The Sony FE 4/24-70 lens is absolutely wonderful—a true gem for both videography and photography. Its versatility makes it perfect for capturing everything from wide-angle shots to detailed close-ups, all with stunning clarity and precision. The lens delivers excellent image quality with vibrant colors, sharp details, and smooth bokeh, which adds a professional touch to both photos and videos. The constant f/4 aperture is great for consistent performance in various lighting conditions, and the autofocus is fast and reliable, making it easy to capture those fleeting moments effortlessly. Whether you’re a content creator, filmmaker, or photographer, this lens is a game-changer. It’s hands down the best investment I’ve made for my gear. Highly recommended!

Excellent Sony SEL2470Z lens on my Sony a6300

Hi, I have a Sony a7s and Sony a6300. I've only used it on the a6300 because of the 4k video feature. The videos and photos are very clear with great detail. Pros: Very light, quiet, stabilized, and super sharp lens compared to my Sony SEL24240. Works great with my a6300. I also get nice bokeh with the lens. I was surprised about the bokeh coming from a Mitakon 50mm f/0.95. Cons: I can only compare it to the Sony SEL24240, Mitakon 50mm f/0.95, and the best in class 55mm Zeiss lens that I use and I still can't think of anything negative.

I love my Sony - FE 24-70mm f/4 Zoom OSS SEL2470z lens. The Zeiss Optics in this product produce sharp clear images. I use this glass on my Sony Alpha 7ii ( a7ii ) in low light conditions (indoors mostly). The Sony FE 24-70mm also works well outdoors making it an all around great lens. It can fit and work on my a6000 which if I am not mistaken would make it a 36- 105mm. I can capture great portraits and zoom in on most objects even with movement because of it's OSS (optical stabilization). I would recommend this to most people for an all around great lens. Even better would be to have a seperate great wide angle lens to compliment this lens. Have a Great Day, JW~

Purchased as my first e-mount for a Sony A7R-II and it's taken me a few months before I found a situation that I felt the lens couldn't handle. It's extremely versatile! Super-sharp, great feel, and does extremely well on a gimbal. In shooting some music performance videos, it certainly isn't a silent lens so if you're shooting a scene on AF-C, you'll hear a little focus motor. It's not bad but for critical audio, it'll come through. However, with AFL/AEL engaged, it makes a fantastic piece of glass to shoot some really great performance videos. I've learned that you can push the lens at F/4 and get some great DOF effects, but (as I've learned) more extreme bokeh and shallow DOF shots are likely going to need a lower stop. I'm no real pro, though, so maybe you'll get even better results than I have - and I've been super happy.

This 24-70mm Sony Zeiss lens has superb quality. Rich contrast, crystal clear focus, and razor sharp!! I have paired this lens with the Sony a7ii camera body, and the results are pro quality all the way.

Great lens for event photography, I would go with a smaller aperture for portraits (2.8), but in general this is an adequate all around lens for most event/landscape photography.

Wonderful short zoom lens. I debated this or the 24-105 G lens. They are both excellent. This lens originally retailed for about $1,200…. And it shows. Zeiss T* glass has that certain ‘something’ (similar to Leica, which I also own).. images pop thanks to the microcontrast, colors, and overall rendering. My Sony A1 is a great test too for this lens’ resolving power and I have yet to find any issues there even though this lens was designed back when single digit and low-teen megalixel sensors were state of the art. The 24-105 G is a fantastic lens also; technically it is more sophisticated and more advanced. But this 24-70 Zeiss/Sony is tiny in comparison and looks more like one of my primes. It’s smaller, lighter, practically hides in my backpak and a perfect complement to my 70-300 G lens (a other winner….)

Sony 24-70 F/4 is an excellent choice for that one lens in your bag. It is light and right size for Sony mirrorless. This lens is very sharp, I use it for landscape and travel photography but it can also be used for portraits and or group photos. This lens is wide enough at 24mm and at 70mm it can be used for both portraits and or landscape zoom lens. Its not 2.8mm aperture for low light or smooth bokeh but neither does it carry a price tag of 2.8mm lens nor it’s as heavy to wear you down for day long photography. It does have built in stabilization so am able to use it in low light with 1/30th shutter speed so I am very happy with my purchase. I traded my 28-70mm kit lens to get this constant F/4 lens and so far am very happy with my decision

I read a lot of mixed reviews on this lens. I would say that overall, the people that are overly critical of this lens are, nuts. It is a fantastic carry around lens for any of the A series cameras. I own a A7ii and the shots that I have taken with this have been very satisfying. You can definitely see a difference over the kit 28-70mm that is included with most A series bodies. The colors are richer, the images are vastly more sharp. The bad reviews or poor reviews for this lens, via the net, are not justified at all. If you are looking for a excellent replacement mid range zoom lens for your A series camera and you are looking to step up your game all around, you will not be unhappy with this purchase.

This lens is affordable compared to the 2.8 lens. I was using the kit lens and needed to upgrade. The sharpness and depth in photos when I use this compared to my old lens is insane. I recommend purchasing Sony products compared to others. I tested two other lenses from non-Sony companies and they were not as sharp. I recommend this to everyone.

Super convenient. Perfect for when you can't take other lenses with you. Quick and versital to cover most of your needs. Not as sharp as g master but still nice. Not too heavy either. And focus fairly quick. It's become the lens I have most often on my a7rii. (Have a 90mm g master, 28mm, 16mm fish eye). I actually have it on camera and in my cup holder when driving around. Could've used a lower step f-stop (they just came out with new version that has it). Just a little on the high side in regards to price too. This should be a 600ish lens tops.

This is a very nice lens for the price. I did buy it as an open-box item because my Best Buy doesn't carry much, and I was waiting for the new 24-104 which is even better. This lens is a lot lighter than the new zoom, so it'll be easier to carry when we don't need a zoom. The f/4 isn't as good as several good primes, but still solid.

Wonderfully compact zoom for Sony FE Mirrorless

It still amazes me how small this lens is. It's a perfect fit for the size of my A7R II and adds little physical size or weight over the bare camera body itself. It's a perfect walk-around lens, which is astounding given that iit is attached to a 42.5MP Full Frame camera. micro 4/3rds was developed to overcome the size and weight issues that stemmed from traditional DSLRs, but Sony came along and told users that they could have their cake and eat it too, and this lens perfectly exemplifies what Sony is doing. Sure, it could stand to be faster (at the expense of size/weight), but I find with modern digital camera sensitivity the f/4 aperture is a non-issue for the most part. If i need faster I usually need far more than a single stop, and for those situations a prime is more ideal. If you have an FE Sony mount camera, this lens should be in your kit, even if just to have for those times when you want to travel compact (in fact, I am travelling with my combo at the moment).

The lens is sharp, light, and comes with stabilization. As someone who typically prefers prime lenses, I'm surprised by how much I prefer to use this lens. When working for clients it's great to not have to slow down the shoot by switching to different lenses for certain shots. The distortion is quite intense especially once zoomed all the way to 70mm. However, Lightroom's lens preset does an excellent job of correction the issue.

Thought I was gonna hate it and return it. Nope, I’m keeping it for sure! The colors are absolutely beautiful in this lens! It’s so compact, now I can take my a7riii anywhere without having to worry about size and weight. I’m sure not as sharp as Gmaster version, but I would say close enough and once again it’s a definite winner for size & weight & price! I heard mixed reviews of the gmaster version that it’s not worth it, so I bought this one and couldn’t be happier!

I read multiple reviews and watched YouTube videos telling all the negatives about this lens, and I had my doubts buying it. HOWEVER, I need to say that I really like this lens and it is superior than the kit lens SEL2870. I am using this lens on the Sony a7 and I am very pleased with the image quality. The constant aperture at 4 and the OSS allows me to shoot handheld at 1/20 of a sec, giving me some options for low light photography (especially if people are not drastically moving or simply posing for a photo). I found this amazing since with the kit lens, I normally have to shoot at 1/50 of a sec before the images become blurry. In my experience, great OSS. The lens is also very sharp and the colors seem to get captured better. I was also glad that I did not find significant distortion issues on the a7 (the a7r or a7rii might show more distortion in raw due to the higher resolution). All in all, I am very happy with the purchase.
