Decent switch but limited mounting options

This is a decent switch, but I had a Netgear that had more mounting options. In my scenario the switch was best positioned so all the cables, including power came from the back and the switch was positioned in the vertical orientation. This switch has the power on the back and all cables and status indicators on the front. So you have cables coming to the switch from two different directions. This may be a good idea if the switch is mounted in a rack, but otherwise it makes for more cable clutter.

This Netgear 8-Port Gigabit ethernet switch is just what you need to include the newest "networkable" items on your home network. It is built well. Worked fine immediately on install. And the cost is reasonable!

It works perfectly, and it's of better quality than the normal plastic switches you'll find. I have a number of these paired with a 48-port in the attic and all function perfectly.

My previous Netgear switch failed last week after 17 years of reliable service. My choice was simple - go Gigibit with additional ports with another Netgear switch at a very reasonable price.

Upgraded to a Nest router from Google. Only has 1 ethernet port. Sad day. This now sits next to the Nest router from Google and lets me plug in other devices. No complaints. Seems to work without error.
