Awesome for people with unconventional situations! I have a sun room where we keep a portable AC unit. We plan on upgrading to a mini split one day. That sun room no longer needs a physical remote as this replaces it. We have it integrated with HomeKit and seems to work well. Our biggest complaints are related to the lack of function from HomeKit and not of the unit itself. HomeKit at this stage doesn't recognize it as a thermostat in our app, instead it recognizes it as a generic accessory and because of that doesn't have full functionality. I reached out to Apple and the support has been great, they believe the issue is Apple's HomeKit and have since created a ticket to look at what can be done. Understand that this plugs into your standard outlet in your home and doesn't wire into an existing thermostat (doesn't control that way).
Pros:
-easy to use interface
-good looking
-fun to setup
Cons:
-HomeKit integration is a miss at this time (could change with time)
-requires an electrical outlet to be pretty close to the device and limits placement

Got this for my Mitsubishi mini split. The installation was a bit tricky, I tried several times to connect Mitsubishi Electric since that is what is on my ac and it kept crashing the app. I finally tried just Mitsubishi and it went perfectly. On setup you need to connect to your wifi, but it won't automatically search for available networks, you need to manually type it in which is a pain. Other then these issues installation went smooth. The provided USB power cord was a bit short at around 6' so I had to purchase a longer one.
This remote adds a HUGE feature that was missing, the ability to schedule the ac like a regular thermostat. This is a feature I always wanted. I don't know if there is a limit to how many but I have several for each day and its working great. Each day of the week is individually programable. I have it set to turn off at night, on in the morning and have different temperatures depending on the time. Its been working well so far. You can manually overide from the control panel until your next setpoint then it will resume your programing. Its cool that you can look on your smart phone to see what the temperature and humidity is while you're away and can turn it on to get ready for your arrival at home. The major features of control are there: on/off, temperature, fan speed.
It is recommended that you only use this and put away the original remote since it may get out of sync but this does create some issues as some features are missing. You can't control the horizontal sweeping oscillation, the vertical has only two positions and no sweep. There is no turbo mode to quickly cool down. overall a pretty good thermostat I hope they can update some features

First, I could not update the unit. It kept erroring out. After many tries, I contacted Support. You know how when you log in to your internet if you enter the wrong password, you get an error. This does not do that. It just continues as if you are online. After fixing that and installing my air conditioner, it kept erroring out. More emails to Support. After taking pictures of the remote and the ID panel on the AC, I was informed that while my AC appears to meet the minimum requirements it does not. This is when for the first time I am told that the AC must have an infra-red remote and mine did not. I took the unit to a friend’s house and tested it on his AC. While we finally got it to work the process was cumbersome. It took many hours of trial and error.
When we did get the Mysa to function properly it do what was advertised. We were able to change temperature and fan setting via the app. Although I selected Fahrenheit at set up, the unit would only display Celsius. I would not recommend this product to family and friends.

Sleek thermostat

Initial set up of the Mysa thermostat in terms of removing my old thermostat and replacing with this one was pretty straightforward. However, although the Mysa is supposed to be compatible with many different setups, I did have some initial connection issues. It was fairly simple to overcome these issues though (just took some trial and error with the connection codes you may need to enter), and once connected I haven’t experienced any other issues.
I’m using the Mysa as straight thermostat. It is aesthetically appealing with a very minimalist and sleek design. It blends in, which I like since my thermostat is located in a well traveled area of the home. One thing that had taken a little getting used to in comparison to my previous thermostats is you have to operate mainly from the app versus having all of the controls on the thermostat itself. This isn’t a big issue, just something to get used to. The app itself is simple to use and programming it for schedules has been very smooth. For a standard thermostat, I found this to be a good option.

Now Smart Portable AC Chilled The Setup Woes

I recently had to purchase a newer portable AC Unit as our HVAC was out. This was to supplement a portable AC unit that we already had in our home which was one I have had for a few years but was before the big push to getting everything in our homes automated or at least connecting to the internet as IoT devices.
Having the newer unit I loved that I was able to control everything from my phone as was my significant other. I wondered how I would get this same functionality from our older unit because I love being a polar bear and keeping it in the low 60s in our home and so I planned to keep the portable units going even after our HVAC was fixed. Thankfully the Mysa Smart Thermostat is a thing because I love that I was able to find this!
I did have to order a replacement remote because my son lost the one that came with this portable ac unit but once I got it and went to setting up the Mysa I was pretty happy with the whole process. Why pretty happy? Well, set up took a little bit. There were a few hiccups with getting the app and the Mysa to sync up because for some reason it kept failing to allow me to set up the device even though they were connected and it should be working fine. I tried it for a little bit, gave up and then came back to it a few hours later to find that once I tried it again and again and again it worked. Now, this very well could have been my phone, or my wireless network, or my ISP, or a problem with the Mysa site/backend for setting up the devices...unfortunately I do not know for sure but it was sure frustrating as all get out.
However, once it was set up I was able to get what I wanted which was the remote control of the
portable AC that is about 10 years old now from anywhere inside and outside of the home! Talk about awesome! So while newer units allow this out of the box, there are still some who have these older units that are working like champs and do not want to replace them. And from one of those owners to the company behind this glorious device I say thank you. Even with the setup hiccups I'm a huge fan.

Frustrating & Disappointing

I was really excited about trying the Mysa Smart Thermostat for air conditioners and mini splits. I love the advantages of owning mini split units but I don’t like that they are only operated by a remote and there are no advanced thermostat controls and the benefits they provide. I have many smart home devices so adding one to control my units sounded fantastic. The product looks great and comes with the power adapter, stand, manual, and command strips for wall mounting. The box instructs you to download the Mysa app to setup the unit. Here you are required to register with Mysa and then you can begin the step by step process of connecting Mysa to the internet and then pairing it with you AC. You have two options here. You can use the Mysa app or you can select Apple HomeKit. You are prompted to point your AC remote at the Mysa and press the power button. Mysa then detects your remote and guides you through changing a few different AC settings within the Mysa app to see if they correctly control your unit. After doing this test successfully the Mysa app then attempts to download all the corresponding commands to your Mysa unit. This process failed repeatedly. I must have tried 30 times. At times it seemed to finalize and then I discovered that the app would not actually control my AC at all. At this point I reached out to Mysa support. They asked me to provide the model number of my AC remote. They then asked me to try entering 3 possible codes into the Mysa app. This struck me as odd. So I provide my remote control number and the correct code is maybe one of 3 options but Mysa doesn’t know which one? Huh? Shouldn’t there be one answer for one remote? I then tried all 3. The last one finally worked after many frustrating hours of messing with this setup process. That’s a problem. This should not be so complicated. I felt a brief sense of relief but then discovered constant app issues. While using the app the control of my AC is sometimes registered immediately. Sometimes it responds after a substantial delay lasting minutes. But most times it doesn’t respond at all. I had the same issues using the controls on the Mysa unit itself. I emailed Mysa support twice more for additional guidance. My initial emails were answered promptly but the latest were answered by the sound of crickets. I must say I was totally prepared to love this product but that did not happen.

Hello there, We are sorry to hear that you were disappointed by the current smart options and the pairing process. The team is working to bring more innovative options to Mysa for AC - and is committed to constantly improving upon what features may exist on just the remote.
Additionally, as there are a large number of different models multiple codes may be supplied for the best experience. This list is being narrowed down, as we learn from all the models and their supplied modes and controls.
We will continue to work to improve all aspects for the Mysa for AC - including our response, featured modes, and communication!

I really do like this thermostat. It solves one of the most annoying problems about having a remote controlled AC unit, losing/not being able to reach the remote. We have it linked to our ductless mini split and it has worked well! After removing it from the box I followed the directions for pairing it to my mini split. It took a few tries to succeed on pairing it because the unit didn't want to connect to my wifi at first. Using the instructions on the phone app I downloaded I was able to finally get it up and running. I like how I am essentially able to use all of the features my mini split offers. I can do any temperature setting as well as "dry" and any other special setting. The display on the thermostat is easy to see and works well. I like how I can adjust the brightness of the display. The phone app is a breeze to use. It allows you to not only control your mini split, but also see the usage history. You can know what the ambient temp, humidity, and set point was for any given day. All in all, this is a very convenient product to have!
