Did what it's supposed to do, I had no problems with it. Pleased with the product and especially at the price it is, you can't beat that. I'm sure there are bigger better things out there. For me as amateur videographer, this was a very helpful and useful tool. Two thumbs up.

The unit provides reasonable equivalent sound levels to the camera's internal mic. Avoids some of the camera generated focusing noise, and wind noises. Fits the mount, and the shock supports seem to do their job. Have not determined battery life... but with internal battery and low draw on the electronics... one should get well beyond a 2 hour video shooting window. Without special test gear, can't confirm what the pickup pattern is, but seems ok for an inexpensive device.

Insignia On-Camera Shotgun Video Microphone (Black) is a very inexpensive option when compared to Rode Video Mic Pro. On the plus side, it is an inexpensive product and the high-pass filter helps with background noise On the negative side, it has limited effective range. Furthermore, the quality didn't seem any different than the onboard microphone. Lastly, it feels cheap and flimsy.

I was looking for a microphone to attach to my note 5 as I use that to make my youtube videos. This mic connects via the 3.5 audio port and when in video or recording mode, picks up all the sound beautifully. Its clear, crisp, and no choppiness.

Purchased this to boost the sound for video taping a school play. Worked well and noise level seemed pretty low. Plus was that I found it in store at a very reasonable price. Needs a 9 volt battery - can not use the camera power which is fine as I would rather ensure longer battery life by not sharing. Ran it about 4 hours on one battery with no sign of the 9 volt going dead.

Without spending too much money getting a road Mike, this would be your next best microphone to buy. This for microphone gives you awesome quality without breaking the bank and is definitely a great starting off point for videography!

As expected this microphone is a much improved addition over any cameras built in mic but it does have it's flaws. The construction feels cheap and flimsy. The audio quality is good but only as good as you would expect for the price. Overall i feel that it fulfills my need for an upgraded mic but i would advise anyone to consider another entry level mic.

This microphone is really good for the cost. The only draw back is that if you’re using a Canon DSLR you’re going to need an adaptor to plug it into your camera. Other than that I highly recommend it.

If you have a Sony, you have to get a Sony mic. This one will not work with it. I didn't have a chance to evaluate it because it wasn't compatible with my camcorder. That's the only reason I wouldn't recommend it.

This unit provides decent isolation from camera related noise such as operating the camera. You will need a flash mount to connect the microphone to the camera. I have used a camera brace The sound focus is on the wider end of shotgun pattern so it will not provide great isolation at distance. For more typical camera to subject distances, the focus is solid.
