Good camera, mediocre platform

I guess this review is a hybrid of both the camera and the Ring platform overall. The camera itself is great; it works as intended, the lights are bright (but always too sensitive even at the lowest setting), and I've only ever had to charge the battery once over the winter since I have it hooked up to the solar panel.
My bigger complaints are with the software. I really dislike that Ring only lets you have a single "owner" that has full admin rights; meaning, my wife and I would have to sign into the same account on both our phones to both have full control over the settings. There's basically zero reason that this should be the case in 2025.
We've also turned down the sensitivity and drawn the alert area to ignore neighborhood cats and critters, but the lights still go off multiple times a night even if the camera doesn't record activity. I get that the motion sensor doesn't know about the alert area, but maybe the cam should use the camera to verify where the motion is before flipping on the lights. It would create a lot fewer false alarms.
Had we not invested in the Ring ecosystem with a few cams, I'd probably choose a different platform, especially one not owned by Amazon. But, it does its job pretty well most of the time.

We love this product! The camera is great and you can add a a device on Alexa. She will announce when someone comes by. Also, this camera has a battery, so a backup spare would be handy. No wiring necessary. You mount it and add a a device.

great spot light cam, well worth the money peace of mind knowing its recording things in my yard. i have 2 acres and it really captures it. I would recommend buying extra battery's, so when these get low pop them in. would buy again. there is a subcription after so many days but well worth it.

Awesome product. Easy installation. Birds eye view is a great add on. I paired mine with s solar panel. No worries over battery power anylonger. I do recomend this product. As a matter of fact, I pick up extras for both of my daughters.

Love the ring cameras. Great battery life, great image and weathers all storms very well. There are a couple of quirky issues that I would like to see resolved such as allow you to turn off the recording light but it’s and all around good camera especially when it is on sale. The Ring recording service and app work flawlessly as well.

The Ring Pro is a fantastic upgrade for home security. The video quality is crystal clear, both day and night, and the customizable motion zones are a game-changer for reducing unwanted alerts. Setup was surprisingly easy, and the app is intuitive to use. Knowing I can check in on my home anytime gives me real peace of mind. Highly recommend!

There are a few positives worth mentioning. The video quality is clear, and the spotlight is bright enough to cover a decent area. It’s easy to set up, easy to install, and the app has a clean, intuitive interface that makes it simple to use and manage settings. If you use two batteries, the battery life is fairly respectable — better than expected for a wireless setup.
That said, this camera has its flaws — some of them major. Motion detection is inconsistent. In most cases, it will register motion, but if someone is moving quickly, they’ll already be out of frame by the time it actually records and sends you an image. If you don't have a subscription you cannot watch that part. That delay defeats the purpose of having a security camera in the first place. The subscription part defeats the purpose of buying a premium wireless camera.
But what really gets under my skin is the pricing model. You pay for a premium camera, only to find out that basic features like person and vehicle alerts require a monthly subscription. It's ridiculous. I’ll admit I’m a little biased — I had a wired system that includes these features without any extra cost. But this whole tech-bro model of locking features behind a subscription just feels like a cash grab. It's built to extract ongoing fees for something that should be standard out of the box.
Bottom line: I’m switching back to a wired system that gives me more functionality without nickel-and-diming me every month. If you're serious about home security, I don’t see how this camera qualifies as a reliable solution.

It sounds like you are concerned with the need for the Ring Home Plan subscription. At Ring, we work hard to be completely transparent in both our products, and the optional services in which we provide. The Ring Home Plan is mentioned on our Ring packaging, on our website, and in the welcome email you received upon setting up your device. Your Ring products provide their standard features (real-time notifications, live view, and two-way talk) without any subscription. Ring Home Plans offer downloading and sharing video capabilities and additional features for those who want them.
It is important to ensure that you have the proper motion settings in place for your environment. Here are a few tips to optimize the motion settings on your security camera:
1. Adjust Motion Sensitivity: Ring devices can detect motion up to 30 feet with the Motion Sensitivity slider at the maximum level. If you turn Motion Sensitivity down, this range will be lower, decreasing false motion. If your device is missing motion, increase the Motion Sensitivity using the slider. 2. Change the position of your Ring device: Adjust the position of your camera to improve the accuracy of motion detection. 3. Change the Motion Frequency: Under Advanced Settings, tap Motion Frequency. You can adjust how often battery-powered devices check for motion. If your device is missing motion events, increase the Motion Frequency to Frequently (Shortest battery life—Motion detection always stays active) in the Ring app. If too much motion is being detected, change the frequency to Regularly (Medium battery life—Motion detection takes a short break after each motion alert) or Periodically (Maximum battery life—Motion detection takes a longer break after each alert).

Great product. Works well. I had these at my previous house and left them there. I was so happy with them that I bought the same system at my new house.

Installed this in an area with relatively high foot traffic because I didn’t have a power source where I wanted it. Picture is clear, light works well and is adjustable but battery life could be better. With the motion light on the batteries drain quick even with two in the unit. Will try adding solar panel.

I love this outdoor camera. It notifies me all the time when someone is walking on the other side of my house. The light is activated every time it detects a motion, and it keeps me safe. It's worth every penny.

Great cam. Only two issues. The battery is not as easy to change as it is in the plus. Also being my house was built four years ago. I am not on the satellite pic so Birds Eye view does not work. Besides those two things everything else is an upgrade from the plus. I’m hoping they get current pics so we can utilize the Birds Eye feature.
