I feel cheated

The reason I'm giving it 2 stars is because I ordered it new but when I got the package, I noticed a few things. First, the camera flip screen was already opened & it didn't come with the usual protective cloth. Second, when I turned it on, it didn't prompt me to initialize or anything bc it looked like it already had been set up. Third, what confirmed my suspicion was when I went into the settings, it was already customized & someone even added a favorite to their menu page. I tried to give the benefit of the doubt thinking maybe the person turned it on, played with the camera a bit & decided they didn't want it anymore. When I reset the camera myself, all the usual prompts that would come with setting up a NEW camera showed up; the pixel mapping, setting the date, etc... I feel cheated because, why market it as NEW when it was clearly an OPEN BOX? Sure the camera doesn't have any scratches & when I checked the shutter count, it said zero. But I think I just want peace of mind. Lastly, when I tried to return it & told them the situation, there wasn't any way to prove that I wasn't the one who opened the camera. They tried charging me a restock fee of about $250 so I just decided to keep it. Again, love the camera & I will definitely use it since I've been researching this camera for awhile, but this whole ordeal has left a sour taste for me. Maybe if I went into the store to get it rather than having it shipped I could have addressed the problem.
