I like everything about this camera, especially the quality of photos and video. The color is very realistic in almost all types of light. The moveable viewfinder is very handy for taking closeups as well as pictures over crowds or obstacles. The camera can be balanced easily and steadily in your hands while taking long range zoom photos. I use the zoom often for bringing in distant subjects as well as composing beautiful shots of landscapes, seascapes and cityscapes. The only thing this camera lacks is an automatic panoramic feature as I do not like stitching frame shots. Overall this is a fabulous and easy-to-use point and shoot camera, especially at this price point. It's a great size for taking around with you on vacation!

Really like the functionality of the camera especially the zoom and the panorama features. The size and weight is acceptable because of the capabilities. The WiFi is neat to synchronize the camera clock with the smart phone time and date.

We wanted a compact, easy to use camera for recent cruise to Panama Canal. Although not as compact as other cameras in this class (not pocket size), we loved the 38x zoom and the ease of shooting. Batteries add to size, but no hassle recharging is a plus and no problem with batteries lasting taking many pictures over 20 days. Pictures came out clear with vibrant colors. Still learning about all the features...probably did not make the most of all this camera offers, but as amateurs, this camera fit our needs.

I was able to navigate the features without using the manual. Takes sharp pictures with it's auto setting, and has a whole lot more capes as my confidence grows. Battery use has not seemed excessive.

I am very happy with this camera! I had been keeping an eye out for a good point and shoot with major zoom and this definitely fit the bill. I initially was looking at the L830, but spent so much time researching that the L840 appeared on the market and am glad because the L830 did not have the wifi feature and this one does!! I wavered back and forth on moving forward with the purchase for two reasons: 1 being the lack of wifi feature on the earlier version and 2: the fact that it takes regular AA batteries instead of an internal/external rechargeable battery. The requirement of regular batteries is actually great especially when it comes to traveling. I purchased this camera for a trip to South Africa and London. My two friends, one with the Samsung version of my camera and the other with a Sony DSLR and both with internal rechargeable batteries, had to recharge their cameras pretty much every night of our trip whereas my trusty duracells lasted me 10 days in Africa and the first couple days in London before they went dead. And of course all I had to do is switch them out instead of letting it sit on a charger for a few hours and missing out on epic shots through out the day. Definitely takes great photos during the day with and without zoom. Night photography is also great. I did experience some blurry pictures using the zoom at night, but in all honesty I am not a pro when it comes to taking pictures. I literally just point and shoot and I also didn't read the manual thoroughly to understand how to tinker with all the different settings to achieve the perfect photo. All in all, I believe this to be a good starter camera before you decide to spend a paycheck on one of the big gun DSLRs.

I have had two cameras in the past before. One was a Sony and the other was a Kodak. Both of these did not come cheap. What intrigued me the most about this camera was the fact that this was the cheapest out of both cameras I purchased in the past, and it performs better than the both of them combined. I love the high quality, vivid pictures this camera takes. Also, the zoom on this is incredible. The pictures always come out clear and you don't have to worry about whether or not it will focus in if it is too zoomed in. It's great for beginners too. You don't need to be a genius to operate this camera and I'm not much of a photographer either. I only shoot whenever I have free time or whenever I go to death metal shows.

I got this as a gift for my wife for Xmas. Actually it was one of two I got for her. The other was a compact lightweight camera that we returned. Original concern was that it would be too heavy, but she liked the heavier weighted one. Provides more stability to the shot I understand. Stylistically, the purple was a step above the standard black or grey. Easy to use, although we've not explored the wifi or video yet.

The L840 is an excellent camera for anyone who wants great pictures without needing a class on how to use the camera. I have played around with the settings to see what works best in different scenarios. The 'Auto' setting is usually sufficient. I mostly take pictures of the local marching band. The zoomed pictures are clear even from the top of the stands with the field lights on. The app makes it easy to take family photos without someone running from the camera to get into the shot.

Since I've had Coolpix in the past, this one was easy to operate. The larger size, for me, is a plus. Easier to handle and more stable. Plus, the purple metallic color makes it pretty.

I bought one of these for my wife before we went on a cruise to Alaska last year. She loves it and took many great pictures videos with it. I was impressed with many of the shoots that she as novice took. I used it for all the video we took which gave us amazing HD video of some of the most beautiful country you will ever see. Anyway we loved it so much we bought our daughters one for Christmas and they too have fallen in love with this camera because it is so easy to use and take such great pictures and video.

Superb for a NON DSLR Point and Shoot. I have a nifty Nikon DSLR that replaced my old school Nikon SLR. I am picky about point and shoots because I learned back in the day (im old) on an SLR and developed my own film. I needed something lighter that I didnt feel as worried about using while out and about and was intrigued by this camera. As a rule I do not like Point and Shoot cameras but being a tech junkie and a photo taking junkie (non professional) I have to say that this camera really takes beautiful photos. I was impressed. I am a Nikon lover and this camera experience has done nothing but add to my loyalty. If you are looking for the feel and similar (but not as much customization) image quality of a DSLR this will be a nice middle of the road camera for enthusiast without the DSLR price.

I bought this camera for my grand daughter as a starter. she loves her camera and the cool features that it has. she is getting very creative with her new light weight camera. We sometimes take rides to get pictures of the beautiful scenery around us. Its a great starter camera for her. I got it in her favorite color, purple. She was very happy with it.
