I love the mapping and organized cleaning that this robot has as opposed to randomly driving around hitting things that my previous Shark Bait did. Cleans well and does a fairly good job of not getting hair tangled around the brush.

Find another vac

This has to be the dumbest smart vac on the market. I have owned it for about 3mo. About once a week I have had to remap the entire home because the map just up and disappears. The no go zones also disappear that have been added. The sensors that scan are not very good. They miss things or they are too high or low. The vac will bump into objects over and over and over to the point it has damaged furniture and the vac itself. The vac does a great job cleaning when it works. The app is horrible and not good at all. Many glitches with it which I think makes the entire purchase 1 star.

Great but too many errors

I’m writing this review after having this for a few months now. At first it was great but it comes up with too many errors, disconnects rather often, and doesn’t always process what’s in front of it. For example, because it doesn’t always ~see~ my cats love sitting in front of it every single time and obstruct it from its mission. Overall, it does the job. It’s more powerful than I was expecting and I’m happy with it.

Awesome Robot Vacuum!

The Shark AV2001 AI Robot Vacuum is a great piece of technology to make your life easier. Following are my observations while setting up and using it:
- There is a Quick Start Guide that made set up of the charging station, robot and App very easy, with good descriptions and illustrations.
- There is also an included Owner's Guide which is easy to interpret and includes maintenance and trouble-shooting information.
- The App prompted me through each step of the setup, including connecting to WIFI.
- You first need to do an "Explore" run to map out the area in which it will be used. That run took about 30 minutes for the whole first level of my house. It was really interesting to watch as it moves sporadically around your rooms, sometimes going back into a room it had already been in and then coming back. It returned to the dock at the end of mapping the last room, with 80% charge left.
- After the Explore run, the App sent me a map of all of our rooms. It prompts you to OK the map, or you can request it to do another Explore run. I felt the original map was a little off, so I requested a second Explore run. The second time it took about 35 minutes and I felt the map looked good after the second run.
- During the Explore runs the robot did bump into the furniture a bit, but not hard enough to leave any marks or dents on anything. It doesn't bump into things much after the mapping is done and it is actually vacuuming.
- The robot has no trouble navigating different heights of flooring, such as carpet to wood to tile to rugs. It handles moving back and forth across all these flooring types seamlessly.
- After mapping is complete, you can use the App to choose as many rooms as you'd like to clean, from one room to all of them. You just select merge to add which rooms you'd like to have vacuumed and can change that each time you use it.
- When doing the vacuuming, the robot has a more methodical route around the room and furniture, including under any furniture it can get under. It starts by outlining the room and then goes back and forth across the room and under furniture and around obstacles. It is very interesting to watch and very thorough at covering all areas. I love the fact it goes under my sofas and chairs and cleans those areas every time I vacuum, as those are areas that normally wouldn't get done every time if I was vacuuming manually.
- The robot is significantly quieter than a normal vacuum.
- I have all seven rooms of my house merged, but it is not able to do all seven rooms in one charge. When the battery runs low, it automatically goes back to the charging station. I have the App set with the Recharge and Resume option, so after the robot is fully charged it knows right where it left off and automatically resumes vacuuming the rest of the house from that point on. Pretty cool!
- The vacuum takes about 5 hours to fully recharge.
- The App allows you to schedule your cleaning by choosing morning, afternoon or evening. You can also choose daily or specific days of the week to clean or start it spontaneously.
- After the vacuuming is finished, the dust bin is easy to pop out of the robot to open it up and clean it out. The bin is large enough I don't have to empty it after each vacuum.
- I am quite pleased with how good the suction is on this vacuum and how well it adjusts to and cleans all of my different types of floors. As previously mentioned, it is also nice that it can get under furniture and places I wouldn't normally vacuum every time without moving furniture around.
Overall, I am very happy with my new Shark AV2001 Robot Vacuum! Vacuuming is one household chore that just became quite easy. With the ability to program it on a schedule, I don't even have to worry about my floors being vacuumed on a regular basis, as it takes care of all of that for me.

So far I am pleased with this purchase, the mapping was decent and it did a good job cleaning.
The only complaint is that after the first mapping the app lost everything by the next day and I had to re-map and setup zones.

Sharky cleaning the house

Id it a replacement for a manual vacuum? No it is not. But with a German Shepherd bringing in dirt and dropping a lot of hear, this unit keeps the house clean between the manual cleaning. In the 3 weeks we had it, it only managed to get stuck one time when it managed to get over a peace of lose trim material we had on the floor, but could not find its way back over it.
We still have a bunch of construction material blocking part of the rooms and only towards the end of the week Sharky will get full roam of the house.
Positive:
it cleans well
noise level is very well acceptable.
easy to empty dust tray
extended clean allows it to return to the dock to recharge and continue cleaning
Sharky listens to the Alexa commands to start cleaning or dock when we ask without the need to push the buttons
Negative:
The map created during the exploration does not look anything like our house
The app on the iPhone is a bit clunky (to say it mildly)
The space requirements around the docking station are a bit too much. A 7' x 7' space with nothing blocking it.
in Our case the space in front is there but we skipped on the 3 foot on both sides next to the docking station

Best purchase I have ever made! We set it up to vacuum whole house daily. It always has a good amount of hair and dirt in it to empty. Amazing how it seems to have AI. Only downer would be that the app does not always work, but it does not affect the great job that the vacuum does. We have not had to use the old vacuum at all since we started using this and the floors and carpet always look great.

Absolute junk. Vacuum will not stay connected to our high end cox fiber optic wifi, on the 2.4ghz band, for more than half of a cleaning of a 1800 square foot area. The app is not user friendly and is completely useless in attempting to simply re connect the vacuum to wifi without having to completely delete it then go through a complete setup process again. This setup also requiring the maping of your house AGAIN. Have already gone through this process 4 times in a single day trying to get it setup. DO NOT BUY! Save your money, frustration and overall headache and purchase a different brand. Terrible experience with a robot vacuum
