I've been waiting a LONG time for 4k in the home. I looked at a lot of displays for a long time. I finally felt that the price had met the quality.
This TV does it all.
~I use it with my computer as my main display at 2160p. I waited for this display to have the 4:2:2 HDMI decoding for using my computer with it specifically. I sit 48" from the screen eyes at dead center. Drafting and High res photos are huge with the same pixel density as my other 24" 1080p screens. I now use a 29" 21:9 vertically as a side screen, and everything stays the same size when moving between the two. (not bragging, just was a factor for my choices) Great for my workflow.
~I bit the bullet and got a Sony Reciever to go with to power the speakers. All devices connect to the TV through the receiver and pass 4K no Problem. {I do recommend active HDMI like Monoprice redmere you can find in marketplace seller items. I had some ghosting on 2160p with older HDMI cables}. The other benefit is everything talks to each other over hdmi. audio, source selection, pretty well executed overall.
~Picture is smart and Beautiful. Auto settings adjust for type of source and signal. (computer dials back bright white backgrounds, Blueray adjusts brightness and frame rate,etc.).Switching is fast. Upscaling is super impressive (within reason. don't sit 4 feet away and watch an old dvd) Color was a big deal too. I don't need instrument calibrated monitor, but I looked at a lot of content and the Sony displays were better with skin tones and not overdriven in white. I see a lot of noise in the other leading monitors of the same range. I'll just say that I have a pretty well trained eye, and this monitor did not offend me.
~Home Page. For me, so far, home run. all the majors are there. I am an android user so my google account integration was simple. (sorry mac guys, but BLOWs AWAY apple tv) the PSNow is a neat feature to be explored at a later date. Netflix. Hulu. whatever you use,it is pretty much there. Streaming channels are cool. I hope more channels catch on. PBS is great. TED channel. I feel like the foundation is there for this to go places. it actually sealed the deal when Sony announced Android OS for this generation of TVs. For movie watching we sit across the room on the couch, about 12' away.
~looking forward to software updates for HDR to come. 4K Blueray and such still coming. But from what I can see so far, this TV is ready for it.
~you get the VALUE for your $$$$. Totally worth it.

Great picture quality and even better after some tweaking. Tgis model has all the mainoptions of a higher end 4k tv and upscaling is near 4k quality. Android interface works amazing too. Best big screen under 2k

The 65-inch television has a very high quality picture and works well with the Sony sound system. Has a built-in guide of off-air television channels as well as Netflix, Pandora, HBO GO, Hulu, and many other applications. My only complaints are with the remote -- when I press input to switch from off-air TV to the HDMI input (PlayStation, AppleTV, etc.) the menu disappears in about 3 seconds before I've had a chance to reposition my fingers to scroll through the various inputs. Also, the center of the remote control has a central button (select) and then TWO rings of four buttons. The inner ring is up/down/left/right and the outer ring is to get to the guide and the smart TV features. I am constantly hitting the wrong ring so instead of scrolling down within my current menu, I activate some smart TV feature. The TV quality is amazing and the processor power and video processing is better than most others. (And whatever you do, never ever ever buy a Sharp Aquos. Terrible support and the 70-inch screen died in just over a year and there was nothing anyone would do about it. Lesson learned: buy the extended support because these flatter TVs don't have the cooling and the lifespan of the older televisions.)

We purchased a Sony 65" LED Smart 3d-4K ultra HD Tv with a Samsung 500 series soundbar. Love both of these pics. Our salesman Johnathan at the Mall of America Strore was AWESOME! Very informative, not pushy and we loaded it up in our car that day!!! We love the color and quality of this new TV. The sound bars are a great benefit for movies!

I did quite a bit of research, including looking at floor models in stores. I found that the 4k delivered by Sony is one of the best pictures, especially by use of their HDR technology. Not only did I look at specs, but the price offered by Best Buy was the best deal I could find around the net. I'm no TV expert, but it seems there is consensus about quality when it comes to back lighting, and how it is affected around the frame of the screen. Sony uses a technology that best enhances lighting based on what you are viewing to show sharp contrasts between light and dark sections of the picture. I may just be rambling at this point, but this set is excellent. It has built-in WiFi for app use and streaming. I have used as many functions as I can on this TV, and I believe I have not even uncovered all of its potential. I would highly recommend considering this Sony TV.

I love this TV! It has an amazing picture. Even the sound quality is great. I had been told by others that large screen TVs didn't have great song no due to the depth of the TV that doesn't allow for the installation of large speakers. In very impressed by the quality of this unit. The only problem I am having is the one remote, that is too ch sensitive, only works to turn on the TV. Other than that, I love this TV

4.5 stars Great TV. One minor OS android issue and tv rebooted itself but that's not Sony's fault I guess. Excellent contrast tho some scenes or in-between scenes when it's a black background can see minor "spray paint" light bleed effect if you will(not at the edges mind you, the edges are perfect) of light on half of the screen but it's very negligible especially as 99% of the time you're not getting a black screen in movies or shows for very long. I can't upload a picture of what I'm talking about because the instances are so brief and possibly going away on its own? And bear in mind with the pics ppl have uploaded of light bleed their cameras heighten or exaggerate the light bleed by 3 or 4 times or more depending on the iso capability of the camera. But I can understand the customers' expectations for the price and their complaint of even the smallest amount of light bleed.
I don't like oled, never have. so this is my kind of tv and the only clear choice for me. But I know I'm in the minority since oled sells like crazy.
Happy shopping!

Was going to buy the 65" UHD Samsung at the exact same price, $1999 marked down from $2599. But, I preferred the Sony Color. Was told that the Samsung had better blacks due to the full array lighting but the Sony has amazing blacks! No regrets! Love the Sony!!!

Defective 3-D

I own several Sony Bravia Devices, but this one is extremely disappointing.
My 5yr old Sony 46" 3-D, LED, KDL40HX800 has an amazing picture, awesome 3-D, and I love the it, but I figured I would upgrade to a 4K as a gift to myself for Christmas. So on Thanksgiving, I purchased what I thought it would be another wonderful Sony product.
I was excited to take the 65" 3-D, XBR65X850C home and watch my favorite 3-D movies. Once I had everything attached and synced, I continued to enjoy the color and clarity that are truly Phenomenal, but then my excitement fizzled when I tried to watch Avatar in 3-D!
The foreground image and closed caption are mirroring/ghosting and the background is blurred. After numerous attempts of rectifying the problem by adjusting the depth and using the side by side mode, the foreground becomes slightly more clear, but the text and background are even more distorted, and have mirroring/ghosting. When you clear up the closed caption, all the images are distorted ....Totally unacceptable!
I went to Best Buy and told the Magnolia Dept Manager, several sales reps, and the Sony Rep, of the problems I was experiencing, and they all claimed to own the same TV, which they purchased through a Sony Employee Promotional. They loved their TV's, and have no problems, but when asked if they watched any movies in the 3-D mode, all of them responded with a resounding no. I didn't think it was necessary to pay an extra $300 for a Defective 3-D TV!
The Sony Rep then stated I was probably using the wrong 3-D glasses, and needed to use the Passive 3-D glasses. I showed him Sony's website that stated in the manual and specs, that this model requires the use the of ACTIVE 3-D glasses.
Best Buy offered me a replacement TV, but with all the negative feedback on this model's lack of 3-D capabilities, and now remote issues, I decided to try the new state of the art Samsung 4K SUHD 3-D, Model UN55JS9000FXZA. Can't wait till this TV arrives.
Sorry Sony, but your technology has seriously failed me. Thank you BEST BUY for treating me like a valued customer and making this RIGHT.

First off I want to let everyone know that is TV was nice at first
With in 2 months into it I noticed that there were light patches on the screen when it was a dark screen...
Also being a gamer I noticed a lot of bad uniformity on dark areas in fall out 4 and in its loading screen... I contacted Sony with this issue and sent in the pictures they told me that it was a normal thing... I'm going to get a Samsung instead these tv have to many light bleeding issues...
Don't bother with sonys customer service as they advised this was normal which is crazy talk they barely spoke English... I couldn't understand what the lady was saying... And she wasn't talkin much either she just kept saying sorry... But I was the one who was sorry because I purchased this junk..

There's a lot I love about this TV. Overall the picture quality is fantastic and is a huge step up from my old 50" Samsung 1080p DLP. The colors are rich, the blacks are deep black, the included apps (Netflix, Amazon Prime, Plex, Youtube, Google Cast) are fast, responsive and have not given me a single issue yet. Voice search on Youtube also works amazingly well.
Unfortunately I have a few minor complaints and one major complaint. First, the non-dealbreakers: I am sending audio from the TV to my ARC-compatible receiver via HDMI, but I am only getting stereo sound. This is the case for at least the built-in Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Plex apps. I really hope this can be fixed by a software update.
Second, I'm running my cable box through my receiver to the TV. If I switch channels from something that is HD to something that isn't (or vice versa), I get a green screen with a "no signal detected" warning for about 5 seconds before the picture pops up. As you can imagine, this gets to be incredibly annoying as I am browsing different stations.
Third, the touch remote is nice when it works, but I find that too often it is either overly sensitive when I swipe around, or it is completely unresponsive. Again, I hope this can be fixed with a software update.
My biggest issue is with the light bleeding from the edges. It is incredibly apparent with any grey background, particularly when there's text on the screen. The attached photos actually make it look worse than it is in real life, but not by much. Again, deep blacks look fine, but anything between black and grey suffer from this. I'm hoping this is just a faulty screen and that a replacement will not display this issue, but based on other users' experiences I've read, this could just be what we're getting from Sony.
I wish I could keep this TV, but there's no way I'm going to be able to ignore the light bleeding. Am I just to accept that a $2500 tv in 2015 will have these issues, or is this just a bad model from Sony?

Mike at the Rochester Hills store was a beast. He helped pick out the Sony 60" tv as well as the mount, HDMI cable and remote. His mastery of electronics has proven to be astute. I love the entire hook-up.
