The D810 is an amazing camera. I migrated from the D800 and was worried it would only be an incremental upgrade, but it turns out the D810 feels and performs like a brand new camera. The first thing you will notice is the quieter and smooth shutter sound which is very gratifying. The camera ergonomics feel very good and although slightly lighter, still feels substantial in your hand. The focus system is vastly improved and found myself using Group AF primarily for all shooting. My keeper rate has increased tremendously between the combination of the minimized shutter slap and the improved AF. Although I shoot RAW, I did notice JPG processing in the camera is much improved. Tonal colors, sharpness, clarity, and contrast have been tweaked and produce excellent photos - to my eye. Your taste may vary. Controls are logical and familiar between the D700 and D800 phones I have. I do not use video. I am still digging into the new features such as the Highlight Exposure mode, Live view improvements, etc. To me this is the best all around and balanced DSLR on the market today.

I couldn't ask for more. As of now this dslr is a must if you are looking to reproduce beautiful images with plenty of details. I am enjoying the all design and concept. Placement of controls are awesome and quite in the right place. I wish this camera would have a moving screen.

The pluses are that it's hard to take a "bad" photo with this camera. Camera has exceptional low light capability, plus multiple settings and features give you great flexibility when composing your shots. Also makes great movies. The minuses are that it is a little heavier than most other Nikon DSLRs, and it's a bit pricey. Overall, I highly recommend it if you can afford the price.

Nikon consistently provided excellent camera platforms and have not failed with the D810. The full frame high resolution of the D810 makes this a great addition or upgrade to anyone looking to step up photography with this well designed camera.

This camera is a great camera. Great in low light. The only downside is the large file sizes. The camera is easy to use for someone who has a little camera knowledge.

LOVE the reduced shutter noise over Canon. switched & have not been disappointed despite people's beliefs that canon is superior by default. Great quality images for large prints. Happy

I really like this camera, though it is a bit heavy for what I like. The quality is very good. I do not like that it is not wifi capable.

I'm really happy with quality and built in menus on the 810 compared to my 7100. It has been much more versatile and the image quality is greatly improved for enlarging pictures.

    Upgraded to D810 from D800

I recently upgraded to D810 after using the D800 for 9 months and am very pleased with my purchase. I am a wedding photographer and the D810 has been a joy to use because it's very quite, smooth, and fast to focus even in low light. As other have said this feels like a totally different camera than the D800 and it appears that I get better exposures and white balance from the D810. I am very happy and feel it was worth the upgrade, especially as I had back focusing issues with the D800. Yay for the D810!!!

I've been using my new D810 for a few weeks now and really love it. The low light photos are excellent, and the faster focus speed is a welcome improvement over my D700. Video focusing is great also. This camera is as good as the pro models, without the pro price or battery life (or the weight). I highly recommend it for enthusiasts through pro photographers.

The Nikon 810 is a great camera. It has a high learning curve to understand all the settings, but once you do, the camera performs exceptionally well. Combined with good lenses, the sky is the limit.

As a previous Nikon D800 owner I was delighted at all the new changes here. Much more usable than the D800. Most important to me is the way I can easily take SHARP pictures handheld. If you've been looking to get a full frame DSLR, this is the way to go!

Did a lot of research on DSLR cameras including all the new releases such as Nikon D500 and Canon 5D mark 4. Honestly, I love the Nikon color (possibly the only other that seems to come close is Fuji.) the d810 camera is a Best Buy right now due to the low price and all the goodies that BB offers, including the battery grip. I got all new glass, the new 24-70 and new 70-200. Pictures come out amazing. Had to get a flash, since the build in flash position causes a shadow from the lenses. If you have a prime or a standard zoom, build in flash probably ok. But new top shelf glass is obviously bigger and longer. I expect that Nikon will come out very soon with a d820 or d850 as replacement, but this camera gives me everything I need for next 5yrs at a fantastic price. For those who are wondering which way to go: Nikon, canon, Sony, or even Fuji. I will say that I got the a7r2 first with Sony too glass and I hated the cool color that Sony provides. Canon seemed more expressive to buy into right now and the current Nikon gear is better plus I think the Nikon coloring (except for red) is better than canon. Fuji is top notch but doesn't offer a full frame option (so it's more of a competitor to Nikon DX format and Sony a6500.) so currently Nikon is the way to go and cheapest too.

Excellent ergonomics. Very nice image quality. good configurability. Shutter release and sound was a nice surprise. good feel, nicely damped and quiet compared to my D4. just the ticket for hi detail imagery like landscape work. gives some added flexibility to correct composition mistakes without shorting the image size for a nice size print.

Pros, This camera is a great upgrade to my D300 . Cons, Because it has large files and great detail you are required to use higher than Windows Vista in order to process raw images. I also took the time to review some software and decided to go with Photoshop Lightroom and Photoshop Elements, these programs along with the Nikon nxd software is a great package. Rather than upgrade my computer's to Windows 10 and lose my existing software, I decided to get a dedicated computer for processing images

I baught this camera after owning a Nikon D4s for a year. I use my D4s for concert photography and was looking for a camera better suited for landscape and portrait work. The Nikon 810 delivered stunning results paired with the AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II. A high recomadation for any serious photographer looking for a well priced camera that delivers photos with loads of detail and depth.
