Customers are saying

Customers commend the IdeaPad 130 for its budget-friendly price, with many stating it's worth the cost. The 15.6-inch screen size is also well-received, as are the inclusion of a DVD drive and solid-state storage. However, the laptop is criticized for its slow performance, short battery life, and limited RAM.

Being a college student, I needed a laptop for MS Word, research, studying, homework, watching videos, etc. This laptop does those tasks just fine. It can multitask with a few applications running at once, but don't expect "fast and snappy" processing. Battery life is terrible (3-4hrs). Since it's strictly used at home, it's not a big deal for me. Videos and screen quality look just ok. It comes in Windows 10 S Mode (google that). I switched it to regular Windows 10, which can be done with just a few mouse clicks. There isn't a setting for inverting the touchpad scrolling. Overall, an OK laptop for web browsing, watching videos, Microsoft Office. I can't justify spending $800 just to do basic college tasks (got it on sale for $219). If you need a home budget laptop with a 15 inch screen to do basic tasks, take a look at this one. If you need to take it with you some where, make sure you have a power outlet nearby because the battery life is very short.

    Bangin' Deal

I basically grabbed this laptop because it was $219 with the Black Friday sale. Bangin' deal, couldn't pass it up. I bought this for my Dad. He barely uses computers, but when he does it's just basic stuff like email, web browsing, social media, etc. I installed Pop_OS! (Linux distro based on Ubuntu) and this laptop runs the OS nicely. If you get this laptop I'd recommend putting a Linux distro on here and wiping Widows off completely. It runs much more efficiently. It only has 1 DIMM slot, though. So you'll have to get a single 8GB 16GB or 32GB RAM module if you want to upgrade it. 4GB is decent, especially on Linux, but 8GB would be more comfortable, but for $200 I can't complain.

Great computer, works fast and setup was quick and fast. Comes in S mode, but it doesn’t say it. S mode can be taken off. The battery life is not as great as it said. I don’t think it’ll last 4 hours and uncharges quickly. Overall it’s a fast and beautiful computer. The layout is nice and it’s speakers are loud.

Model number 81H5002FUS does not ship with Windows 10s. The operating system is Windows 10 Home 64-bit version. This model ships with a 2CELL 30WH, Lithium Polymer battery, with a battery life of up to 4 hours, depending on the work that the device is performing. To maximize battery life, first adjust your battery saver settings. Here is a link to instruction for doing this in Windows 10:  https://www.digitalcitizen.life/how-use-configure-battery-saver-windows-10. Next, to maximize battery life, be sure there are no unwanted programs running in the background, draining the battery. Here is a link to some tips for finding out what is draining your battery:
https://www.laptopmag.com/articles/battery-saver-windows-10. Also, to maximize battery life, try changing your power management setting to a more conservative one. You can do this in the control panel, in the power management category on your system. Select a more conservative power management setting to extend battery life. Finally, if the battery life does not improve, a battery reset may help. Here is a link to instructions for reconditioning a non-removable battery, using the Battery Management Software installed on the computer. I bought this because my old computer died and I needed something inexpensive but works well. This computer is great it runs fast. It doesn't have a ton of internal memory but it has a decent size processor. And it comes with a Dvd drive. It is great for school or people who don't store alot on their computer or use their computer a lot. So far I like a lot. One of the only things I don't like is there where a lot of preinstalled games and stuff that I would never use taking up memory that you have to delete.

Bought it for someone who needed a basic computer, at a good price. The 4 GB of RAM really isn't enough these days, if you want to multi-task at all. Slows everything down, even with the SSD drive, but for the price, it gets the job done. If you need a laptop for E-mail, and light multitasking, it works ok, just a little slow.

The computer works for everything I need. In the current situation it has been repurposed as a school laptop for my child, and it serves her very well. Able to use several apps or processes at once, and images on the screen are good for school work or causal video watching. Pros: easy to set up and use. Camera and microphone function well, although the camera is not top-of-the-line. Cons: the ports and headphone jacks are mostly on the left whereas the right side would be better for facilitating ease of use. This is a bit annoying. Its also does not have the fastest processing speed, ie its a little slow. Recommendations: I definitely recommend adding more memory. Also get an external mouse. As long as you are looking for a basic laptop then this is fairly priced and works well. I am happy with my purchase.

These days it’s hard to find a laptop that still offers a mechanical hard drive and there is a reason for that. Solid-state storage such as the kind used in this laptop makes for a much more enjoyable user experience. If you can live with 128 GB of storage - which may not be enough for those that like to store a lot of photos and video, this laptop is a decent choice. Nothing particularly stands out about it in an excellent or horrid way. For the right price it’s well worth consideration as a budget workhorse.

This laptop is a general purpose use item that is quite capable of web surfing, email, streaming you tube, skyping, shopping, banking and more. I have not had any problems with this machine. A bonus to me is the DVD drive, large screen, thinness, light weight and it was on sale. I like the Windows S safe feature but it easily changed to regular Windows 10.

For the money, you cannot beat this Lenovo laptop. But unless you are a teacher or student Windows S leaves questions. After a very short time, I converted to Windows 10. But be reminded once you switch you can't change back. As I said for the money it is good, a little slow but good. It could use more ram and the processor is adequate. the addition of an optical drive was great. It is a really OK laptop.

I bought it to keep entertained at work since I work overnights and it's pretty dead most of the time. It has a DVD RW so I can play my own movies if I want, or I can watch on Netflix or Amazon prime. I took it out of S Mode and I do my budgeting on it in Libre Office. I play WoW on 3 (recommended) on the graphics settings. I downloaded the AMD Radeon Settings app and adjusted the screen colors through that and I have better color quality. I'm probably going to add to the storage with a 256gb flash drive because the ssd is decent it just isn't big enough. And the memory can hold up to 8gb I believe so I'll probably replace that as well. I mean it has an R5 compared to my desktop which has 2 R9's crossfired together, can't expect a whole lot, but it's a decent little laptop for the price. I'm happy with it for now.

My husband and I purchased this laptop solely for the purpose of school work as the iPad just wasn't cutting it for assignments and studying. We weren't looking to spend a whole lot of money on one either. This came up in our search, and trust me we SEARCHED, and after consulting a friend who is very tech savvy we purchased this one. If you're going back to school, or need something for everyday basic use and don't want to spend an arm and a leg and still get something decent, this is your laptop!! Highly recommend!

I'm sure this would not be first choice for those with high demand needs in a laptop. But for me it does great. I had been looking for an affordable laptop to replace my old one. This was an easy set up - easy to transfer everything from my old computer to this one. If you mainly check email, watch you tube, use it for general web browsing this is a great little piece. Very happy with this purchase.

I needed a simple cpu for my email and to keep up with some work. I can't get over how fast this is, for the price. This unit has a solid state hard drive. and a 3,1 processor speed.. That is incredible for the money. And it is a 15" screen, not a tiny 11". I must admit, i am able to stream my baseball games, and a few other things. But i must say, after having this for a couple of months, i can find no fault at all.

The battery life is brief and the body is hefty, but Lenovo's 130 delivers fine value among big, high-powered gaming laptops, with speed and features that rival more expensive machines.

I would recommend this to a friend
