Out of box it was a bit dim/darker than I like...part of it's initial power saving settings, but a quick adjustment of the gamma and black levels and it's right where I wanted it. Stand is more than high/wide enough for my soundbar and plenty of room for a bigger/longer one if I upgrade that. The picture is beautiful! Even caught myself watching movies and shows I had already seen just to experience them this sharp! The only thing I would change, and it's minor, would be a remote that also has ff/rewind buttons to go forward/back faster or slower, but that's nitpicking as I can still do that at a basic level with this remote. Fantastic picture, excellent price, zero complaints.....and I'm a picky old man!

Truly stunning OLED picture!

Frankly, we were happy with our LG as well, but we've had it for 8 years so we felt it was time for an upgrade. I set out assuming I'd get another LG but felt on the Labor Day sale, this 65" model for $1399 was the better deal. We were happy with our LG but it wasn't like we were particularly brand loyal...I just thought I'd look at an LG since we were familiar with it. But at the end of the day, moving up to the Bravia, with some extra sound features plus a better Smart TV set up, was what swayed the decision. Understand, if you've never had an OLED before, the baseline for the picture quality is AWESOME! So we're happy with this picture, and since we only use if for movies and sports (no gaming), this model seemed like the best value for the money!

Horrible Picture

I am gut sick on how much I paid for this. The picture is so bad (even after adjustments) I thought the TV was defective. I soon discovered the price I paid is for the name. There are MANY halos, and the contrast is horrible! The worst part is the is dark pixels! When I watch movies and the scene takes place at night, or there is a dark background all I see is blurry black contrast with pixel squares. Save money, it is not worth the hype. I actually put it back in the box and went back to watching my older HD TV.

We are sorry to hear that the Bravia XR8B OLED is appearing too dark in your room. For better visibility in bright environments, we recommend disabling the "Power Saving" mode in the Eco Dashboard and turning off the "Ambient Light Sensor" under Picture settings to prevent the TV from automatically dimming. Additionally, setting the "Peak Luminance" to High and using "Vivid" or "Standard" mode can significantly boost the screen's brightness.

I was split between the OLED and the MiniLED versions but ultimately chose this as my living room doesn't have too much natural light. The contrast is lovely and the viewing angles are great too. The vibrance holds even when watching from an 80 degree angle which is nice if you have a big room. The sound doesn't distort even if bump it up to a very high level. Rating the Brightness as 4/5 as the MiniLED is clearly brighter than this, but you won't be disappointed with this buy at all.

And the user interface is simple and quick. It uses the Google TV operating system, both built on Google's Android platform, allowing access to apps and streaming services from the Google Play Store. The sound is very good, but better if you buy a soundbar by Sony or other brand. The remote is great too. The TV’s brightness is very good; it’s best watching in a darker room. For the price it’s a great value!
