Customers are satisfied with the Botvac D4's cleaning performance, mapping functionality, and quiet operation. Many appreciate its ease of use and the helpful "no-go lines" feature for restricting cleaning areas. However, some users experienced issues with battery life, navigation inconsistencies, and app connectivity. The lack of a side brush was also noted by some customers.

Why didn't I get this sooner!? That's what I ask myself every time it's done cleaning. This thing is awesome and does it's job very well. Maps out the house perfectly with the plus of not needing cameras like other robots cause it being connected to WiFi who knows what they're recording and sending. Initial setup was a bit of a pain but once it's connected you just open the app and send it on its way. There is still a little prep work that needs to be done like picking up bigger pieces of garbage or moving chairs around so it can get around but it's literally 5 minutes of that for me. Once it's done it sends a notification to your phone along with a map of what it cleaned. Unfortunately this model doesn't do multiple floor mapping so if you have a second floor you'll need to get one that is able to do that but other than that I highly recommend this robot vacuum.

I purposely bought this so I can see the vacuum lines in the carpet. I have it set on a schedule to run every morning at 7 am. If it can’t cover your entire floor in one charge, it will remember where it stopped and go back to finish the job once it has charged around 80-85%.
I purchased the iRobot version (one of the cheapest ones) and it was very sporadic and random with its “cleaning” kind kicked things around sometimes and really wanted to see that my carpet was clean, rather than assuming it covered my entire floor. I happily returned this product in exchange for this one and pretty satisfied.
Cons:
Can get stuck on the weirdest things. It likes to bump into things and back out. It’s the backing out that gets it stuck in places or at least very confused. This doesn’t happen much and it’s a trade off, but still worth having this little robot vacuum.

Good robot vacuum. Does a good job cleaning tiled floors and low profile carpet. Smartphone interface works well, and can be controlled with Amazon Echo or Google mini. Sometimes gets stuck between legs of tables and chairs.

It does a good job when it goes. When it cleans it moves the charging base, so the next time you try to start it it says there is no matching floor plan and it just shuts down. It's ridiculous for the price. I'd return it but I'm pretty sure it's too late. I got specifically for the no go lines feature. But I rarely get to use that function because it cant remember the floor plan after the name moves 2 inches.

We're very disappointed to hear of the difficulty you've encountered with your D4 matching the floor plan. This is certainly not the behavior we expect from our robots and we would greatly appreciate the opportunity to help you get these issue resolved. If you are in the house when this or any other robot vacuum is running, its annoying, but like all of the rest of them, this gets the job done. Honestly I had to fight with it to get it setup on my Wifi, but once I did, she runs like a champ!! Also, you have to be sure that you empty the trash bin and clean the filter before each use. At least once every 2 to 3 weeks, take the roller out and clean it with the tool that comes with it, especially if you have it cleaning carpets. Bottom line, keep the maintenance up on it for a great cleaning.

We have a 1785 sqft home. Total area that our robo vac, that we named Benny, cleans is around 1250 sqft by the time you take out furniture, closets, and the laundry room. We live in a community in the middle of a highly active agricultural area and there is lots of dust and keeping the floors dust free is an ongoing job. Our Neato D$ gets the job done. As is pointed out in the literature, a robot vac won't do a deep clean of carpet, but we have carpet only in the master bedroom and the guest room. The rest of the house is laminat with a couple of area rugs. We set Benny loose two or three times a week and it keeps our floors dust free and our socks clean!
It takes Benny a little under two hours to complete a cycle of cleaning. That includes a trip back to the charging station about 2/3s of the way through the process. To give you an idea of how dusty it gets around here, we have to change the filter during each cycle even running Benny every couple of days. I ordered a box of filters so we'd have plenty on hand. I switch out the filter when Benny returns to recharge. If I'm not here when Benny is charging, I'll find it sitting somewhere waiting to have it's filter changed.
The mapping feature is great. The ability to mark off areas is an outstanding feature. I drew lines around a couple of pieces of furniture that Benny will get stuck under and I marked of the closets so Benny won't go in them if the doors are left open. Benny got into our walk in closet and got jammed up on some items that were left on the floor. It's easier to just keep Benny out of those areas.
When Benny is done, the floor is clean of dust, the carpet is clear of surface dirt and no dust bunnies gather under the beds. The bathroom floors are clean of hair and the kitchen floor is tidy. After a couple of months of use, we are quite pleased with this purchase.

You know different people get different results. We just started it up yesterday (mind you we vacuumed the day before with a D_son ball) and after it's first run the basket was filled with sand. Sand the D_son did not pick up. My wife also noticed that it was quiet. We have seen robotics at my son's and neighbors house and they were way louder. It mapped the house really well. I will review again in months to come.

I can't imagine not having a robot vacuum now. Having two dogs who shed and trying to manage dog hair is a never ending task. We run the Neato every day and it has cut down on loose hair on the floor and free floating hair that falls on our dark furniture by 90%. We have a 2 story 1500 sq ft home. We run the Neato downstairs in the morning, upstairs in the evening. We found this works for us as the battery will not last enough to complete both floors. I gave 4 stars only because there have been a few times where Neato has gotten confused and just stopped for no reason.

I have about 2200sq ft home and the battery life on D4 doesn’t cover that. It has to recharge several times before completing. Taking half a day to complete. D4 doesn’t clean that well either, Especially along the edges. I exchanged it for the D7!! Must say the D7 is night and day compared to this one. Everything about the D7 is superior and cleaner way better. I recommend spending the extra funds on D7

Very Satisfied After One Month's Use

Had the D4 about 1 month now and so far I am very happy. I have another non-connected Neato 80 that I have used for years to do my kitchen/dinette area so I was familiar with what to expect. I use the D4 to vacuum my carpeted den, master bedroom, and tiled master bath. It made a map the first time it ran I love that it vacuums in a logical pattern with no missed areas. Once I figured out how to connect it to my wifi (use the app procedure) it seems to hold the connection well and reconnects on it's own if it gets out of range in the back of the house or if you turn your wifi off and on. I have 2 dogs and the Neatos running every day or every other day save me a lot of work. I will say that when I took it out of the box I could not get it to charge or turn on but I discovered that the battery connector had not been pushed down firmly at the factory. I might buy another when on sale again to replace the Bobsweep I try to use upstairs.

This is definitely a must have it is a great vacuum this is an upgrade from the D3 model the difference is the D4 offers the no go lines so you no longer need those boundary lines that were needed to be laid around the house. My D3 broke and they no longer carry it so they gave me the D4 which is just as good. I am definitely happy with this model as well!

This order was a two edged sword. The first one I received had a bad sensor so while I could get it to vacuum, it wouldn't create a floor plan. Talked to Neato Robotics, excellent customer service, who determined it was a bad sensor. Talked to Best Buy and they sent a replacement.
The replacement arrived, and the battery was dead. Talked to Neato again and it was determined that the battery was dead. Neato offered to send a replacement, or I could contact Best Buy for another replacement.
2 robots, both defective out o the box. I was extremely frustrated. Before I sent the first D4 back, I swapped batteries and the replacement worked.
So, now I have a working D4. and I will tell you it works great! Suction is good, decent battery life. Cleans my entire apartment and follows the No-Go lines like a champ! Very happy with it now that it is working
So, like I said 2 edge, great customer service both from Best Buy and Neato. Works great, now that I have it working.
BUT, Very disappointed and frustrated that I got 2 defective ones.

I was skeptical at first cause the app seemed like it wasnt gonna work, but it finally did! The floor plan finished and now its operating fine. Just buy it on sale when less tha $300. Battery life is only about an hour and whenniys a big house it goes back to charge but it does resume afterwards.

This D4 took over the main floor from a model XV Neato. It maps, cleans (gets more dirt than it's predecessor), and navigates obstacles much better than the XV. It also gets itself unstuck much better, too.
We even cleaned the floor from out of state and received an updated map.

This is the second Neato that I have in use. While basically the same bot as my older one the addition of the mapping and no go lines makes this a lot easier to use. Enhanced features are controlled by the app and not a tiny screen as with its predecessor.

Our Neato has been such a great addition to our home! We named her Odessa. We have two indoor labs and Odessa cleans up after their hair all the time. She transfers from hard wood to carpet without any problems. It was so easy to set her up and get a floor plan mapped out for her with No-go lines and everything. I love that I can just start her from my phone and I don’t have to even touch it (except for emptying once in a while, but my kids think she’s so cool that they do it themselves) She will even stop herself, go to home base and recharge to finish the rest of the house when she’s low on batteries. We can set her up to clean on certain days or start her whenever we have things picked up. I can even start her when I’m away from home just by using my phone app. We love her and hope she lasts forever. Already changing her filter from just 4 weeks of use. Our female dog is shedding so Odessa has been working hard!

This is the replacement of our NEATO D5 connected which broke after heavy usage of 15 months.
Before getting this, we tried lots of vaccuums including Ecovacs T8 with auto empty.
NEATO is the best for cleaning and their software and hardware are pretty stable. Only drawback is, it does not come with side brushes
