Customers are saying

Customers find value in the D500 DSLR Camera's superior image quality, fast frame rate, and excellent low-light performance, frequently praising its ability to capture sharp images even in challenging conditions. However, some users noted concerns regarding the lack of a built-in flash, battery life, and the cost and availability of XQD memory cards. The camera's weight was also mentioned as a potential drawback by a few users.

Great advanced camera considered a pro model

This is truly a pro level camera even though it's a crop sensor not a full format version. I used it in rain yesterday in the North Carolina mountains and didn't worry about ruining it as it's weather sealed. It did require a bit of a learning curve as I moved up from a Nikon D5300.

I have owned many of Nikon cameras and this one definitely takes the cake. Although it is a crop sensor, the 10fps and low light capabilities make it one of the best I have used.

I love my D500. It’s basically the Terminator of all cameras. I debated long and hard about getting a full frame camera but after speaking to some longtime pros and doing a lot of research I’m so glad I picked this one. Best camera on the planet!

I wanted a backup to my D5 and wanted one that would extend the reach of my 300mm lens. This now gives me 450mm and with a 1.4 extender 620mm!The focus and metering systems in the camera are the same as the D5 witch is incredible. Fantastic camera in every aspect!

I love my D500. I did alot of research and found that no matter how much money I spent I couldn't find a better Nikon camera for flying birds. Still had lots of money left to buy great lenses compared to the top of the line full frame cameras.

This camera has been long in the waiting. I have a Nikon D300 and this camera is far superior, Excellent auto white balance, great resolution on LCD screen. This is an all around excellent camera. However, the matrix meter mode is not as good as on my D800.

This prosumer camera has a little higher learning curve than the average consumer camera. However, if you are willing to put the time in, you will never look back! Too many positive things to say here. Look at the online reviews. They are all true!

I have owned a lot of Nikon cameras. I was pleasantly surprised that this one is just as good if not better than some of the higher end models. I love the thumb switch for selection of the focus area. I hope all future models do this.

Very nice upgrade to the D750. Video auto focus is so, so much better. Mirrorless might be ‘the thing’ right now (and the future) but the DSLR definitely is not dead.

Long time Nikon shooter has both DX (7000-7100-300-200)& FX (800e- 810- 600- 700)bodies. When you want to lighten the load some and still get performance the D500 coupled with better DX glass will not disappoint.

I use this camera for landscapes and portraiture. The AF accuracy is astounding and the dynamic range allows for great color adjustments in LR. I have yet to test this for birding or sports but I know it can deliver.

Pros - Great Body - Good battery life - Good ISO range - Good Grip Cons - there is nothing wrong with the camera, if i really have to pull up a con, it would be the strap - not a great fan of the new texture
