So I was debating between updating my mac book air to the new pro with touch bar, but also looking at getting surface book from my surface pro 3. After much deliberation and weighing factors my choice was clear it had to be Microsoft and I'm very happy with my purchase. Here is the reason why pro's and cons if you will. Pros - Keyboard (its amazing I'm not a mac or windows fan I like them both but I do like this keyboard over my air) - Screen ( just beautiful pixel perfection and full touch screen) - battery life ( with the i7 processor and dedicated GPU this computer is power house and gets great battery life I can easily get 10 hours or more) - Pen and detachable screen Con's - windows hello ( works well sometimes but its hit or miss with Infrared cam - Price point ( very expensive but so are macs ) All in all windows 10 paired with surface book makes for a very pleasing experience granted no computer is perfect and computing preferences will make most decisions for you, but in my opinion this computer delivers, works well and has premium feel and look.

Let me start by comparing I have MacBook air 2013, version surface pro 3, and now surface book. Out of all of those laptops I've really come to enjoy the surface book, . First the build quality is great keyboard feels good to use travel is great .the track pad feels odd but that's minor for me .screen is beyond good my surface pro is good this far surpasses that .windows hello Iris scan is spot on works in light or dark (Overall this has been a pleasure to use if you can get past the cost it's one of the best laptops around)

    Worst Product I've Ever Owned

I have posted longer reviews elsewhere, going into more detail, but I'll save you. After encountering numerous issues that either completely ruined my productivity for the day, weekend, or week, or at the best slowed me down, I got a replacement. It was marginally better, but still no cigar. Now, 2 years or so later, I have a device whose battery(ies) have swollen so severely that the clipboard portion is like a pillow and cannot close flat, and after an hour or so of running, shows "burn-like" marks on the LCD. And the light bleed is TERRIBLE. The software and the hardware have had so many issues, and customer support has been so atrocious, that I actively let people know not to buy it. I'm glad some have taken my advice. I hope you do too.

I chased all over town to get one and when I got it home the screen was bad. So I took it back the next day, and guess what? None in a 200 mile radius and none available online –so I did not buy. A month later the 500 GB SSD went on sale so I went to check that out, guess what? None available within 200 miles or online. Maybe, BBuy and Microsoft, might think that drives up demand. I ended up getting a Lenovo from another store as well as the Pro. I will keep both, but no doubt I will definitely have a good idea of what I will buy next and where. As for the Pro itself –absolutely awesome.

I struggled spending this kind of cash for a laptop. I was looking for a desktop replacement that could handle basic stuff, but also handle photo editing and 4K video editing. So far, I am not disappointed. The overall build quality is terrific. Everything is super solid. The mechanical latching system for the screen/tablet is flawless. With the discreet GPU in the power base, I was able to stream HD video on Big10 network while simultaneously editing 1080P video and uploading to YouTube without the laptop blinking. It was no big deal. I am very happy with this machine.

My thought with technology is to get the newest, latest, and greatest. If it's expensive, it'll be worth it. I purchased the laptop using my best buy credit card and the 18 month financing. It makes the expensive unit an easier pill to swallow. So far, I am loving this laptop, it is able to play high end games and the battery life is incredible. Love the ability to detach the screen and the surface pen is nice as it magnetizes to the side of the screen. In my first day of having the laptop I have received multiple complements. Love my Surface book with performance base!

My first Surface Book did not even turn on. This made me extremely nervous about the product. But Best Buy honored the ordering of a new product and I have not had any trouble with the second Surface Book. I have fallen in love with the pen and enjoy its various settings for sketching. I have also found that the program begins to "read" your handwriting! I needed the quick processor for images and art programs. I do not use this laptop on online work in most cases, yet it seems extremely fast when I do interact online.

I purchased the Surface Book with performance base with 512GB and 16gb memory. This computer is great for ripping large images for my print shop as well as the design software (both memory hogs). The pen works great and allows me to edit all my photoshop images with ease. The only thing I would add to the wish list is a larger hard drive and the latest version of the i7 processor. Not sure why MS used an older processor when the latest version was released way before the performance base machine was.

I have to say I was so excited when I purchased the surface. I was expecting to get all the benefits of a tablet with the power of a laptop! The product is great except for the WIFI! The WIFI performance is absolutely terrible! When I traveled the WIFI on the Surface was so poor I had to use my cell phone to get stuff done! Before you purchase do a google search on this and see for yourself. I returned the product at Best Buy and they were great about it

I am so glad we bought the Surface Book rather than the Surface Pro because the Book is more functional. Although it cost more, the capabilities mean it'll provide years of service before becoming obsolete. I'm really impressed by its speed as it seems to boot up almost as fast as my iPad and can be used as a tablet or laptop. I highly recommend that if you're considering a tablet like the Surface Pro or an iPad, you take a look at the MS Surface Book!

I purchased for school and light gaming. I may never use all of the RAM but I took the plunge on the I7 with performance base anyway. Hopefully I will not need to purchase anither computer for awhile. It has not disappointed me yet. I love the 2 in 1 features especially the use of the tablet however I have not used it enough to run the battery down. I am still in the infancy stage as far as using all of the features but so far I love the surface book.

The product worked fine and a very cool concept from Microsoft. I could definitely see this product overtaking the PC laptop market. However, Microsoft needs to fix two things: software/hardware should have little to no bugs. I often encountered sometimes the base not detaching or lag in performance. This should not happen on a $2500+ priced laptop. Also, no quad core processor? For paying this much money, I definitely expect better specs.

I bought the product for drawing and it is great There is a learning curve, moving between tablet and pc modes. Once you get past that the product has so many options and apps to use. Never thought how nice it would be to have a touch screen. It is great to just expand the screen with your fingers. Instead of having to get a mouse your can also scroll and select using your finger or the pen.

So far I love this laptop. It is very cool the way it can recognize my face when signing on. I do wish there was an instruction book included. It is however very expensive so one must know what your needs are to buy this computer. Work , personal use or both. So far I love how fast it is. The tablet part is easy to take off and reinsert. Easy to use.

I've had the computer for about 3 months now and not had any issues. The screen resolution is great, the tablet functionality is excellent and I generally could only be more pleased if the computer was cheaper. It's also surprisingly sturdy... I caught my 35LB 2 year old jumping on it, and thought it would be broken, but its still like new.

I do mostly digital art work and Adobe PS activities so this was an ideal pick as the display is 10 point sensitive and is capable of detaching from the dock to make a high performing tablet. I'm used to Mac so the change was a bit dramatic but after a day i was comfortable and up and running. Definitely a buy!

Purchased this laptop for college and have not been let down. Love the fact you can turn the laptop into a tablet when on the go and the options for inking have been handy while doing homework. There’s two batteries giving a longer life and the quality of the built in camera is excellent.

Under what circumstance is this machine price worth $2,400 + support and not a MAX of 1,400? The machine was slow in running internet applications (for example "scratch" from MIT) Just ask yourself the same question regarding price prior to purchasing.

Great computer, fast everywhere, fast on, fast off, runs pro tools 12 just fine. But the performance base can also run GTA 5 with really decent settings! Forza and gears 4 look great and run decent as well. 60 fps at 1080p. What more do you need from a non gaming computer?
