I bought the 2ds becuase I wanted something affordable, while still being able to play 3ds games. The way the 2ds is built is something to adjust to, but it my opinion its still good (even better) than the 3ds. Now I can play the games I love and use apps like Netflix and youtube.

What makes a good system is the games available for it, and the Nintendo 3DS does not currently have that many strong games, but some of the ones it does have are very strong and more are coming out all the time. I wouldn't recommend buying one unless you know exactly what games you want for it, because the selection isn't too great. But if you do have games you want, and just care about being able to play them and not about seeing them in 3D, the 2DS presents a pretty nice value. Personally, I don't care for the 3D, so just getting to play the handheld Zelda games is enough for me. The biggest problem I have with the system is it's a little awkward to hold, with it being thin towards the bottom and thicker going up, but it doesn't prove to be a problem if you're gaming in shorts bursts.

The Nintendo 2DS is a product released by Nintendo, at the same time as the Pokemon X & Y world-wide release. The Nintendo 2DS is absurdly comfortable in your hand. your hand will not cramp or otherwise get tired from holding this device. The Nintendo 2DS is also very easy to set-up. Any Questions you may have relating to this device can be easily found in the multi-lingual manual that comes with it, or by use of the Notice system in the home menu. This Handheld lacks the 3DS feature of the... well... 3DS. This does not detract from gameplay in any way, because 3D is a novelty feature. There are no compatibility issues. This will play all Nintendo DS and 3DS games without problems. It has a mono-sound output. I personally cannot tell the difference between Mono and Stereo, so I could care less. However, Stereo is much more apparent with headphones, and headphones do increase sound quality... just like it does for everything else. You may have problems transporting your 2DS. Nintendo already has an official product for this, but without it you may need to be a little innovative. This is probably the biggest drawback of this system The System has a slate design rather than a clamshell design. What this means is that the system as a whole fits more comfortably in your hands and that you don't have to worry about a detached hinge... ever.

I have always sort of wanted a 3DS XL but didn't think it was worth the price. Wasn't interested in the 3D aspect so a 2DS is fine with me. i haven't played too many games with it. A few DS games friends have lent me. Looking forward to picking up some of the Mario games and Luigi's mansion dark moon. Enjoyed playing some Galaga and Galaxian on one of the DS carts a friend lent me.

I want to start off this review by saying that the 2ds is a great system but I ended up returning it for a 3ds XL. So the 2ds is awesome, it plays all the 3ds games in 2d (I don't even use 3d features anyway) and it has smaller screens and a smaller design. It has pretty solid battery life (but not as good as the 3ds XL) and it is half the cost of the 3ds XL! So I bought it for those reasons but after using it for a week then I noticed that after playing for about a half an hour then my hands would cramp up because it is a different type of button layout. I had read that it was more geared towards kids, but since I didn't like 3d and wanted to save money then I got this first. It is a great little system, but I bought the 3ds XL and absolutely love it! The screen size is such a difference and it is amazing. But this is too!

    Good Bargain Handheld

I got this in order to play the new Ace attorney game. While I was aware that this is basically a Nintendo 3ds, without the 3d feature or clamshell design, all I cared if it can play 3ds games. The handheld is not wide enough that it would be uncomfortable to hold but the back of the handheld is smooth its difficult to grip in some playing styles. The other drawback is the battery life is shorter than expected but can last a couple of days in standby modes. I don't mind that it doesn't have a clamshell design but this means that its cumbersome to put in your jacket or pants and more prone to scratches if it falls or handled roughly. If you want to play 3ds games and don't mind or care for the 3d feature and you don't expect to carry this with you 24/7 this is a good bargain alternative to the other 3ds handhelds.

I have to say I was never a nintendo fan but my best friend wanted me to play with her on her DS so we been play Mario cart and monster hunter all the time. There are some classic games I wanted to try out so this little console is prefect for it. Why i didn't pick this up sooner is beyond me but glad I have it.

I have the 3DSXL, but I bought the 2DS for my 6 year old cousin (and godson) for his birthday/going away present for a mission trip. I figured it would keep him occupied while on a long trip. He loves it! He is too young for the 3D features that even hurt my 32 year old eyes. I love my 3DSXL for the bigger screen, but the 3D feature, while cool, can give you a headache after a while. The 2DS is awesome for younger gamers (with responsible parents)

After first hearing about the 3DS release, I never became too enthralled with the use of the 3D technology as the major perk, I wasn't sold. After more and more games began being released, I later gained greater interest, but was still turned off by the 3D technology - yes I know it could be switched between on and off, but that doesn't excuse the price. After later hearing that the system would be re-released without the 3D for $125.00, I was sold. Put plainly, the product doesn't need any high-end upgrade to gain my attention. The only part that matters to me are the games.

i bought this after owning a 3ds and deciding that the 3d was to much for me. i love this system because i can still play the latest 3d games without the actual 3d killing my eyes and giving me a headache. not to mention for the price its great!

So this is basically a 3DS without the 3D and without the clamshell design. It's stronger since it's one piece, but it's also less portable, and it's easier to drain the battery since you can't just shut the top closed to turn the screens off. Still though, you save $40 from the price of a 3DS, so if you want to save some money and you want something more durable, this is probably better than a 3DS for you.

With the ability to play 3DS and DS games, the 2DS has plenty to play. If you don't care about the 3D, its a cheaper alternative to the 3DS.

The controls on the 2DS aren't quite as comfortably placed as they are on the 3DS. Otherwise, this is a great product! I bought this as a replacement for my 7year old who's 3DS had recently broken after 2yrs of use. Overall, the 2DS is MUCH more durable, which is a necessity for younger kids. You don't have to worry about the flip up breaking, it plays all the same 3DS games, just only in 2D, which my daughter prefers anyway.

The 2ds is amazing. My 3 year old ejoys it so much. Its is great for mario cart 7 and pokemon x or y. Other than a 6 hours battery life its a good system. The price is also good for people with a tight budget

I really love this DS, it's gorgeous and perfect when you can't stay home to play on your consoles. It's great for all gamers. There is also lots to do on it even without any purchased games. It can also play any games you may have purchased from a previous DS model.

I bought this because the 3D option makes me sick -- I'm so glad they came out with a 2D version that can play the games (and at a lower price)! The shape is a little funny, but it's a great device.
