    Great card just too expensive.

VERY expensive. However it does get the job done. Also note that HDR can only be passed thru using the 4K capture utility. There are less expensive options out there that do the same thing. I'd honestly say wait for a price drop or sale if you MUST have this card.

Backdated hardware costs more than the new model

When the Elgato 4K60 PRO PCI card came out, it was the only available source of pass-through 4K on PCI under $900, but was still already more expensive than it should have been, retailing at $400. Now, two years later, Elgato has released a MK.2 version of the card that can even fit into a low-rise PC case, with MORE features than this MK1. It can record in HDR, and be used by two separate output sources at the same time, for a full $150 retail less than this now outdated card. While this is still functional 4K60 recording, it's not HDR. Get the new card.
