Mapping was much more difficult than expected. I took two full house mapping runs (about 5 hours each run) and roomba kept getting stuck under furniture and on thick rugs, messing up the accuracy of the map. It works fine on the carpet and tile. After 2nd full run, when I tried to save the map, it disappeared. I watched videos and checked FAQ's but nothing addressed the disappearing map issue. I contacted customer service twice but got no response for 4 weeks, so could not use it. I finally had to start over with new mapping runs and this time I had to follow it around and block it from the trouble areas so it would not map those areas (it took all day). Once the new runs were done, I saved the map. This time the app saved it. I then was able to customize the map and add no vacuum zones to the trouble areas. It now works as expected. It seems to clean ok but too soon to give a complete cleaning analysis. It does return to home base as expected and empty bag. The side brush is already worn down after 1 week of mapping and vacuuming. Not sure how quick bag and brushes will last so replacing parts could get expensive. Hopefully, the cleaning will work well now that the map is set.

I’m truly amazed by this vacuum. I was hesitant to spend as much as this cost, but 3 days in and so far I’d say it’s worth every penny and then some. We have 2 large dogs and a cat, so in addition to normal dirt and debris that collect in a house, we also have to deal with a TON of pet hair. Over the past 2 years, we purchased 3 Shark robot vacuums, one for each floor of the house. While we always had some issues with the sharks getting stuck under furniture, lately it’s been much worse. Sometimes the vacuum just stops in the middle of a cleaning pass for no apparent reason. I replaced the worst performing Shark we had with this new Roomba- and wow, what a HUGE upgrade. While our Sharks seemed to have a completely random cleaning pattern, often leaving spots of carpet completely untouched, the Roomba is a thousand times smarter, right out of the box. I did not do the mapping process, but during its first run through the main level of the house, it mapped our floor plan with mind boggling accuracy. Additionally, the cleaning pattern not only makes sense (as compared to the random path the Sharks took), it remembers exactly where it left off and if it needs to go back to the dock to empty, it returns to the same spot it left to resume cleaning. The self emptying bin is a massive benefit as well. I’m really and truly happy with this purchase, even at the very high price point.

Exceeded my expectations. It mapped the floor areas perfectly and improves its knowledge with each cycle. Breaking the floor plan into distinct areas using the App is simple. The unit struggles with throw rugs and floor outlets...the former I simply pick up before a cycle. The auto dirt disposal is fantastic. Highly recommend this product!!

Absolutely love this new vac and it does everything it says it would. I am really enjoying not only that it cleans, but it knows if battery is low or dust compartment is full and will return to base and do whichever it needs and then return to cleaning at location it left off. I will admit I was hesitant to spend the money it cost but I must say its worth every penny!!

The best robot vacuum all around. I have given up on Neato and after returning 5 Samsung I’d the latest model have given up Aslan. This is by far the best robot vacuum ever. Save your time and money, I know is expensive but well worth it. It may seem less sturdy that the competition but don’t be fooled by the appearance, this guy map, clean and all performance exceeds all other robot vacuums

I did A LOT of research before spending so much money on this iRobot. I've owned it about a month now and my review today is different than it would have been on the first week. One of the rollers recently split in two and the suction is not able to keep up with the amount of dog hair we have. It gets stuck and I have to manually clear the bin. We've also found that it sporadically gets stuck on a tile/wood transition in our house. it doesn't always get lodged but about 50% of the time it does. The transition is very gradual and our old model iRobot has never struggled. So those are my complaints. The good is that it really does a fantastic job getting to edges, cleaning and vacuuming (instead of spreading) hair and debris. I like the smart features and I like the suction when it works. I don't think it is worth $1000. It would need to be perfect to spend that money. But if you have the money and are okay with close to perfect, I would recommend this model. Right now there are no better alternatives and this is a good vacuum. We have enjoyed it. But you have to purchase it knowing that there MIGHT be some imperfections. I would buy it again based on the benefits we get from it. But I do wish iRobot had more behind the promise and the price. It is far overpriced but, as mentioned, there is no better alternative.

We got this Roomba to clear our downstairs hardwood floors. It gets caught on dog toys frequently, but that's on us not remembering to pick up the floors before we leave. Having a dog that sheds a lot, we have to remember to clear the bin from time to time. The cleanout port gets clogged frequently, which is a bit of a pain. Overall, this Roomba does a great job keeping the dog hair at bay.

I'm a gadget hound, so it's not surprising I love to watch her (named it Rosie) go around the house. Not having to empty the bin for another a month at a time feels a whole level higher than any other robot vacuum. I've owned the 780, 960, and now this one. The price makes it an extreme luxury item, but if it's within your budget I would recommend this one over the other models by far.

I am disappointed I waited this long to buy the Roomba. It is an indulgence that is life-changing! Roomba does occasionally get confused and stuck, but its mapping ability is incredible. I like that it can get under beds easily too. I usually set it to run when I plan to be out. It is a little too loud while watching TV or speaking on the phone.

This is my first floor cleaning robot and overall I am very satisfied. It is able to pickup dirt in corners and tight spots and keeps floors clean. Occasionally it gets stuck but it notifies you by phone to come ‘help’. Scheduling and auto empty makes it totally hands free though you do have to clean off occasionally to clear dust and debris from inside and sensors. While noise can be an issue during quiet time that’s easily resolve by scheduling.

Do not recommend. We have s small dog that made a mess. Rumba picked it up and sweated all over the rug right before the party. Camera failed of identifying different dog poops as the claim that robot can do.

Loved the idea of this irobots ability of cleaning multiple surfaces and the self emptying cannister. It gets stuck on my area rugs and after 8 months, it broke down. The company replaced it, but the replacement has no warranty.

The s9+ is the third or fourth iRobot vacuum cleaner that I have owned. The s9 has a lot of improvements over the series 980 it replaces; better cleaning pattern, more through, more intelligent and like my 2 1/2 year old grandson, gets himself into more tight spaces. One of the major improvements with the s9 is the addition of the Smart Maps and this is also where most of the issues arise. The s9 uses it's experience to develop a map of my house over several cleaning sessions. But that map has errors in it, probably caused by the s9 getting into a bind when it does things it should not do, such as trying to eat my shoe strings or a wash cloth that missed the clothes hamper. The developer, iRobot, has some very good features in the Smart Map but it also need to provide me a method for compensating for mapping errors. I have been able to label the different rooms in my house on the map and then specify which rooms I want cleaned. This worked fine. Another feature, I haven't used yet, is that I can designate on the Smart Map, areas that the s9 should keep out of. This includes the dog's water bowl and the area under my bed (my s9 like to hide under the bed). The Automatic Dirt Disposal with the charging base works well, just a bit noisy though. Another indicator of iRobot providing useful features is the dirt bag in the base unit. The dirt bag has a built in shutter that closes up the entry so that no dirt can escape when removing it for disposal. I view this as a great product that is in the early stages of deployment and just like some our other great improvements to our homes it has a few rough edges that iRobot needs to fix.

Delivery went smooth and to my surprise the Roomba had some charge to it already. Easy to set up and started vacuuming 15 minutes later. Like you vacuumed yourself except better. Picks up everything and fits into spaces , under beds and couches that I did not think it would do. Phenomenal product and I have 2 dogs who shed a lot. A must have.

This is my upgrade to the i7 and my 3rd roomba, honestly the best one for heavier shaggish carpet. Does an outstanding job mapping your floors and when finished it looks as if the carpet was professionally cleaned with the carpet lines.

Started with the 900 series and then to this unit. Very satisfied with performance. I have a pet indoors that sheds pounds a day but with this series IRobot, you can’t tell anymore. I have some carpet, throw rugs and wood floor and tile and it works well on all floors. Highly recommend it to my friends.
