The hard drive is a great product for great price!

I purchased this unit as a replacement for the one I had previously. That unit worked fine until I accidently kicked it. It was starting to show signs that it may go out soon. I fought through uploading all of the information from one drive to another, and it worked like a charm. Unfortunately after I rebooted the computer for the first time, it would lock up. Tried several more times and the computer would lock up when booting up. I could disconnect it, reboot, and plug the drive in, and it would operate well. I tried all of the recommended fixes, but no luck. I finally ended up purchasing a another brand portable drive and that unit stays plugged in and the computer reboots as it should. It seems that it is a recognized problem. I would recommend this unit with conditions.

Very quiet and works without much human input after startup. However the unit was far from plug and play. I was on the phone with western digital for over 1 hour due to the fact Windows 7 would not recognize the drive. Had to install old firmware and software to make compatible. Even tech support had no clue what to do.

I purchased this for my PS4 after the patch that allows external hard drives. This works perfectly with my PS4 and I couldn't be any happier! It's not very large (maybe like 2 Apple TV's side by side) and fits nicely with an entertainment center.

The only problem I have had is the hard drive disappeared when I plugged in another usb device. I don't think that is a hard drive problem. It's probably a windows problem. Other than that it goes into sleep mode quite a bit. You have to wait a little bit for it to come back up. I think I can handle that.

Excellent option for a unit that won't be moved so much. Being a HDD you have to take care of it. If you want something that you can continuously travel with and not worry about, get an SSD.

The peace of mind is well worth the money. So easy to set up. Just plug in and connect to computer. I set mine up to backup every night while I am sleeping. Now I don't have to worry about losing files from my computer if it crashes.

Once I opened the box I quickly transfered all files to my new PC. The product should be cheaper since it doesn't have the cloud. Overal, an okay item for transfer files. Size it's way to big (in my opinion) but fanless is a plus! Style is a plus. Very sleekly design and is almost weightless.

The WD My Book 3TB External USB 3.0 Hard Drive provides a great way to back up your computer and store your data. Using two of them provides a very secure way of redundant data storage.

This is really a nice external HDD. The package is nice - I'm using it for a media storage drive in my entertainment center in my living room. It's nice a quiet operation. I do wish it had a power LED or activity LED on it, but other than that it's a great value with a huge storage volume.

Great customer support by the manufacturer. Encountered a glitch trying to install. Contacted WD support and they replied within 24 hours and also followed up to insure the unit was working. Running Windows 10 which had flagged a problem with the old hard drive that was used

Needed more space to hold all my old files from my last job so I can keep in touch with my former coworkers. It did the job and then some. May even get another if I get another job again but hopefully not.

Works great, simple to setup, easy to use. I bought this to provide additional hard drive space. My third external hard drive from WD. All have worked great, just needed more external hard drive capacity.

I have other external hard drives from Wester Digital and all of them have held up well, and this WD 3TB is a good value . I recommend Wester Digital external drives for anyone's computer backup.

Hard to tell if external drives are working the way they should until you need them. I had help setting this up, so I can't yet speak to ease of use.

The only problem with this is when you connect the usb cable to the computer it ends to come loose and it disconnect ,other than that the product is good.

Needed an external HDD for backups and to just copy files to for save keeping, all of the MyBooks's that I have used in the past worked fine and this 3TB installed easily and is working fine also.

Bought as a back up for my Office desktop. Giving me some peace of mind about the possibility of losing some or all of my data

Bought this drive and a Passport at the same time -- both have been working flawlessly ever since. Check with me in a few years to see if they still are... that's the gold standard, no -- longevity?

Hook up was easy, "plug n' play". After a year, no problems. It goes on when the computer goes on. I use it for music storage and when I need more storage, I'll buy another.
