loot system is much better than the opening week. Now the bad if they were going for an MMO feel they missed it almost entirely. The game is severely lacking the social aspect expected in an MMO considering that not a single player can hear you unless they are in your fireteam(squad), even in competitive multiplayer your own team cannot hear you speak unless you invite them to your squad which will remove them from the game just to join the squad. You had better hope you have friends who are playing the game, because there is no official matchmaking for the final raid which requires a group of six to complete. The other major problem is the amount of story on the game itself. If you come in to the game expecting a fully involved story like a Fallout or Elder Scrolls game you will be disappointed. I understand that they have a lot of DLC planned, but to ship the game lacking this much in story is disappointing to say the least. Even with the problems and the areas that it is lacking I am enjoying the game alot with my friends just not as much as a lone wolf.

Overall I have had en excellent experience playing Destiny. This game has a very Halo feeling to it, reminding me of the good old days with the original Xbox and LAN parties. At the same time, this game does an excellent job of incorporating a leveling and gearing element found in most Action RPG's. The storyline is very engaging, and the replayability is outstanding. The matchmaking through Xbox Live provides an easy venue to 3 man "dungeons" although the inability to matchmake for raids is a little disappointing. Overall though, I would highly recommend this game to fans of both shooter and Action RPG's.

I can best describe Destiny as a mix of Halo, Borderlands, Mass Effect, and Call of Duty. This combo makes for a great space shooter with one of the best shooting mechanics in any video games with a universe primed to be great. If you're looking for a compelling story, look elsewhere. But I will say that I am glad Bungie is trying so hard to fix the lack of a great story by making its DLC more story focused. The game is best played with friends, as raids and strikes with random people can be frustrating. Overall a great game if you decided to heavily invest in this franchise for the next 10 years.

I purchased this game for my kids, but I ended up playing it more than them. The graphics look great when played on a Xbox One teamed with a 1080p TV. The game has lots of things to do, either as team, or individually and I find it very entertaining, almost addictive. So much so, I haven't played any other Xbox game in over two weeks. If you are into the first person PvP or PvE type games, I don't think you would go wrong buying this game. Just be aware that you have to be connected to the Internet to play it. No Internet and the game will not play.
