Customers regard the PRO Z690-A WIFI DDR4 motherboard favorably due to its fast WiFi 6E capabilities, ample M.2 slots for expansion, and user-friendly design. Positive feedback also highlights its overclocking support and strong performance with both 12th and 13th generation Intel processors. The competitive price point is also frequently praised. However, some users experienced issues with the I/O shield not being pre-installed.

Works just like I needed it to. So many ports and m.2 slots, it’s amazing. Bios update for next gen chip was a little confusing, but other than that it works amazing.

Bought this November 2021. This review is for the MSI Review Rebate Program. (Which I didn't know about until after I bought it.) It's my first motherboard. Encountered a problem which I'll describe at the bottom. Pros: - Has a good amount of ports - Has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth built in - Has a good amount of slots for memory and M2, great for potential expansion - Online manual clearly shows what pins do what Cons/confusing: - The online manual is necessary to understand the board layout but isn't included with the product itself. - In addition to the standard male & female screws to hold a M2 device in, there's a different kind of male screw included with a plastic tab attached. The plastic tab holds the M2 device down (instead of how the male screw head typically does that) and can be rotated to allow easy removal/replacement of the device. Almost threw the plastic away before I read the manual. The problem I encountered: Build a PC with all new parts and Win 10. Motherboard comes with BIOS version 7D25v10. When I put my computer to sleep the computer would not display when woken up and the motherboard CPU light would turn on, indicating a CPU failure. I updated the motherboard to the beta version 7D25v15 and the PC works now, although the light still turns on (and stays on). Worryingly it looks like 7D25v15 has been removed from MSI's website, so don't know what's up with that. But as long as the motherboard lasts I'm happy with it. If MSI reaches out to me I'm happy to help in diagnosing the issue.

The MSI Pro Z690A has all the basic features you will need. Supports both 12th and 13th gen processors plus overclocking. Wifi 6E is super fast you can fully utilize a gigabit internet connection without needing ethernet cables. This motherboard also supports 4 nvme m.2 drives meaning you can add more drives when you need more storage, making it even more future proof. I coupled mine with an i7 12700KF and 32 gigs of Samsung B die memory, it runs super smooth and there is a lot of room to upgrade in the future.

This board is quite solid. I have had no issues as of yet and the bios is very easy for beginners and has advanced user capabilities for those more experienced with oc'ing. I liked it so much, I recommended it for others who have also said they now enjoy it. It isn't overly expensive like many wifi-onboard mobos tend to be. like the peotective features. This board is still very relevant too and I wont need na upgrade any time soon.

This board has a lot of features at a good price. It does look a little on the cheaper side and the antenna included feel cheap. Also being that the back plate is not integrated there is more movement on the antenna holder than I would like. My advise would be to attach them at the very last to avoid any issues.

Easy to set up. Works as expected. XMP worked well with ram at 3600Mhz c14. Has a pcie 5 slot and 4 m.2 slots. Pleasantly surprised it came with wifi 6e instead of just wifi 6 as listed on MSI's website. This review is for the MSI Review Rebate Program.

This would have been 5 stars if it weren't for the price. Even though the components are quite good, this is a bare bones board. 1 super basic nvme cooler, non-integrated IO panel, no RGB lighting (on the board, it has the ports to control RGB/ARGB). This appeals to me as I love the best thing I can get with no extra frills, but the price should match. This should have been ~$199-209 launch MSRP, and the entry level MAG level boards (ie: Gaming Edge Wifi) should have been ~$249-259 or so. Hardware unboxed threw a 12900k at this board and it took it with tons of thermal headroom to spare. VRM's are more than up to the task, it has all the onboard connections and ports you need for any build. Like, who even needs 4 NVME slots? Well if you do, it has them. Super easy to overclock in the bios, I'm running a 12600k and all I did was bump the all core up from 4.5 to 4.7 which gave me a notable bump in multi threaded performance, with voltage handled automatically (temps rose by about 6-8c using a U12A cooler).

The motherboard was built for the new 12th generation Alderlake chipsets and I decided to hop on the bandwagon. The great thing about this motherboard is that it still takes DDR4 RAM, good luck trying to find DDR5. DDR4 is still pretty fast and way more affordable so honestly its probably a safer bet to stick with this motherboard than the other ones that only take DDR5 otherwise you'll be spending way more than you bargained for. The Wifi is a nice touch, if you choose to move your computer a lot and hardwire ethernet is not available then this is a good alternative. Just don't expect to have stellar connectivity.

Not the best feature packed board in the same price range but a solid board that work out of box. Pro: - Solid build with decent VRM - XMP works out of the box - Wifi 6E support (was only expecting Wifi 6) - USB-C front header - 4 NVME slots Con: - No integrated I/O shield - One of the NVME is Gen 3 - Weak audio codec There are boards in the same price range with a better feature set. However, MSI get the combability right out of the box without the need to upgrade the bios. This board just works. Based on that, this is highly recommended especially for early adopters. Seems to be a great motherboard with a couple issues. This board has been pretty solid so far. Does what it's supposed to and I love the built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. So a couple things you need to know when buying this board. 1.) It's not LGA 1700 ready. You have to update the bios which honestly was very simple. You basically run power to the board with the USB/bios plugged in and push the needed button to install the new bios. Very easy...youtube it. 2) Not Wi-Fi ready so if you're installing Windows 11 and you get to the spot where you HAVE to have internet you have to have a way to hardwire it. For me this was extremely annoying as I had to find my old internet powerline adapter.

Purchased for a 12th gen intel build. First build I've done. Would recommend this board for first time builders. Manual on the MSI website was very helpful in sorting out cable and component installs. PCIe Gen 4.0 M.2 slots are a huge plus. Included Wifi6 compatibility is blazing fast. The only issue I have had so far is regarding the bios version that comes installed and windows resuming from sleep. If XMP is enabled the board hard crashes. This issue is fixed by a bios update, thankfully. After that I have had no issues.

The wifi is a plus and the motherboard has compatibility for the new intel cpus, which is definitely the main selling point since I wanted to upgrade my cpu to 12th gen. But the installation instructions are generalized and do not specify anything about the motherboard's pins. Apparently there is an online manual, which I wish I knew about beforehand. Also the backplate is not lit up.
