This was the first time I purchased an all-in-one inkjet printer by Epson. To my surprise, it was smaller than those HP OfficeJet inkjet printers, yet it had quite a few bells & whistles. Installation was easy but took a long time to complete the initial setup. This inkjet printer is expensive, yet the text and graphic printouts are somewhat worse than those HP OfficeJet printouts. Unless you have 20/20 vision, a 2.4-inch color touchscreen is just too small to view the menu. And it is not sensitive to the touch of a finger, either. Made in the Philippines.

It prints beautifully when it's working correctly. It's fast and doesn't ever fail to wake up remotely even after I haven't used it in a month. My only problem though is a giant one.. It has paper jams all the time, probably every 6th or 7th time I use it. To make things worse, when you clear the paper jam it knocks the print head out of alignment and you spend the next 20 minutes recalibrating it. I use quality printer paper from staples and fan it before I put it on the tray. I've tried putting just a few sheets as well as filling it up. Nothing seems to matter, it just jams. If I had to do it over I would skip this printer.

This printer gets jammed a lot!! It will also freeze or not print some items that you send to it. I have issues with the adf scanning and printing, the papers will get stuck on page 1 and I will have to go one by one in the scanner instead.

Really not pleased with this unit. I loved the idea of these printers, but in practice I wouldn't recommend them. The printheads dryout all the time, especially if you don't regularly use them. We are constantly running the printhead clean mode. Our unit was initially replaced under warranty. The unit stopped feeding sheets for faxing. So, we bought another one. Well, within just a few months this unit is now not faxing. Epson is supposedly replacing the unit under warranty again. However, speaking to the customer service is an exercise in pain (none of them are paid to think....just go through their worthless testing algorithm....they seriously ask you if you have the unit plugged in). They said we would receive the replacement unit within 5-7 days. Well, 7 business days later and their incompetent team hadn't even sent the unit out. Please, save yourself the hassle and buy another printer...

I liked the idea of the bottle ink. However, I’ve had to put Epson Tech Support in my phone as a contact because it stops working every time they update the printer driver. They have no explanation for why this is. That’s been about 6 calls in two months.

The 4850 doesn't print as fast at the old Epson that I replaced it with. When there are graphics and text together, it slows to a crawl. I can not find anything on Epson's website that addresses this issue.

The printer worked ok - for about a year, then quit, exchanged it for a 2nd printer, that one "died" right out of the box. So took exchange credit against a different model printer. "Except" (without my permission or knowledge) Best Buy refunded the credit to an old expired gift card we no longer have access to (nor does the employer that awarded it to us). Best Buy says its "our fault" they sent our credit to an old gift card with $0 balance for over a year, claim they have no way to retrieve the $435. Guess we'll have to find out what the Colo. Attorney General thinks of this whole mess...

Better than other inkjets due to the ink cost. Still an inkjet which for some reason means it takes 3-5 business days to get ready to print and another 3-5 business days to actually print. It also randomly restarts for no reason

Way too much noise, very slow in printing and difficulties starting up after the computer goes down and then restarts.

Prints great from a phone. Hates my computer. Endlessly frustrating. When we thing it’s fixed, it comes up with another excuse of why it can’t print.

It was not easy to set even with the help of customer service. I was directed to download one app that did not work. The second customer service advised me to download a different app and this worked some of the time.

Bought it, took it home, returned it the next day. For a $400 (or $550) printer, the text and scan quality weren't acceptable for business printing. I adjusted the print settings to use Best quality and used Epson Bright White Pro Paper, and the text quality still was choppy and ragged at the edges compared to my 10 year old HP OfficeJet that I was looking to replace. I tried scanning at the highest res, and the scanned documents were also worse than the same documents I scanned a year ago with the OfficeJet. If you use this printer for school papers, etc, it should be fine. But if you are printing business proposals or the like, you will probably want them to look as professional as possible, and I wouldn't recommend this printer for those purposes.

I’m having all kinds of issues, was good at first, but after a year it has all kinds of issues…paper out message all the time when paper is not, across the board on all types of paper…as well as constantly jams…can’t double side print either, jams every time…

My biggest complaint is that this machine will not print on CARD STOCK. In my 50+ years of using Printers, never once have I had a printer that DID NOT print on CARD STOCK. I was told that to print on card stock, I have to invest in a commercial printer machine. Just another way to get more money out of the user.

Had it rightbat a year. Printed just fine. Kept up maintenence on it and then the drama started. It began to print like crap. Had to keep doing the nozzle head cleaning. Went a month without having to print, well shouldn't have done that it clogs. Will be taking this back, thank God for warranty. Also does not scan both sides. You have to flip it instead of machine doing it.

Unfortunately, this printer is malfunctioning after 2yrs and 4 months.

2nd printer/scanner I bought at Best Buy within the month, Would not communicate with my MAC/MONTEREY IO SYSTEM, Someone at BB said that Epson would connect on a one to one basis so left the 2nd Epson printer with the Geek Squad...they kept it for a couple of days and said it was ready to go...They "hardwired" (which was what I'd been told by BB. WHEN it arrived home, no special cable came with it. Will not connect to Epson. I now have to wait for in-HOME SERVICE TO COME OUT BY NEXT MONTH. THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING.

Paper jammed almost every time. Plus the blank paper did not set in the tray properly. Easy set up was only plus I would give this.

I purchased this to replace an Epson ET-3700 that is super slow to print and I needed a document feeder for scanning. Super disappointed in this. It takes forever to scan a page and the feeder jams non-stop. It took me an hour to scan a 20 page document. I love the eco tank but I'm done with Epson after 2 fails. Returning this to the store and looking for something else.
