God low priced receiver, but could have better ports for connectors and lacks a port for a remote signal pickup bug.

Bad HDMI Port, Lousy Support Help

Our ONKYO ran for about 6 months, connected to an Epson projector via HDMI, then suddenly the Epson could not find the signal. I first spoke with an ONKYO customer support rep who convinced me my HDMI cable was no longer completing the handshake with the Epson. The cable is only 14 feet, so not a very long run, but following the rep's suggestion, I invested in a J-Tech transmitter and receiver to send the signal over ethernet with two short 3' HDMI cables on either end. Still no signal. So I went and bought a new television so that I could get it close enough to the ONKYO to connect with just a 3 foot HDMI cable. Still no signal. I just got off the line with "support," and they connected me with a service center in New York. @@@@@@@@ I live in Delaware and the rep was geographically challenged, as he first said the nearest repair center was in Illinois. @@@@@@@ I just got off the phone with assistance at this repair center, and it turns out I have to send the receiver in at my expense, then wait for two weeks or so for a repair. What a runaround! I have now heard that ONKYOs are notorious for bad HDMI ports, so if you value your time and want to avoid frustration and going without a receiver, by all means, BUY ANOTHER BRAND.

The receiver looks good and was pretty easy to set up. But I'm having some issues with all of the functions sending signals to the TV. I need to read the manual in a little more detail and hopefully I can figure it out.

I only gave it 4 stars because I returned the first purchase because the sound occasionally went in and out and wouldn't recognize the signal unless I lightly bumped the back of the receiver. Maybe something inside was loose. The second one seems to work well. It is a simple receiver so I don't have to worry about someone accidentally changing the settings and spending much time to return it back to the desired settings.

I upgraded my TV but felt like the old receiver was not working properly. Found out the drivers can't handle the new TV signals. I didn't want to spend thousands to replace everything in the walls so I tried just replacing the receiver. Everything is labeled on the back so setup is a breeze. I tried out the room calibration using the included microphone and all my speakers and sound were set automatically. It works perfectly as it should. Fantastic theater sound without any extras I don't need or use.
