I bought this Open Box and have been extremely impressed, so far. Lots of connectivity for speakers, HDMI input and through-put, Optical Audio, etc.. The Menu system does the job...it's just not a terribly user-friendly UI.
I am very impressed with the sound quality. Very clean and clear, even at extreme volumes. This Pioneer replaced an old Yamaha receiver and I have discovered new depths in both music and movie audio.
I would give this 5-stars except for one, annoying problem that seems to be common with this particular model. There is an update error that continually happens. It doesn't have any effect on the functionality but no matter how many times/ways I update the software, it eventually resets and shows the error message. Annoying but certainly not a deal breaker because it really has zero effect on performance.

When deciding to purchase a new HDMI capable receiver, I looked at the Pioneer, Onkyo and Yamaha lines. I decided on this one. What a great receiver for the price. Easy set up and love the iPad app which you can download for free. Works flawless.

We bought this receiver to replace our old one and so we could watch t.v. Inside and listen to music outside. This does the job and the sound quality is superb. It is nice to be able to listen to my iPod through the receiver too. It is annoying that it starts. at the beginning of the alpha list of songs every time I reconnect my iPod. It would be nice if it remembered where I left off like when I play my iPod through earbuds, and I can't seem to get AirPlay to work more times than not. If not for those two issues, I would give the receiver 5 stars.

I purchased this receiver to upgrade my system and replace a pioneer that was about 10 years old. I wasn't sure about the benefit of the 7.2 channels and the extra speakers I was going to need to get the full benefit from the receiver but it was well worth it. Sounds great. Set up instruction need to have a little work on them. It took a couple of tries before I finally got it.

Bought this on sale for $350 and couldn't be happier. There are so many options to fine tuner for every listener. Plenty of power to push my new klips have reference setup ( two towers, sub, and bookshelfs ) this is a 7.2 reciever so I can still add the surround speakers when I'm ready. Love it

Difficult to setup, but once I got it going. It works great. I did find that the microphone to setup the speakers wasn't very accurate. Menus in the receiver are confusing. However, I really like the receiver now that I have it set up.

Pleased with VSX-1124-K 7.1 Receiver

I have been using my Pioneer VSX-1124-K for the past month, and I am very pleased. The setup with existing speakers was simple. The configuration was fairly straight forward, but I would recommend skimming the quick setup to make certain you know what the defaults settings and what to change them to for your input devices (example blu ray, dvd player, etc). As you are probably aware, you only get 7.1 one some of the newer blu rays. When I have played a 7.1 blu ray, I really appreciate the depth and clarity of the sound from all the channels. I have sub, center, two front, two side, and two high rear. One day, I hope to add two high front speakers (NOTE: yes, you can have 9.1 speakers but the high front and rear cannot produce sound at the same time, which means it is still 7.1 but can throw the sound between front and rear). It performs well as a 5.1 system, which is the majority of the use. However, I thought I would give you more insights on the 7.1 side since you are probably like me and looking for more 7.1 films. 4 stars is because it is only network-ready. Competitors seem to have built-in wifi at this price. However, you can buy a simple "wifi extender with Ethernet port" to get this thing only cheaply.

I have not even fully explored the potential of this receiver. I purchased this Pioneer 1175W, 7.2 unit to replace a Harmon Kardon 85W per channel 5.2 that failed after many years of service. The Pioneer offers extreme flexibilty with a number of platform interfaces and provides a clear, crisp, quality sound experience through our Cambridge Soundworks speaker system.
We have linked this receiver to our internet and various Apple devices and we are very happy with the results.
I am an old-school audiophile, demanding a lot. For the price, this receiver is amazing.

Shopping for a new receiver (between the yamaha 677, piovsx44 and the denon) and came across Best Buy was having a firesale on this for 349.00 and the vsx44 elite for $299. I chose this because it had pre-outs and a few other little features which I liked such as the display looking more modern rather than the "old orange" look from the elite series. Also sabre DAC was nice to see. Initial set up was a breeze honestly. I have high end speakers and a nice sub. Powers them like a dream and the remote is also very easy to use. MCACC setup was decent too. I have a 4K smart TV as well so ARC technology was great and very simple too. I do not think this receiver is HDCP 2.2 but does pass 4K and is HDMI 2.0 so for 349 it truly was a steal. For those who have an iPhone/iPod it also is great with literally plug and play and a nice display on the TV. I do bitstream my audio just because I'm picky and like seeing the TrueHD, HD-MA, PCM etc displayed on the screen so I know what audio I am listening to from the blu-ray or other sources and do not forget to switch to the preferred soundtrack. This is a review for owning and operating for 2 weeks now!
review in short-
the good:
7.2
great looking
easy to use interface and setup (so easy the girlfriend learned in 5 min)
Pre-outs
4K pass through
Features
PLENTY of HDMI ports 6 in and 2 out!
the bad (but not really so terrible)
no wireless
tiny delay in switching over to some of the HDMI but nothing to really keep you from purchasing

Recently purchased this unit as the main controller in a second system in my home that I wanted to drive my Great Room Audio as well as my outdoor setup. Put this unit in my media closet and am controlling with a combination of the iControl App as well as a Harmony RF Remote. Overall this unit performs excellent with plenty of power to drive all areas and the upscaling of the video is as well as the many options you have to tweak the sound quality are great.
The only drawback to this unit and most of them for that matter is the limitation of using a digital source in Zone 2.

Bought the display model product and they couldn't find the remote. The product itself works great, enough connections for all 5 speakers and Polk audio sub. Definitely enough power if that's what you're looking for. Really wish it had Bluetooth capabilities for spotify, Apple music..

This receiver is higher end, not middle of the road, which is what I want. I wanted an ethernet input which it has, and am glad that I opted for the 7:2 instead of 5:2. It has a good solid metal cabinet with a sharp clean appearance. I have other Pioneer products and have always been pleased with them.
