    Purchased this microwave 2 years ago and the door will no longer open. In researching the problem, this appears to be a common issue with this make and model. For the price, I would have expected this unit to function longer than 2 years.

    Hard To Open

    The appliance was a perfect fit however the door is very difficult to open. You need to push hard on the release button, something several times. Had I known this I wouldn't have ordered this model. The feature are good.

    Bought this to replace a GE Profile microwave that we had installed when we built our house nearly 16 years ago. If there were another microwave that would fit in the opening, I would send this back and get it, but unfortunately, this was our only choice. Like others have mentioned, the push button to open is cheaply made. My 2003 model was much nicer. I also strongly dislike the dark grey interior. It's hard to see your food with the dim lightbulb included. It's quieter than our older unit, but that never bothered me. I hope that I will get used to it, but after 3 weeks, I still dislike this new model. Why can't they make appliances like they used to?

    It looks good installed. It is mostly plastic and feel cheap compared to 20 year old Sharp microwave. The door closes with a liud thunk! No matter how gently you try to close it. The keypad is not intuitive and one needs to constantly refer back to tge instruction nanual. Cooking seems to work fine. I would mot buy this product again

    GE is ridiculous for requiring a new frame costing $$$$$ to install this. It could easily have been designed to be compatible with the frame of the virtually identical GE microwave that it replaced. As many people have complained, the push button to open the door is very hard to operate which is probably why so many break. The function grid is nearly impossible to read since it has no lighting.

    We had to buy this microwave again after only 2 years ownership bc we didnt want to purchase another wall encasement. The button to open it is not engineer wisely and I know it will break again. Because there is no handle, you have hand a finger prints all over the glass door & microwave constantly. We had to buy the warranty too & hope to sell our home before it breaks again.

    Not the same as my prior GE Profile Microwave!

    Very disappointed with this GE Profile Microwave Oven. The interior is grey which makes the interior dark. The light within does not provide adequate light to overcome the dark interior. The electronic touch-pad controls do not display in low light as my former microwave oven did. The touch-pad control has a tab for Healthy Menu. What does this mean? Also the potato tab has ended in an err each time I used it.

We will share your feedback regarding the interior of the microwave with our engineering and design teams. The Healthy Menu feature is listed on page 16 in the manual. Simple place your food in the oven and press the Healthy Menu pad and enter the code and press the start pad. Note: If you open the door while the food code of Healthy Menu or Potato cycle is displayed, you will see the ERR code appear, and you'll want to cancel it to remove the error.     At the Mercy of GE Profile for Built in Microwave

    Brought the microwave home from Best Buy and opened the box to find that the glass front was shattered and there were other broken parts. No excuse for that in shipping. Had to return it and reorder a replacement. The second microwave was fine but requires a ridiculously expensive plastic front trim kit that is very hard to install because the measurements have to be precise for the screws to the 1/32 of an inch, and the screws are inserted blindly into slots. For those of us who had prior built in GE microwaves and are not ready to remodel an entire kitchen, we are at the mercy of the GE Profile for replacement if that is what we had before.

    Replacement of GE microwave

    This was a replacement for the one exactly like it that was bought 1 year prior. I had total care when I bought it. The one that was originally bought caught fire when I was melting 2 tbl of butter at 6 seconds.. very scary hope this doesn’t happen with this one

    Waited months on microwave, when it was finally delivered and installed half of the touch screen functions did not work. Why are these not checked aty the factory and prior to delivering to the customer?

    Good spacious microwave but broke right after 2 years with loud crackling noise. Was not used that much either. For the price should have lasted long. May need to buy it again due to the custom built nature of the cabinet.
