I bought the back plate to hid the space where the other had been panted around. It looks sheet and modern. It only lights up if your directly in front of it and I have it set on a schedule but can also manage from my mobile so I don’t often even to touch it. Additionally I get a yearly seasonal savings promotion through my energy company just for having it.
I would recommend this to a friendEasy to install, a little tfickier to operate.

Anybody can install this thermostat. I do find setting it and programming it to be a little frustrating. The menu is not so easy to get through.

There was a fairly large area behind the original thermostat that was damaged and needed to be refinished or covered before installing the Nest. The trim kit was an easy solution to cover the damaged area.

I was wrong. This item is an amazing add-on, specially when needed to cover the markings made by the previous controller.

Easy enough to install and definitely makes it look better than it would with the scuffed up and paintless wall behind it.

I had to take it back because the thermostat came with a backplate. Also, on each end it comes away from the wall. That didn't look very good. And yes I double checked we were putting it on correctly and we were.
