Customers are saying

Customers highly value the exceptional video quality, ease of use, and compatibility of this 4K capture card, with many praising its simple setup and impressive frame rates. The HDMI 2.1 support and ability to record in stunning 4K resolution are frequently highlighted as key strengths. While some users noted minor lag in certain scenarios and expressed some concerns about the software, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive. The product's ability to work seamlessly with various consoles and PCs is also a major selling point.

    HDMI 2.1 Finally / No Surround-Sound Passthrough

Great new addition from Elgato. Same form factor as the HD60X, but with some much needed support for HDMI 2.1. The capture-card is still manageable through Elgato's 4K Capture utility and supports HDR to SDR to mapping on the device itself. So, it's great if you using OBS/SLOBS, as you don't have to worry about keeping 4K Capture open or setting up any additional filters when you add the 4KX as a source. Unfortunately, Elgato still does not support audio formats other than PCM 2ch for recording/passthrough. I would have really liked to see, at least, passthrough support for 5.1ch surround. I'm still very pleased overall, and would recommend this to anyone interested in a top-quality addition to Elgato's capture-card lineup.

Flawless 120Hz on PS5, no signal interruptions

Works perfectly for PS5>LG OLED C9>Laptop. Minor, easily correctible issues at startup, easily fixed, read at the bottom. I was using the LiveGamer 2.1 and it would work great, except when playing Destiny 2 on PS5. Whenever the game switched from 60hz to 120hz for PVP I would occasionally be stuck on a black/blank screen and had to recycle TV inputs or the power to the capture card to restore the image. This could happen multiple matches a day. There are no issues with my cables or setup, this is 100% a capture card issue. Bought the 4k X with the hopes it would fix my sole problem and I've gone a full day without issues. I can also tell this device takes full advantage of the 3.2 USB C port since it shows it operating as Superspeed rather than High Speed like the LiveGamer 2.1 did. There were two minor hiccups on startup with the PS5 (no signal + ps5 ALLM (low latency) wouldn't turn on) so I recommend updating the firmware first. To update firmware, hold CTRL while clicking the gear cog/settings icon. This unlocks a few options under device in the capture software. I updated firmware and checked use HDR tonemapping on device. -Make sure Input EDID is set to Display. You may need to adjust your PS5 video output settings all over again. Without Input EDID set to Display ALLM wouldn't turn on. Don't forget to Apply changes, then OK. Check these things below for PS5 users: -HDR - On When Supported -Adjust HDR - For LG OLED users I recommend 13 clicks up from the as far down as it goes for the first 2 settings, then set the 3rd and last screen to as black as possible. -Ensure your TV input is set to PC, make sure OLED Picture is showing as HDR/Game, ensure dynamic tone mapping is On (avoid HGIG as very few games take advantage of HGIG), white balance somewhere in the warm setting (your preference) -Back on PS5 make sure VRR is set to Auto and apply to unsupported games -Resolution is automatic then test 1440p output as this gets disabled any time the ps5 or tv detects a different signal like when going from ps5>tv to ps5>capture card>tv.

Worth Upgrading for the PS5 or Xbox series X

Worth the upgrade if you care about refresh rate and if you have a 1440p monitor. I upgraded from the Elgato HD60S+. In my case I upgraded to a 1440p 240hz monitor and the HD60S+ does not support 1440p and it only does 60hz which is a problem since the ps5 is able to do 120hz.

If you want to record up to 240 fps or just simply 120fps in 4K, then this is the graphics card for you. I really believe that this should have been the initial graphics card to come out with the current gen consoles. So far I’ve experienced no issues while using it in obs. I will say that it looks practically the same to the HD60 X so it’s easy to get them confused. However if you’re a specs person like myself then you should be able to tell them apart in that regard. Plus, it say 4K X on it.

I had to upgrade from my previous Elgato card from 2019 and this did the trick. There was minimal lag from my OBS when I was checking it so I highly recommend!
