Customers are saying

Customers express satisfaction with the Roomba s9+’s cleaning performance, mapping features, suction power, ease of use, self-emptying capabilities, and pet hair removal. However, some users note that the robot can be noisy and that its navigation system and battery life could be improved. Concerns were also raised regarding the robot's reliability and the relatively high price point. Overall, the positive feedback on cleaning and convenience is prominent, but potential buyers should consider the reported drawbacks.

I first have to say that I did purchase but returned about a week later. I must say it did a great job actually vacuuming but it took 7 hours to get my 1800 sq ft downstairs of my house complete. Had to go back and recharge at least twice every time and got caught up on things. The mapping is much better than the other robot vacuum we had. But for the price I would not recommend this vacuum.

This is the top of the line robot that IRobot sells. I have replaced it three times under the Geek Squad Protection Plan. I am now expected to replace it a 4th time because it simply will not leave the docking station or clean when I remove it from the dock and press the clean button. iRobot support says it’s a sensor problem and the my offers me $100 “voucher” to get a new robot. So I’ll be out of pocke 800$ for a new robot. DONT BUY THIS MODEL. I have the next model down and have had it for about 4 years and it still cleans great.

Buyer Beware - Bin Sensor Issue VERY Disruptive

I have own couple of iRobots (i7+ and i3+) for the levels of my home that have luxury vinyl. Because I love them so much, I figurged I would spluge on this S9+ since it marketed better suction than the i series, I have pets and I wanted to use it on a floor that was heavily carpeted. On (3) separate attempts this model performed horribly. Constant bin sensor errors that persisted despite emptying the bin manually and using air to clean the bin out. It kept returning to bin to charge. Each attempt resulted in a 6+ hour vacuum for about 700 square feet and multiple disruptions that required my help to resolve. In reading the reviews the bin sensor issue is VERY well documented as a significant disruptor. I will also say that the top location of bin had latches that I felt were poorer quality and I fear that they could easily break. I am grateful for Best Buy's return policy. For the price, I just didn't feel this product was anywhere close to fulfilling my expectations. I have since purchased an i8+ for $599 ($200 less than I paid for the S9+). It finished job in 80 mins with no charges and no disruptions. I am very pleased with the i8+ clean.

    Minimalist Living - Perfect

Has its drawbacks, does not like rugs and if they are fine it scrunches them up and gets stuck. If they are too thick it can't get on them. I find that I spend half the time supervising it which defeats the object. I think it is great if you live on one level with no rugs and hardly any furniture. Mine struggles with corners and I have had to assist it numerous times when it gets stuck. My house is old with staircases and nooks and crannies so maybe not the best scenario. Has to return to the base to empty the bin frequently. Also, note it does not get everywhere like behind furniture. The bags are expensive.

Cleans great and reliable. Always buy Roomba replacement parts. Have tried many cheaper version and the edge sweeping brushes fall apart. You will not be disappointed.

Read multiple reviews, viewed multiple YouTube videos on reviews. Decided to make the purchase even though the price is ridiculous. Planned to return it unless it really did everything it said it would do, and unless it cleaned my floor to my standards. After using once, I was impressed. A couple more days of use with continued satisfaction, and I decided to keep it for sure. Buy lots of bags and filters. They use up rather quickly. I also recommend watching the roomba do its thing the first several jobs. It takes a while to really get your floor mapped.

This new IRobot is serious. It easily vacuumed up dog hair through the house, on tile and carpet, It definitely does way better on tile compared to previous models. Low profile carpet is easily tackled as well. I noticed that for high profile carpets, the outer spinning brush has a hard time trying to spin as it the brushes collapse from the high profile carpet. Otherwise, highly recommended for pet hair. The automatic self emptying feature is awesome. Saves time.

This was my second Roomba, I had the 980 before this. I had quite a bit of trouble with mapping in the beginning. I ran it many times. However, it turns out the beta feature I had activated was causing a lot of the problem. I deactivated and then it worked. Now I have all the rooms in my house mapped. It's pretty cool being able to send it to a specific room. The clean base is AWESOME. No more emptying that bin. It's pretty much the reason I bought it over any other. I also picked it for it's very strong suction, the highest in the Roomba line right now. I thought the D-shape would be a weakness but watching it work, it's able to get up right against walls. I think that makes for a better clean.

I wouldn't suggest buying this for the price you pay. I have had nothing but trouble. I have had to not work/die 2 times in not even a year. Very disappointing. When it did work, it did do a decent job. That is why it gets two stars. Customer service for IRobot isn't great. It takes days to hear from them. They also say they will do things that they won't do.

    Glitches and Quirks

The good: the unit does a pretty good job of picking up dirt, dust, and pet hair. It also seems to find a way to have good coverage on the floor. The bad: I tried to get this thing to map my house and just couldn't. I don't know if it was a glitch or it's just REALLY bad at mapping. It ran through 3 separate mapping runs that took sometimes over FOUR HOURS each. Plus it went on 3 more full cleaning cycles. At the end of all that, it still hadn't mapped out the house, and I don't live in a mansion so I don't know what more to do. The battery would run down multiple times during a cycle... even a mapping run where it wasn't cleaning / running the brushes. Also, it would stop a number of times for seemingly no reason. It also asked me to empty the bin even after it was completely emptied. I had to run canned air through the innards based on info I found online, and that fixed that particular error. Plus hair would get wrapped around the brushes so I found myself taking it apart and cleaning it frequently. Additionally, it ran pretty slowly over carpet -- like it was having trouble with the pile. It knocked over stuff, it got stuck in tight spaces, it scrapped paint off some of my baseboards, and it pushed around small pieces of furniture on hardwood flooring. At the end of the day, I just couldn't stomach the cost of this item compared to its price so I gave up on it. The one thing I can say for sure is that at least it isn't as terrible as the Braava Jet mop... which was even worse.

The Roomba works great once it maps out everything. The best feature is being able to select only certain areas, ie a bathroom, to vacuum instead of everything.

I have a split-level home, so the first unit I purchased from Best Buy required me to physically move the unit from one floor to another. That worked, but Roomba 1 of course couldn't get back to the disposal unit to empty itself. Running it back and forth got really old, so I decided to pick up another one. Its the second best purchase of my life! These units work fantastic, and its so simple to use. I can come home, and both floors have been totally cleaned while I'm away at work. A must buy for anyone busy with work and life!

This device causes more work than just vacuuming the room manually. It’s for occasional use only, particularly when you’re not home. It’s way to loud for far to long. Also, you must ensure nothing is on the floor that could get sucked up and break the machine.

The first model I received suffered from the "close the lid" error mentioned in other reviews. I suffered through the troubleshooting steps for a few days (including calls to iRobot customer support) before eventually returning it to Best Buy. I gave it a second chance and asked for a replacement. And I'm really glad I did, my second unit has been flawless. It cleans well, has no trouble on my medium thickness carpets and rolls right over transitions and thresholds. I'd say this is a solid addition to any smart home and it's absolutely great to come home from work to a freshly vaccuumed home (without having to do it myself)!

Used it for about 3 weeks. Previously had an i3 version that I returned after 1 month. Upgraded to this one with high hopes. So far, I love it. Easy to program. Vacuum learns and gets faster with each clean. I have two large dogs (Rottweiler and Lab). It keeps the dog hair cleaned up! I schedule it to clean half the house one day and the other half the next. So far, I've been very happy with it.
