It's a network switch, and it does what it needs to do. I use for hooking up network cameras in a studio, and it doesn't do anything strange like add latency or stutters. It has pretty good bandwidth, and is infinitely reliable. It has been powered on since I bought it, and has been running fine ever since.

Fits nicely in my electronics cabinet with my modem/router. Was able to connect all my hardwired cables instead of having to pick three or four. Works great.

Great product with 8 Ports that handles your expansion.
It's nice to have LAN hardwire vs WiFi as there's not chance for lag other than the occasional ISP lag.
Definitely would buy again as it is very responsive and handles all my Home Theater electronics quite well.

Works fine. No configuration needed (because it is unmanaged). Throughput is fine. Virtually no speed slow-down from my gigabit fiber router. If the internet providers would put more than 4 ports on their routers it would be nice, but it seems none of them do. This little switch solves the problem. Just plug any of the jacks into one port of your cable modem or fiber router, plug in the power cord and you are good to go.

Switch works just as advertised. I installed it and was able to use it without difficult setups or configurations. It simply does its job and is small enough to be out of the way without taking much space. The green lights on the back were great for me as I can see that I am getting a good connection where I connected the cable.

I needed an additional two ports for my home network. Rather than buying a more expensive switch with double the amount of ports I would have no use for the 8 port I am already using. Piggy backed this into my other 8 port, and it does the job! It is a solid piece of network equipment. I highly recommend Netgear for your network needs! You will not be disappointed!

These Netgear switches are the perfect solution when you need a SIMPLE, unmanaged switch for a small network or a few extra ports at the far reaches of a larger network. Very reliable, haven’t required maintenance or power cycling.

It works great! We wish we had bought one from Best Buy a long time ago. We bought it for home use to give us faster speeds and more secure hard line connections to our living room tv and Play Station.

I needed to "expand" my 4 port router but wasn't sure if I should get a 5 or 8 port switch. I didn't want a "big" 8 port switch on my desk but figured better too many ports than not enough. I was pleasantly surprised that the 8 port was not a "big" as I thought. It is the perfect size and will allow me further expansion if needed. Oh, and it works great too.

Working from home has added several devices to our home network. This was a great upgrade because the PC's and laptops can be connected via an ethernet connection keeping WiFi open for tablets, mobile phones and streaming devices. Reliable and easy to install. Just remember to connect this after your router for the best security.

Had an older Netgear switch for my office that was not rated for the upgraded internet speed I recently purchased. Believe it was only rated for about a quarter gig. So needed one that was rated at a gig. This one was easy to set up and works great as well as getting all the speed from my internet connection now.

Purchased this the other day when I was redoing my home network set up. Once I got everything set up, I realized that I would not need this 8 port switch but I have the same switch in a 5 port set up. Like NetGear switches! Not to fond of their modems and routers though. Just my personal preference.
