Having a APSC camera that shoots 422 10 bit is awesome and the Fx30 is absolutely awesome. It’s got features that are specially made for cinema cameras like Cine EI. I love that it has an internal cooling fan, which illuminates the risk of the overheating in situations where you’re required to get the first shot right. The auto focus is really good, and accurate, and the touch screen helps even more. The 10 bit recording gives your extra room for post production grading. The slog3 has low noise, especially when using the 2 native ISO’s. Low light performance was better than I expected. The rolling shutter is not perfect like a global shutter but is a huge improvement from my previous camera. The best part was that I was able to use my current APSC lens for it, not needing to spend thousand to invest into new lens set. I highly recommend this camera for professional use.

The FX30 feels like a serious step up from traditional mirrorless cameras. I’ve been using it mainly for video projects, and the Super 35 sensor with 4K 10-bit recording gives footage a very cinematic look without needing a full-frame setup. Color grading is flexible thanks to S-Log3, and the dynamic range holds up well in both outdoor and indoor shoots. What really stands out is how lightweight and compact it is for a cinema-line body. Mounting it on a gimbal is easy, and the multiple mounting points make rigging straightforward. Autofocus is fast and accurate, even with moving subjects. The only tradeoff is that it doesn’t come with in-body stabilization, so handheld shots can get a little shaky if you’re not careful. Overall, the FX30 is a fantastic camera for filmmakers who want pro-level features at a more approachable price point. It punches well above its weight and has quickly become my go-to for creative shoots.

This is a spectacular high-end video camera with cine (film) quality. I've used mine with Sirui anamorphic lenses to shoot anamorphic 2.4:1 video, and the combination of a quality lens and this camera results in superb images and sharpness. The higher data rates really help in reducing the 4K "blur" when you do a pan or follow fast action--where the image breaks down because the data rate can't keep up with almost every pixel changing each frame. That's been my beef with Sony's AX-100 camera--a marvelous camera, but again, "blur" on fast action. By going up to XAVC-Si data rates, you capture a full frame of data for EVERY frame. It makes for huge files--but the quality is there. This camera has so many bells and whistles you really must study the many YouTube videos on it--the PDF instruction manual is, like, 300 pages? And you can find a video "how to" much easier than trying to find your topic in an instruction manual that (to quote the film BEETLEJUICE) "reads like stereo instructions." It will eat through batteries! If you are doing normal filming--auto focus, zooming, etc--you can perhaps get 45 minutes on a battery. Not good if you're filming a play with 50 minute acts! BUT you can easily attach an energy brick (like what you'd use with a phone or tablet to recharge in the field--maybe $50) and a CHARGING USB C cable and film all night! I filmed a 2.6 hour musical play this way. Also, you'll need some BIG memory cards. For example, if I wanted to shoot 30fps at XAVC-Si data rate (which is 3x the data than on a Sony XAVC-S setting--300mbps as opposed to 100mbps) you'd need a 256GB V60 memory card to record 100 minutes on a card. If you were going hog wild and shooting at the 600mbps 60fps data rate, that same card would give you about 50 minutes of footage! (Shooting at the usual 100mbps XAVC-S setting, like on a Sony AX-100, the same card would give you about 5+ HOURS of 4K footage!) But you can get such GREAT images! If you already have a set of Sony E Mount lenses (APS) then the FX30 gives you much more flexibility than an AX-100 for about the same price (FX30 body only.) If you're just filming baby's first birthday or a day at the beach, then the FX30 would be overkill and much more complex for your needs. But if you're like me (a retired film editor who worked at all the major studios) and want the best video quality you can get (short of a pro camera like an Arri Alexa or Sony FX3-6-etc) this is the way to go.

The Sony FX30 is a fantastic entry-level cinema camera. It delivers excellent image quality with S-Cinetone and S-Log3, and the 4K 120fps option is great for slow-motion work. Autofocus is fast and reliable, and the compact size makes it easy to rig or carry. I do wish it had built-in ND filters and a full-frame sensor for better low-light performance, but for the price, it’s an amazing value for filmmakers and content creators who want professional features without spending as much as the higher-end models.”

Its a great investment for this price. what can i say for what i wanted it for and some its definitely worth it. It will definitely make me better at shooting slog, thats for sure. Lol :) this camera is not for everyone though. Great for interviews, documentaries music videos. Even photography.

Best camera if you are starting your journey in the cinema world and for social media, the quality and the features you will get with this beauty for its price it’s unbeatable. Even though doesn’t have a mechanical shutter the still are incredible amazing. I highly recommend this camera

This is hands down the best camera if you are just getting started. I use this for streaming and am currently working on a music video. I know nothing about working a camera but there are plenty of YouTube vids on this camera to help get you started. It’s so easy to make your projects look professional.

I've been using the Sony FX30 for the past 5 months, and it has exceeded my expectations. Coming from a Sony a6400, this was a significant upgrade in terms of video capabilities. First off, the image quality is amazing with great color science and dynamic range. I also appreciate the form factor. The FX30 is compact but still feels professional. It has a built-in fan and long recording times. Autofocus is very fast and reliable. Eye tracking works well even during more complex shots. The menu system is improved over older Sony bodies which is a big upgrade. This camera is geared toward video, so if you’re expecting a hybrid camera with strong photo features, you might want to look elsewhere. But for video creators the FX30 hits the sweet spot of price, performance, and quality.

Awesome so far. Have been using it for auditions and vlogging and I haven't had an y hiccups yet. Quality is amazing and the sony community online has been sper helpful.

If you are like me and started out in videography with a beginner's camera Sony ZV-E10, the FX-30 is the best upgrade camera to seriously consider. 120 FPS at 4k 10 bit color is fantastic. While it lacks the photo burst capabilities that my ZV-E10 had, this camera is mainly used for videography. It can take nice photos, but you will have to rely on natural light as it is not compatible with a flash device.

Amazing camera and i think everyone knows that already, what more needs to be said. Not sure if this could be improved in any ways maybe the higher base iso is not high enough.

I'm a freelance videographer that primarily works with stand-up shows and this is by far the best quality camera at a reasonable price that'll do it all and for the entire duration of a 1 ½ to 2 hour show. I love the look and feel of the camera's body and with a built-in cooling system that prevents overheating while still being able to shoot 4k imagery with 10 bit color depth allows me to get a fantastic looking image with no worry on it dying. Easy to use and adaptable for all situations I need, especially when I pair it with my DJI-Ronin S3 for supreme versatility.

Product was as destribed except for the the cells agent displayed the item in a complete package which I thought what I was going to receive but I only received the model with just the camera without the extended handle, which was shown to me in the preview on the website that was slightly disappointing.But other than that, the camera's great

The Sony FX30 is an incredible compact cinema camera. Image quality is stunning, autofocus is super reliable, and the body feels built for creators. It gives you pro-level video features at a very fair price. Highly recommend it for filmmakers looking for cinematic results without breaking the bank.

I’ve been looking to get a new camera for some time now. After countless nights of researching and looking into a good starter camera for advanced video creation, I came to the conclusion that the fx30 is the best option for the price. I’ve had this camera for a couple months and I’m still learning new things each time I turn it on and shoot something. I would highly recommend this as a gateway camera into cinematography.

Amazing little camera. Basically the mini version of the FX3. Can’t recommend enough for video work.

As a video centric camera this is super nice. The Codecs it shoots in are pro level and the quality of the video is amazing. focus is great, functions and menu are easy to learn. All around an amazing little camera.

Bought this camera last week as an upgrade fresh out of film school. It has been incredibly user friendly, has image capabilities that exceed my expectations, and is still relatively small/ mobile. Best buy pickup was easy, went early in the morning and was in and out in 5 minutes
