I had toyed with upgrading the old DSLR to a mirrorless and settles on the Sony a6500. It takes great photos out of the box, but really shines when you put some of the after market lens on it. I have gotten into underwater photography also and it is a champ! Light weight, good on battery management, customizable for getting the perfect shot, and the on board stabilization for video is almost like having a gimble built in. The menu is not what I would call 'user friendly", but gives you a lot of room to modify the settings and you get used to it after an hour or so of use. I am growing into this camera and unless your looking to do pro work, this will last you're years of enjoyment to come.

I'm new to cameras , but I did a lot of research on the sony a6X00s models, It was really hard to choose but I'm glad I decided to get the a6500. It takes really good pictures and videos, and honestly the menu wasent that complicated to use like others say it's more of understanding the camera features and what they do to help take the perfect shot. I would recommend YouTube tutorials as it helped me. Will use for Travel , Street Photography and Family events. The 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS lense is pretty good for a beginner but I would recommend an upgrade on a lense when you can in the future. Or buy the Body only and save for a different lense *Only issue was the duration of the battery , like others point out the battery dosent last long

I've been using the camera for just a month now, so am still a newcomer. Still, I've been impressed with the clarity of the shots. I downloaded all of the documentation, but find that watching some of the many utube videos available is far more helpful when it comes to understanding the menu options. I'd like more lens options, but that's on me finding budget. It's been a fun camera to use and learn. I recommend it.

Light weight, easy to use. Crisp clear photos. View finder screen loaded with info. A friend who is a professional photographer picked my new camera and was amazed at all the options and how easy it was to use. People at camera counter were most helpful too. Having previously used Nikon products, Ireally happy with my new camera. Needed something lighter weight with picture stability. This camera fills the bill. Had considered the a 6000, the 6500 was most definitely worth the extra cost. Highly recommend this one. Have have the camera just 6 weeks.

I did a ton of research on cameras and this checked all of the boxes. I mainly use it for photography, but wanted the capability to expand into video if needed. I also wanted a body that has stabilization, as the lenses I prefer (Sigma glass) to use don't have stabilization. I've had the camera for about a month now and couldn't be more pleased. I highly recommend this for someone looking for high quality photos in a small, managable package.

This is a little on the pricy end of APS-C cameras but this is a case of you get what you pay for. I am still not quite sure if it's worth the extra price over the a6300 but it is definitely a top shelf camera. the 18-135 zoom lens is fantastic. My advice is to stay away from the PZ 16-50 kit lens as the 18-135 lens has much better optics. I have the 16-50 PZ lens as well and only use it when I want the smaller size which is not very often.

I'm a hobbyist photographer who uses the Canon T3i with multiple lenses. I purchased the Sony a6500 in order to travel with a lighter camera that takes great pictures. I'm still learning how to use the Sony a6500 but so far the photo quality is great. One major problem is that it is impossible to see the LCD touchscreen outdoors in any type of bright light (it looks completely black) which makes you rely solely on the viewfinder display to check; not a deal breaker for me but almost...

This was my first professional camera purchase and I can’t rave about it enough! It is very easy to use, especially since I’m a beginner with photography. The photos that I have taken of my cuisine and floral designs for my catering business come out so vivid and professional. I would definitely recommend this camera for any business owner who may want to showcase their products.

We bought this camera for a family trip to Hawaii and let me just tell you, it’s worth every penny!! Our images turned out professional-like quality; the coloring, clarity, and precision is just wonderful. We even shot a few 4K videos with it and they turned out wonderful!! Highly recommend if you are looking to get some good quality photos

I was just in Greenland and I saw the Aurora and thank GOD I had this camera as I was able to take the most exotic gorgeous pics of the Aurora with this camera. I compared mine with another tourist who had a cannon and his camera could not capture any colors, even at 15 sec Sutter speed. but mine did. Im so so happy I had this camera as seeing the Aurora is a once in a lifetime experience and this camera captured it the best.

The Sony a6500 is a great mirrorless camera. Its size is portable to carry most anywhere. On board flash is not much use with larger lenses, other than the kit 16-50mm lens. I use for real estate photography and after 1 month of use see an improvement in light capture.

I did a lot of research on this camera and if you spend a little time you can find some great reviews on YouTube. For me, I wanted a great introductory camera that was above standard and I’ve found it with the Sony a6500. You can get the full frame lenses for future growth. All you’ll need is the converter with doesn’t break the bank. I really like the overall form factor. The metal body feels great in hand. The touch screen is a great add on when you have the camera on a tripod. This camera is definitely worth the look. My review does not do it justice.
