Customers are saying

Customers enjoy the fast performance and ease of use of the ENVY Desktop, particularly praising its solid state drive and ample storage. Many appreciate the reasonable price and quiet operation, along with the sleek design. However, some customers noted the large size of the desktop and occasional issues with the power supply and lack of included speakers. The positive feedback on performance and storage significantly outweighs the negative comments regarding size and a few reported hardware problems.

After having an older computer for so long, it was easy to just get used to the sluggish way it was working. My son did this upgrade for me and I am shocked at how slow my old computer was... I love coming to work now and finish my work quickly and easily.

So far it seems like my HP Envy desktop is a decent product. I do have concerns about the knowledge base & service quality of Best Buy and Geek Squad management customer representatives. I was told the day I bought the desktop that it would be easy to add storage capacity. One salesperson even opened up the side of the display model to show me the slots and connections that could be easily used. After I set up the computer myself I received an email offering free geek squad services. Upon calling in to Geek Squad to set up an appointment to add storage space, I learned the service was limited to setup but that I could bring the new machine in for a $39 hard disk installation, not including the cost of a new, additional, hard drive. When I came in for my appointment I was told by Geek Squad that it would cost another $100-150 (maybe more, i forget), not including the cost of the hard drive, to install additional space. That did not sound right. After talking to management I was told again that the original estimate was correct. I was then told it would take an hour to install the drive. I went and had coffee at a local coffee shop. When I came back I learned that with all the confusion of other customers they had not set up a ticket for my installation. The Geek squad tech said he would take care of it. I waited another half hour or so and the tech came back and said they do not have the proper parts to do the install. The tech recommended a few ways I might find the parts myself. I then looked for the original manager to update him on my lack of progress after over two hours. I was not able to find the original manager but found the current one and he took my card and promised to follow up with me. He thought Best Buy should be able to find the parts and take care of my installation. It's been over a week and I have not hear from anyone. I experienced over the course of a few days a comedy of mis-information and errors. I believe all the people I dealt with had good intentions but in the end the system failed me miserably. Despite what seems like a fairly decent computer, after my experience, i would not recommend it to others.

Before purchasing a new desktop - I did a lot of reading of reviews on different sites as well as getting input from techie friends. I needed a system that could handle 50+ tabs opened at one time - all day, on two different browsers (Chrome and Firefox). Plus, word and a PDF program and at times imaging software are often needed. This unit fit the bill. I had my old hard drive (my other PC died) transferred to the larger hard drive on this unit. In doing so, I still have a TON of space left. I save very little to the 128 GB solid state drive in order to keep the speed of the machine upon booting up - fast. This has worked out very well. I wasn't sure I liked the color of the tower, but honestly, it's really not seen given where it's housed - so no biggie in the end. I thought I would detest where the SD card slots are - but I actually really like where it is. I don't find it hard to insert a card at all - it's actually easier than it was on my Gateway and those were located right in the front. The CD/DVD ROM drive is a bit on the flimsy side - it's located right on the front of the tower (one just opens the door you see on the very front to access it). That said, this is a computer not a toy so if you're careful - the quality shouldn't be a huge issue at all. The quality of the sound works well once you adjust the settings. I was worried I would have to buy a new monitor; however the BB associate who assisted me, hooked me up with a HDMI to VGA adapter and all is good. Windows 10 is taking me a bit to get used to - though, I am actually surprised that it's not as intimidating as I thought it would be. I was told to not use the Facebook App but rather go directly to the website via a browser as the app tends to slow things down....I can't be having that, so I took the techs advice. This comes with a wireless mouse and keyboard. I have shied away from wireless mice for the mere fact that I thought I would go through batteries like crazy where I'm on the computer SO much. Much to my surprise - I haven't had to replace batteries and I've now had the PC for over a month. The keyboard is on the smaller side and I'm not fond of it at all. I don't like where the zero is located or the directional arrows. The back space button is small - a real PITA where the keys don't register all that well when typing (see below). I've had no problem pairing devices to the Bluetooth...even through a wall 20ft away (not sure how much that matters - just thought I would put that out there). The big cons for me - not enough USB ports. I'm not a fan of the keyboard that comes with it - I have to use the back button way too much as the keys just don't register well when I press them. I will be getting a new keyboard sooner than later (I could use my old keyboard...but I've wanted new for a long time now). All in all - I'm super pleased with my new HP PC. I was so afraid that I wouldn't find one in my price range that could handle all that my 8yo Gateway handled...my fear were put to rest fast.

HP ENVY 750-414 Fantastic Desktop PC

I purchased this computer at my local Best Buy store after reading the online reviews and trying it out at the store.I must say that this is the fastest and quietest computer I have ever owned. The combination of the Intel I-5 and the SSD make all the difference in the world!Like most,I am not a huge fan of the vertically positioned DVD drive, but I don`t use that drive much anyway and most manufacturers have gone to the slim-tray vertically mounted optical drives on their desktops....this is no-deal breaker for me.I was already "used" to Windows 10(being a Windows Insider).so I have no complaints about the OS...as a matter of fact,I like Windows 10.The keyboard is a little smaller than usual, but I have gotten used to it now and I like the fact that both it and the mouse are wireless. If you are looking for a fast, quiet and stylish desktop, you cannot go wrong with this one..I HIGHLY recommend it!

I did a lot of homework before I bought this computer. I checked all the most common brands and some "not so common" ones. With the processor speed and installed memory, I was impressed. But..when you add in the solid-state 'C' drive and 1TB 'D' drive, too, it was a no-brainer. It boots up in a flash! I've found that Win10 is very similar to Win7, but with some added perks that I like very much. THIS is the one for anyone that prefers using a desktop over a laptop and doesn't do a lot of gaming.

The HP Envy 750-414 is fast, quiet and with the set up done by the Geek Squad, works fantastic. A lot of memory and so we won't have to worry about it slowing down anytime soon. Like the many USB ports available for peripherals. The sleek design looks great, too!

I usually build my own desktop computers but had to make an exception this time. My wife's machine died two days before Christmas and I had to get a replacement asap. She was spoiled having had a tower with an unlocked i5, ssd, and separate data drive. I spent a day researching the web and all other available options and fortunately fount this Gem. Lucy to find my local Best Buy had one available and I had her up and running in short order. Loaded a few programs, moved a few files, copied her data drive, and we were done. Runs cool and quiet. Very happy with this purchase.

I don't do nearly as much on a PC these days as I used to, so I was looking for something that had enough power to last me quite a few years, but not top of the line hardware (and price). I think this Envy fits perfectly. i5 processor with 12 GB RAM and an SSD C: drive will be fast and handle most programs you want to use for the next four+ years (I usually look to get 7+ years out of my computers), but the price is very reasonable. You get quite a bit for your money.

I bough this computer for my father who is a senior citizen. He wanted something faster than his silly AMD computer someone recommended. I picked this one because it was on sale and because it had the SSD Hard drive. The SSD hard drive means it will boot up fast so he can turn it off when he is not using it.

I work with many computers daily and knew I did not need an 'over the top' one but wanted one which could potentially go another 10 years like my last one (which was just moved to the 2nd computer position, not retired) before needing to be replaced. My wish list was made and this had the majority of it, the rest could be added. Most important was the RAM and having a solid state hard drive for the programs while my data sat on another internal drive. 500 gig was target but in this computer it came with 1TB. There are some settings (mostly power settings for when it would put what to sleep) which gave some issues but changed the 'sleep' settings to a bit longer and all was resolved. Mouse had been freezing, some responsiveness where indicators. Solid system components. Wish it had more USB ports but like I said, those can be added. This has all the 'bones' of a very good, solid 'middle of the road and then some' system.

Sounds like a car review, right? Well, you ask this baby to perform and it does. The SSD and the 12 gigs of Ram turbocharge all applications and make it a breeze to use this computer. the only reason I didn't give it a 5 is that that the only monitor output is HDMI.

I bought this machine as my last HP was dying and I had it for 5 years far beyond computer life. I have only had this machine a few days but so far so good. Actually, I am really happy with it. The machine boots quickly thanks to the solid state drive and the terabyte gives me plenty of storage. So I would recommend this machine great one for the price. The only con that I have is the keyboard and mouse that came with it are really bad. They were bad enough that I bought a new Logitech keyboard. The one that came with it was too small and the mouse was difficult to control. Additionally, batteries were dead in both mouse and keyboard. To me this was minor and I do not find it a big deal.
