I have only had my new dehumidifier for 8 hours. So far, I can say I am very happy with my purchase. If my opinion changes in the future, I will update my review. I live in a hot and humid area and it seems I am constantly battling humidity. This is my 3rd dehumidifier, all different brands. My experience is after this review. So, I picked it up from Best Buy and they loaded it into the back of my SUV. I guess to prevent it from tipping, they laid it on it's side. When I got home, the writing on the box states to not turn it on for a couple of hours if it was not upright. So, to play it safe, I unpacked it and let it sit upright for 3 hours. I knew I wanted to use the pump feature so I located the pump tubing in the bucket and proceeding to install it according to the manual. I really liked this installation. My old dehumidifier had a push to connect attachment. This one uses a hose barb that is in the center of the garden hose cover. So, right off the bat, that was the first difference I noticed. I read through the instructions to make sure I understood everything. They were not the best written, but not the worst either. I plugged it in and the display lit up to display the current humidity level. I also noticed that fan was set to high and it also indicated that pump is on. At one place in the manual, it suggests to run at 45-50% humidity for the first 24 hours. I set mine to 45%. My current humidity level at that moment was 47% and nothing was happening. I walked away and didn't worry about it. I figured it needed some time to acclimate. Later I thought I heard a quiet fan sound. I checked on it, nothing was happening and there was water in the pump hose. I was impressed. My last one was really noisy. Then I checked the bucket and the bucket was bone dry. This really made me happy. My last one had to fill the bucket before the pump would kick on. On the control panel, you depress the words, "Fan Speeds", "-", "+", "Timer" and "Filter Reset" to make adjustments. My last one had weird icons. So I appreciate the words that make sense. I don't have to pull out a manual to see what a symbol means. So, to sum it up, I am impressed on my first day using this dehumidifier. I did get the service plan through Best Buy for peace of mind after my experience with my first dehumidifier. I hope I do not need it. My experience with dehumidifiers is I bought a different brand dehumidifier last year and it failed in 6 months. The stats were similar to this dehumidifier. The manufacturer did nothing to honor the warranty. I also purchased a very pricey crawl space dehumidifier that has been working well.

Its been a month since i installed the dehumidifier, it did a great job so far. We had slight flooding in the basement and with this on it got dried of really fast. I’m not sure on the area its covering though. We have a 2000 sqft area in the basement and i doubt if its able to cover the entire area. Also, alerted to clean the filter twice but i couldnt find any debries or filter being not clean. But altogether i’m sarisfied with the product. It was easy to install & move around. Also i made a great choice by opting dehumidifier with pump or else we had to cleanup the water every now and then

This is my second GE dehumidifier, previous one lasted 3 years. This unit returned error code E6 after 6 months, basically only 2 months of operation. Seems pretty common. Here’s a summary of the wonderful GE warranty process: Call 4 different phone numbers They email you a support ticket Call 3 more phone numbers after you don’t receive the email Email back a few photos of the units serial number Wait 2 weeks for confirmation They then allow you to PURCHASE a new dehumidifier You submit a rebate for reimbursement Wait 6-8 weeks for your money back. $300 for 2 months of a working unit, then I need to buy a new one while they hold on to my money for months. I’m in the wrong business.

As I am the first to give my review on this new dehumidifier model, I want to tell you something. I had already had another dehumidifier of the same brand and it was noisier than this one and the drain pump was even louder and after a year it broke, luckily the two-year best buy warranty helped me. I had also had a Whirlpool and that filled the tank and the pump was removed when it was full. The downside is that the bucket catches mold and from time to time you have to take out the bucket and pour products to remove all that dirt that sticks to it. standing water for so long. Now I will talk if this model is quieter, the compressor and the pump are so quiet that you can feel the pressurized water coming out of the machine. Something I don't like about this model is that the (Nonstop) mode is not real, the compressor turns off more than 4 times a day, I have not only seen this in this model, since in the two previous dehumidifiers the compressor works continuously for 23 hours. a day and it will only turn off to rest for an hour that helps you get more moisture. This is my second unit of the same model, GE has a good design of its devices but they are no longer reliable like years ago and they are more likely to break after a year of being in operation. I recommend you pay extra for the Best Buy warranty for this type of unit. products trust me

Great dehumidifier but missing the filter

Great dehumidifier. It does the job well. It sucks the moisture out of the air in my basement. I love the auto shut off feature. Smart dry is my favorite part. But mines did not come with a filter and I didn’t realize it until weeks of usage and then having the change filter light come on. I asked Best Buy in-store representatives for a filter and they said they do not have it but told me to visit Home Depot. I went to Home Depot and the agent there said they do not sell GE filters for dehumidifiers.

Solid performance in dehumidifier class. Love the gray color, display on top is easy to understand and operate. Really like the built in pump, so far it is trouble free. Maintenance is normal, filter clean, water bucket clean and pump cleaning.

Lasted a little over a year and I got the Eb or E6 error that everyone has pictures of (I attached mine)… pretty disappointed I wasted money on this. I cleaned the filter every time the red light came on to change it and kept the unit in great condition. I would expect at least 5 years from a dehumidifier. I’m going to email GE to see if they will refund me given it failed a month outside of their 1 year warranty. The controls were easy to use and set. I’m only giving it 1 star because the error I’m now receiving… doesn’t qualify for ease of use in my opinion if I have to hard reset it every couple hours.

Have only had this dehumidifier since Aug, now it keeps getting E6 error every 4 or 5 days. I have to unplug wait and plug in again for it to work. I have a Keystone dehumidifier that I purchased from 2016 that is still running fine. From other reviews, it looks like this is a common issue with these units. I will look at warranty information for options.

Quiet and efficient but first one broke after 10 months. I will see with the 2 nd one if it lasts or this GE model is not durable. Built in pump work great and is convenient as it automatically drains and you do not have to empty the water.

Buy Geek Squad Warranty- Not reliable

So why 4 stars with no reliability because its better than all of the other brands i tried with pumps. This unit was a replacement to another pump brand that lasted 6 weeks, and a replacement to a non pump GE unit that lasted 18 months. So why still 4 stars, cause it works and you can tell it does. The unit has a clear tube and can see the water coming out. Also it does not fill a bucket and then pump, but pumps as it captures the water from the air. So why not 5 stars? It has limited options, high and low fan; no comfort mode, it is louder than other units and takes awhile to dehumidify the air. Overall happy, but with lack of GE reliability buy the extended warranty, you will be happier. Ps total reqards extended warranty will cost you $49 to replace, if you buy the geek squadr warranty it is less and has no fee for replacement. 2 replacements allowed per year when it fails you!

Very pleased with this humidifier, especially at the price I got it for. The pump makes my life 100x easier as it just pumps down my floor drain about 20 ft. away from where I put it. Does a good job keeping humidity down in my basement which is about 900 sq. ft. Doesn't run constantly like my last one.

Does exactly what it is supposed to do, easy to setup and use, and efficient with various settings. The pump is a HUGE plus, eliminating the need to check and empty the bucket. My only caveat is I hope it lasts longer than the previous one we purchased. The heat sensor failed, a repair required a complete disassembly, and a service call was almost as expensive as a new purchase. I guess four years is ok, but would have much preferred at least a five year longevity. It was in constant use in a basement, so….

It does a good job at removing humidity from the air. However, it is loud, generates a lot of heat, and despite being energy star certified, it uses a lot of electricity. I have seen my electric bill go up almost $200 using two of these on continuous operation. It otherwise does what it is advertised to do. The bin is easy to empty and clean when not connected via drain hose.

I have had this dehumidifier for right at 6 months and it has worked perfectly until last week. I noticed it wasn't running and the screen had e6 on it. That is an error code saying something isn't reading to the panel. Turn it off, unplug it and worked fine for about 30 min. then same code. After a few days of that the panel lights up but nothing happens. I got in touch with GE and they don't want it back so I have to find a place to dispose of it and they will reimburse me to get another one. I will probably get the same one because when it works it works well. Just don't expect them to last like most things. I also got the extended warranty from Best Buy on it so I need to see if I can get some or all of that back.

Amazing, bought this as a last ditch effort to rid our basement of the moisture that these spider crickets love because it was an infestation. When we put down sticky pads they would fill up in just a few hours and nothing worked to rid them, we didn't want to pay big bucks for an exterminator. Low and behold within 2 days the new sticky pads had nothing on them, the basement is dry and in the month or more that we've been using this we had maybe 3 or 4 spider crickets as opposed to filling 3 or 4 sticky pads within 12 hours. It's been running non stop and it's fed into the laundry drain. The internal pump works great and we never have to empty it ourselves and the dehumidifier just turns on when needed and turns off a our preset level. Excellent!
