Great TV! Got this back in 2012 and it's still working perfectly with a really picture even though it's becoming outdated with all these 4K televisions becoming more popular.

Needed a decent quality bedroom tv & this one caught my attention for $329. With 2 hdmi connections, 1080p, & a 2yr warranty for this price, I thought it'd be worth a shot. Sound quality is better than some of these reviews state.Yes, it doesn't sound good out of the box, but with 20 seconds of tweaking the bass & treble up, it sounds just as good as any other tv speaker system. However, don't get this tv for the surround sound feature, cause that does sound pretty awful. It does sound surround, but does so with an empty tin can sound. Picture quality is so-so. For $329, it's more than decent, but you will not get close to the quality as a Samsung, LG, etc., but that would cost you $200 more. You will notice the slow 60Hz slow refresh rate if sitting within 5 feet. Colors are very red out of the box & will take quite a bit of tweaking before you'll get it where you want. Blacks are hideous compared to most models. The frame is glossy, which was bit of a surprise for this price & makes it look a bit like the spendier models. This tv does not swivel on the stand. The screen is mainly a matte finish, reducing light glare. Took only about 5 to 10 minutes to get the tv up & running which only involved attaching the stand with screws, & probably another 15 minutes of tweaking the features to get good sound & picture quality. Overall, I can't see this tv having the quality to be your main family room system, but for this price, I don't see it disappointing you in a different use.

Very light and easy to set up. Screen has a nice matte finish (like most LCD's) which minimizes glare. Manually adjust sound and picture quality and things will improve quite a bit. Canned settings are not very good. You don't get incredibly true black like you would from a $1k or more set, but Idoubt there are any better options out there for $349 with a 2 yr. warranty. Two remotes up!

I had a 6 year old Vizio 32" that was 720p and this new 39" is light years better. I got it for $349 online and it is a great bargain. Compared to my old Vizio, the picture is fantastic, sound is full and solid, and the overall feel is nice. The onscreen setup is easy and instinctive and has a lot of options. The two bad points for me are the REALLY cheap remote and the inputs located on the side (making it hard to wall mount - but not impossible). The set is very light in weight, the overall size of the set fit where my old 32" did, and since I have two toddlers, I could not be more thrilled for what I got at this price point. My daughter says Beauty and the Beast look real now!! You want the best picture in town with all the features, spend $1500 and get a top of the line model. You have cash restrictions and want a good/great value you can enjoy with the kids, here is your television!

I got this TV for my bedroom. I was comparing it to the 40" Dynex and ended up buying the 39" Insignia for $350. The Insignia has a 2 year warranty and is lighter and smaller. It is a perfect bedroom TV. There is only two HDMI and one composite/component input, so there are limited connection options.

I bought my Insignia 39" TV a couple of weeks ago, when the sound on my older-model RCA 27" TV in my living room. My built-in entertainment center had a limited amount of space for my television unit, so I was afraid I couldn't upgrade too much in size, but boy what a difference 11 inches makes! LOL! But on to the television review. Attaching the stand was pretty simple, and I couldn't be happier that it was light enough for me to maneuver into the entertainment center. But even more amazing, was that I could hook it up to my satellite and DVD/VCR units without the need for an electronic genius! I even got the HDMI cord hooked up - easy! And I've noticed watching at night has been a little easier on my eyes, since it doesn't create such a blinding light. I would definitely recommend this television to anyone who is a part-time television person. I'm a busy person and not home a lot, but when I am, I like to veg-out in front of the TV and watch my favorite shows. Thanks E-Jay (store rep) for recommending this television. :)

Normally, I wouldn't have even considered the INSIGNIA brand for purchase. I had a 32" Samsung LCD that I paid $1400 for 6 years ago died on me last month, and the repair guy wanted almost $300 to fix it. This set, brand new, was $350, and it's 7" bigger. Six years ago, the "border" that frames the viewing screen was thicker, and I couldn't find a 37" that would fit in the space of my wall unit. Luckily, that border is thinner now, so on today's models, I could even bump up to this 39", that just squeezes in perfectly -- just enough room so the control buttons on it's side aren't pressed by the edge of the case. Anyway, the picture is first rate -- on the HD channels from Uverse, the colors are vibrant and the blacks are very well defined. Like photographs. The NCAA basketball tournament is on right now as I'm writing this, and the lines on the court are perfect. Can see the players reflections in the hardwood. I'm not a video-gamer, so I can't tell you how it'd do in that regard. It is a little "screen-door"ish when you stand very close to the set, like you do when playing Nintendo Wii or any of those stand up games, but at 4 feet or more back, it's perfect. The sound was a little bit tinny at first, but after a few days of tweaking the settings, I found a level that worked well for us. Another big factor in the purchase was the 2 year warranty -- all of the other "name brands" for sale -- your Samsungs, LG's, Panasonics, and even the Westinghouse #?# only offered 1 year. Even if I only get the 2 years out of it, I can buy 4 of them for the price I spent on my original Samsung, and get 8 years #or more# out of them, assuming they keep making them.

I had to replace a 42" Sony that had broken. My brother bought a Dynex tv a while back and I was pleasantly surprised with the picture quality. When looking for a replacement tv, I saw this Insignia 39" for $350 and went to the store and bought one. Everything is awesome on it except for the lack of inputs. It has 2 HDMI inputs, a USB port, but no VGA input and only one component cable input. I have my Xbox360 and U-verse hooked up to it. If you need something to connect more things, this is not the tv for you. However, it is perfect for my setup in my room.

For a 300ish set, this is a great TV. I needed a TV for the guest bedroom. I was initially looking at 37" sets since 32" seems too small. I ran into this one, and based on the previous reviews I bought it to try out. The sound quality is much better than I expected. Once adjusted, the sound quality is near that of my 60" Sharp LCD in the living room. My 8 month old Panasonic plasma in my bedroom still has far superior sound quality compared to this, but it was significantly more expensive. This has a matte screen, not glossy. The bedroom I have it in has several large windows and it is not a problem watching this is a bright room. The only reflections are along the glossy bezel which is not too thick. Picture quality ok out of box, I had to tweak it considerably to get it near accurate. Not a lot of fine tuning, but with the provided adjustments, you can get a pretty good picture out of it. The back-light bleed is uniform, no flashlight effect on this one! Sound quality not very good at the 50treb/50bass setting. i run 40treb/80bass and it sounds decent. The remote is junk. It looks and feels like junk. The Samsung/Panasonic/LG/Sony remotes are far better. it has a very narrow-range sensor, meaning you need to point it right at the TV for it to work. Only 2 HDMI, but that is normal on these smaller budget TVs. 3 or 4 would be nice. This is an extremely light set, only 22.9lbs and 25lbs with the base. When you cant spend nearly twice as much on a comparable Samsung or Sony, this is a great value.

We've owned a couple of flat screens including one of the pricey name brands and now this 39" insignia. I believe the standard warranty here is about as good as it gets with the option of up to four years. It has a good picture, good sound, intuitive setup, lightweight and very easy to wall mount. Have it hooked up to a home theatre sound system but with or without, it delivers. For the price, a pretty good deal here.

This is a bedroom TV for my video-gamer son. As such, I am delighted with it. We have a big Sony downstairs, and I didn't expect the Insignia to match the Bravia's picture. You shouldn't either. It's a budget TV, but a very good performer for what it purports to be. It plays the games without lag, which is what we needed. Also no motion blur in sports. The sound is decent. Setting it up was incredibly easy; we had it running in about 15 minutes. The HDTV picture is nice and bright and detailed, a stark contrast to the huge old CRT we lugged out to make room for it. Maybe not the best picture, but certainly good. I think Insignia is an excellent "off" brand, perhaps the best. One thing I learned, and you should look out for. The newer models not only don't carry the two-year warranty any longer, but the Black Tie is more expensive for the newer ones. That's why we settled on this set instead of the newer 40-incher.

I was using my 22" monitor for both my Console and PC. After a while I felt that I should put my console in the living room as I would remove some unwanted clutter. I didn't have much money to spend in my budget. I have never owned an HDTV before and was a bit apprehensive to buy an unkown brand rather than a bigger and more well-known brand [Samsung, Panasonic and Sony] If you are new to HDTV's this 39" is actually pretty big, I was a bit surprised at the size of it. My parents have a 32" in their home and this was much more bigger than I expected. The screen quality is above-average for this brand of TV. The 60Hz refresh rate does hurt if you are used to 120Hz [my monitor is] but honestly, that's my own nit pick. For the Price I paid I am more than satisfied. I had $70 on a gift card so I saved a good amount on this TV and I am very happy. $399 is still a very good deal. Only having 2 HDMI ports is a bit disappointing, I like having my console, PC, and DVR connected seperately without removing a cable, but I can always buy a component cable for my DVR. The sound isn't great, but it isn't horrible either. If you get the settings to your optimum specifications then it will be enough. I would recommend a sound system eventually but you won't be too disappointed. This TV is priced very well and at a good deal. If you need some convinicng just remember you get a waranty with Insignia and that's a plus. Ports might be scarce and sound not amazing, but still solid for the price. while the screen quality is above-average for this type of TV. I am very happy with my purchase. Talk to your sales person, they were very helpful with me.

I've had this 39" Insignia lcd tv for a month now. So far so good! (except the tv's power shut off once by itself, but it hasn't happened again so I'm hoping it was just a power surge since I live in a house with old wiring). I had purchased a similarly sized LG tv prior to this, but ended up exchanging it for this Insignia and am glad I did. The price is better, and lucky for me so is the sound. The speakers across the bottom front sound way better than tvs with down-facing speakers. This seems a big plus, as I did not want to purchase a sound bar or surround sound system. Also, my personal preference was to tweak some of the color settings, tho it wasn't really necessary. Also, this Insignia tv has a programmable channel labels feature, so if you don't have a cable box with a channel menu feature, or without a tv guide, programming the labels manually is great to always know which channels/networks you're watching/flipping to. The only thing I wish was better is the response time when changing channels. Besides that, I have it hooked up to my Sony Bluray player, as well as my old VCR, and could not be happier with the picture and the tv in general. The 2 year warranty seems great to. (The LG i returned was only 1 yr.)

What a difference from using an old analog TV with a digital converter box that died (2nd one at that) and replacing it with this HDTV. Using for the most basic off-air digital signals. Wow! Can see the imperfections on the local news anchor's face. Gets most of the local channels off the air with a rooftop antenna. In the $300+ range, what a deal for the picture quality and 2-year warranty. Sound is sufficient even for hard-of-hearing elderly. Not using hook up to any other fancy hi def components, nor watching fast action or gaming, therefore response rate is not an issue. So far, so good with this unit - about 1.5 months. Can't complain. Just plain and simple, good value.

For the money paid, it is worth it. Had to play around with the settings a while to make it look nice, but that applies to every TV these days, so no big deal. Only problem was the remote. Even if fresh batteries put in, it didn't work well much of a distance away (5 feet or more), Could just be I got a bad one, the way manufacturing works these days. The TV itself though, worth the money.

We had a old 32" Proview LCD TV that just bit the dust and decided to look around for a replacement and happened upon this set at a really good price. I ordered it online for in-store pick up and unpacked it and mounted it on the wall and that was about it. The first thing that struck me was how light the set is. Without the stand, it's only about 22lbs! The 32" we just took down was about 40lbs. The picture is very nice, but the sound is lacking. It's just a TV for the bedroom, so it's not a big deal, but it's pretty weak sounding for the most part. That won't be an issue if you're using a sound system or something. There are plenty of standard connections to hook up a handful of devices as well. Overall I'm enjoying the TV very much!

I gave this 39" Insignia 4 stars because its just ok. Its a bedroom tv so we dont need anything spectacular but a little nicer pic and sound quality would have been nice. However, when you consider I purchased this for under $400 and it comes with a 2 yr warranty its not too bad. Honestly I like the picture quality and sound better on my 40" Dynex but after getting 2 that needed to be returned because the sound kept going out, I opted for another brand. With a couple tweaks to the picture settings it improves the quality significantly. It only has 2 hdmi ports, so if you need more this is not the tv for you. Its perfect for a bedroom but for a living/family room you might find you need more ports for your set top boxes, blu ray player, gaming devices, streaming boxes, etc. The non HD stations look great considering they are not high def. I have noticed that there seems to be more glare on the screen from windows than on my vizio lcd. It seems to be somewhere in the middle of the glare you expect from a plasma vs an lcd. Ultimately you wont be disappointed with this purchase if you can pick it up for under $400.

This is my first HDTV, and we use it as our primary TV. It has great picture, great price, and decent sound (not great, but do any of them?).. The 2 shortcomings are sound quality and fairly sparse inputs (2 HDMI and 1 component). I fixed both these issues by buying an A/V receiver -- so save your money on the TV and add an A/V receiver for lots of inputs and great quality sound from your TV. Oh yeah, and think about a Logitech universal remote (When you buy an HDTV it seems that it starts a chain reaction)
